Hey Guys.
Skipped breakfast this morning and had a very late lunch at 4:30pm.
Used up some new potatoes, the last of the creme fraiche and green beans, diced onion, black pepper and some sweetcorn as a cold salad yum, grilled some pancetta for the top, was so good, have enough left for tomorrow, i used up some carrots a tin of tomatoes, a tin of kidney beans, lean mince from freezer and a onion and made a chilli which is now in the slow cooker, will have it in a few hours with some rice and sweetcorn, plenty leftover for a few days.
Not been out today, s had a nsd again, will be popping out tomorrow but no shopping.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Mmm your potato concoction sounds yummy ms_night_ryder !
I had a £10.10 spend in Asda, needed milk, butter and a few essentials.
Since I took hubby shopping he has started to appreciate how expensive food is and despite a roll of the eyes with my YS bargains from the other night, he said tonight that "all those salad bargains are really good aren't they" - yes dear...less of the eye rolling when I come in laden with bags please! He also stated he liked chicken that I bought last week but was interested to know how the price compared with what we usually buy. Who is this person I'm living with and what have they done with my husband?! :rotfl: Gosh, living with me must have changed him!
Just made said husband a pasta salad for tomorrow for his lunch - the pasta stock is dwindling nicely which I'm glad about - fed up of looking at it! We don't eat as much pasta as we used to so I'll be glad when its gone.0 -
Not been here for a couple of months, back again with the quest to make more creative meals to use up my food again!
Today I have used up the last of our (sad looking) potatoes with some carrots to make chips in the actifry - having them with bits out of the freezer and some steamed long stem broccoli which I got reduced from Ms0 -
OH has got Dell'Ugo fresh organic spinach and ricotta pasta from the freezer for dinner (Ocado offer) with Seeds of Change cherry tomato and Parmesan organic pasta sauce (Sainsbury's offer) as he still has a sore mouth from wisdom tooth removal. I've got bits n bobs salad with all the veg from the bottom of the veg drawer (very MSE) plus a couple of small globe artichokes.
Need to get more stuff out of freezer for weekend and go buy veg tomorrow.
Spent some of the afternoon slacking, watching videos of South African runner Oscar Pistorius. He trains in Italy and they had him doing a dance on the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars !0 -
Evening
great bargains good to see the freezers and cupboards being used too.
T had the MMR jab on Tuesday. Went better than I thought and he's been fine since thankfully. YS potatoes got turned into mash last night with sausages from the freezer and beans from the cupower. YS cabbage got mixed in with the leftover mash as a colcannon type thing wih left over sausages tonight. Breakfast was toast and lunch was ham and cheese sandwiches with blueberries on the side.Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Hi everyone - not been on here too much in the last few weeks - been too busy swanning around the supermarket throwing stuff I didn't really need into my trolley with gay abandon!!
my finances are not great at the moment (due to overspending and it being the school holidays so house full of starving teenagers who seem to only eat in my house). I have fairly full cupboards and my freezer is okay too, but i am not sure that very fussy older daughter would agree!!
I am trying to only use cupboard and fridge/freezer until payday (24th), and tonight made a root veg bake with sweet potatoes, potatoes, parsnips and onions which was lovely.
I will go and have a good read of the thread now to see what you've all been up to!!Jane

Well done for coming back to us recovering spendahollic! I can just picture you doing some sort of supermarket sweep run around the shops
I'm finding the emptying of freezers and cupboards quite addictive now!
OUT: Home made Courgette Soup, 1 packet of crumpets, 1 x 99p chicken bargain from Morrie's (only one left now!).
Will also be eating up the cottage cheese from the fridge, was going to have it with a jacket potato but just realised we ate them last night so will dig a pitta bread out of the freezer.
Also started taking slices of bread out rather than loaves as husband is on a bread amnesty and I can't eat a whole loaf before it goes off.0 -
Morning all.
Jane - nice to see you posting again - hope all are well.
Only went to Asda for food shopping yesterday and bought:
2 large tiger loaves @ 10p each = 20p
2 packs of teacakes @ 10p each = 20p
3 pack of "tear and share" cheese bread @ 10p each = 30p
3 carrots = 17p
Total food spends = 87p
Also bought in Asda 6 x Asda men's shaving gel @ 40p each (thanks Soworried).
Got a few bargains from M&S Outlet shop and Debenhams.
ammonite - I freeze my bread in bags (4 slices per bag) and take a bag out as needed. Froze 6 x 4 slice bags last night as well as splitting the teacakes and freezing 2 per bag.
I thought the cheese "tear and share" bread would be ok to freeze, but states "not suitable for freezing" - so in fridge and will have one today and one tomorrow and the birds will get one along with quite a bit of the tiger bread. Going to make breadcrumbs with some bread also for the fish, which is now tomorrows meal.
Today we are having pork chops with new potatoes and carrots and a blue cheese sauce. The pears need using (desperately), so pears with ice-cream or cream.
Breakfast for myself will be toast (not hungry after last nights Italian (Groupon), which was nicer than last time), hubby will have beans and egg on toast.
I'm trying NOT to go shopping any more this week and not much needed, nothing that can't wait (frozen sweetcorn etc) - please will me on. lol
Weather forecast is cr4p here, another yellow alert!!!
Hope it's better in your area.

I subject my tutor group at school to long comparisons of him to any footballer. Do you know that one reason they gave for trying to prevent him running in the 'normal' olympics was that not having his own legs gave him an unfair advantage?
Not much happening freezer cupboard wise here. I've had lunch out with MIL two days in a row, Wednesdays we always have dinner at hers. Last night we took her and FIL out as it was her birthday. We went to a pub in the next village down that is so popular we had to book two months back. They do pizzas etc downstairs and have a more formal dining area upstairs. The food was fantastic with lots of extra touches such as lemon sorbet between the starter and mains and homemade chocs at the end. The bill was huge though - two weeks grocery shopping at least (more like six for Lyndsey) and we hadn't had room for desserts, although we had two bottles of wine. It was even more to start with until I checked and saw we'd been charged for five mains instead of four.
I need to take something quick out for tonight as we're at a charity quiz and then tomorrow we're off to friends for barbeque lamb on the spit.:)I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Morning
I have pulled out a YS pork loin joint to make for dinner later. I have also pulled out some stuffing, cabbage, and swede mash. I will make some yorkshire puddings and gravy to go with it and some roasties and apple sauce.:)
I really fancy a proper dinner after too much salad.
Breakfast is more cereal.
Lunch, I have pulled out ham and pea soup with rolls. Nothing should go in today except maybe a couple of left over yorkshire puddings.
I am determined to have a nsd.£36/£240
