    Hi All,

Hope you are all doing ok.

Last day today without little one as he finishes pre-school for summer in 45 mins....

Roasting a chicken for tonight to then so with whatever anyone facies having with it. Probably salad / pasta. Roasting it real slow on 80 degrees been on since 11.30am. Should fall off the bone. Quick 20 min super hot blast later to crisp and colour. Can you taste it?
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Really want to start doing this, I'm terrible for buying anything that looks even slightly tasty, or good value for money - we have a cupboard full of pastas/rices, a cupboard full of curry sauces, a cupboard full of pasta sauces, around 20 different cereals, two fridges absolutely rammed with food, a freezer we can never fit things into, and the understairs just has stacks of cat food in it - going to try to use up all of this without even thinking of buying any more stuff :)

Considering switching to online shopping, since it's so easy to walk around a store to just get a couple of items and walk out with another trolly full. Can anyone please recommend the best place to start with regards to online grocery shopping? Preferably a site which I can add to throughout the week, rather than having to remember everything as I place the order :)

    Thanks

Hi Smoosh, you're cereal cakes sound yummy! If we have any muesli type or crunchy oaty type of cereals we often turn them into flapjacks/oaty cakes, then when you get the crispy bits in they are really nice.

NSD for me today. I DID go to the Tesco Express on the way back from a playgroup as my friend I was with wanted some bits, but I resisted and didn't buy anything, not even a packet of crisps for the girls as I have some little muffins at home that I made last night, as my mini muffin tray that I bought with my eBay voucher came yesterday. I used up some of my ys cherries and made chocolate muffins with cherry, white chocolate and dark chocolate chunks in. They are tasty, but only small so I have found that I have had less.

I am going to resist going to Tesco tonight for the ys, my arms and legs are absolutely agony today, I don't know what I've done, it feels like I've run a marathon (except I haven't) but it hurts to walk, sit down, get up, pick up anything, especially my kids. I'm just hoping it goes soon. My arms are the worst part, it feels like my bones inside are hurting, and the pain is starting to get up to my shoulders. Time for some painkillers I think.

blizeH - my kitchen is a bit like yours, I've got food in every cupboard possible, and even got OH to add another cupboard recently! Luckily the shop we got our kitchen from 5 years ago was still selling the same range. It was just a corner cupboard, but it's really helped with some of the cluttery bits. Good luck with getting through your cupboards! I tend to clear a space and then buy something else to fill it!!

    Lip_stick - have a wonderful trip!

katskorner - your chicken sounds delicious, beats my sausage and mash for tea!

Edwardia - that's great news about Tesco, hopefully your diced beef will be better.

Soworried - I'm also going to try and avoid spending anything, I've spent the majority of our food budget now for July, but I have so much food in I don't think it will be a problem, will just need some milk and a few bits of veg and some fruit

A BBQ chicken and a Chicken Peppercorn dinner out of the freezer with 2 bags of frozen rice. Needing to live out of the freezer this month. Updated my grocery total (had a fair few toiletries I stocked up on) but spending it too quickly really. This rate I'll have nothing left after September! :)

I think if I added up the contents of my cupbaords and freezer I'd be a secret millionaire !

Just back from town.. don't think it's worth me going to ASDA now, because although ASDA does the cheapest organic veg, my local one doesn't seem to sell any. :( Only organic veg I could get were onions and mushrooms and no organic meat or poultry at all. Did get some Whole Earth organic cornflakes for OH and some ASDA organic Extra Virgin olive oil though.

So going to Sainsbury's later with OH. Organic is saving us money cos we can't buy any food :(

Evening everyone, hope we're ok. Lynsey good luck x

Managed a few reduced items over the last few days. Food and non food items.

Got reduced fruit, not reduced by a lot but it wasn't full price at least.

2x pork ribs (for OH, massive ones) £1.69 each - £3.38
    Minted turkey - £1.49
    500g fresh beef mince - £1.38
    Seedless black grapes - £1.99
Pineapple on a stick (for the baby. Took the stick out and cut it up) - 35p
Strawberries (morrisons version of a finest range I think) - £1.25

Yesterdays total - £9.84. Quite expensive but most of the fruit is left bar the pineapple. I had the turkey yesterday and OH has already ate all the pork ribs. Sigh, was hoping to put them in the freezer.

Today I was hunting for birthday bits for Thomas. Clintons is closing by me so I got a lovely pot of dreams saving jar with his name on for £2.09 (was £6.99). It had his name on it, I couldn't leave it there :o It's similar to this design but has his name instead http://www.clintoncards.co.uk/pot-of-dreams-little-lads-money.html

Also picked up a foil balloon, latex balloons, birthday banner, birthday hanging decorations, wrapping baby and even got Christmas tags reduced. Very pleased. Can't believe he'll be 1 in exactly 3 weeks!
    Wife and mother :j
    Grocery budget
    April week 1 - £42.78 | week 2 - £53.05

    Hi all

Thanks for the welcome back. We were in Yorkshire and seemed to be able to dodge all the bad weather which was a minor miracle. We only had one day where we needed our jackets and the rest were overcast or sunny and warm.

Right have done the inventory on the house freezer just the garage one to do now and then the cupboards.

Had goulash for tea tonight and tomorrow I have planned to use the last two frozen tuna steaks and stir fry veg/noodles. That's as far as I have planned so far this week lol.

will get back into the chat soon just trying to pop in amidst wading my way through mountains of washing and ironing lol.

Took the last bus of the day to Sainsbos so we'd have more shopping time. Got my first organic YS :D 4 unwaxed limes and some strawberries. I will stir the strawberries into yogurt and have them for breakfast. :) I'm using free range chicken wings out of the freezer later this week to do chicken wings in lemon sauce so it'll be lemon n lime now. ;) Walked back loaded down with stuff but it was quite nice walking past lush gardens with lots of lavender and hydrangeas.

Ended up doing the shopping this evening because I'm busy tomorrow. Got lots of reduced bits (2 loaves of bread, potatoes, cookie dough mixture, apricot pastries, a bag of cookies, a packet of broccoli & cauliflower & carrots, a bunch of bananas, chopped pineapple, 6 yoghurts, a pot of fresh custard, cream, 6 pack of rolls). Then got some additional fruit and veg, crisps and chocolate for lunch boxes, milk, sandwich fillings and spread. All came to about £13 :D Dinner ended up being freezer bits - some chips and a quorn chicken burger each (that's those all used up!) and used 4 of the reduced rolls :)
