Jane there's nothing wrong with Cathedral City.. British milk, no additives AFAIK but it's not stronger-tasting organic dairy-made cheese, that's all. OH thinks it tastes really bland. It's No1 best selling cheese in UK though. It just seems daft that industrial-made cheese ie made in huge quantities is more expensive than the organic dairy-made stuff because surely it must be cheaper to make.
Had buffalo mince curry tonight for dinner (I had YS Tesco runner beans not rice) and must admit not ideal way to taste buffalo and all I can say about it is that it tasted like beef to me ! Had to watch OH eating Lidl naan and had a teeny bit and it tasted pretty good.
eleanor73 - totally with you re: condiments, OH has three kinds of mustard, piccalilli, all kinds of pickles for his packed lunches. Take up half a shelf and nearly all the fridge door.0 -
Morning all. Feel like I could sleep for another hour.
Tea went well last night, the rack of lamb was lovely, probably rather wasted on ds tho lol. Tonight is going to be minced beef and potato pastry bake.
Ds is having pack up for dinner so haslet sandwich, a galaxy cake bar and some strawberries for him. Not sure what I'm having. Going to get my hair done this morning. Hate being stuck in a hairdressers for hours.
Freezer is looking quite spacious but need to use up some cuts of meat. Think I might be having jerk chicken tomorrow.
quintwins, hope you're feeling better soon, nothing worse than aching teeth.
gotta scoot, running late... have a good one all! There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
morning,
scotch pancakes from the freezer for breakfast this morning, I have so many yellow sticker things from the bread section in my freezer, and not much else now! So pasta for lunch to get my excess stocks of that down, and then burgers in buns for tea, that should help the freezer! if i get time i need to bake to get my ingredients stock down too. Think I will make apricot flapjack, some mince pies (several jars of mincemeat to use up which go out of date before christmas) and some muffins for the kids. I think mince pies will be ok the way the weather is! heeeee!!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0 -
Lipstick, I have not heard of haslet before. Is it nice? I'm imagining a corned beef type thing.
elanor, I can see the YS shopping getting addictive as well
Breakfast was YS bananas and YS waffles with honey.
Pack up lunches are YS buns with egg mayo. YS blueberry muffin, YS melon pack. Less than 50p each
Dinner will be salmon fillets with asian style noodles. So a few things out and hopefully nothing in.£36/£240

Hi just leaping out of lurkdom to say haslet is more like a thinly sliced meatloaf.
Choas here - my food storage cupboard has collapsed and have nowhere to put anything and the estate agent is coming round tomorrow to take photos of the house:eek:
Hope OH can fix it tonight.0 -
i thought haslet was a paste type thing.
nsd todayi have no car so no chance of it being anything other than a nsd
breakfast was cornflakes and oranges
lunch-pasta
dinner-sheperds pie and brocolli (bought for 10p and frozen)
my mouths still abit sore it's stupid cause the problem i had last week is now completely gone but this is worse because atleast last week i had one side of my mouth, now it hurts just to open my mouth, it's very red and inflamed i still have antibiotics for the othe rproblem so don't think it's an infection just red tight skin, i found a tub of bongela which is helping abit.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I loved haslet and I'd describe it as like sliced meatloaf with a hint of sage. If you like sliced meats, then suggest having a look in your nearest Polish shop, mine has loads in a fridge which they'll slice for you.
May go out charity shop rummaging for clothes today and nip into the Polish shop myself for more kefir (sort of drinking yogurt 75p for 400g).
Quintwins, hope yor mouth gets better soon -suggestion - using salted water or diluted TCP as a mouthwash or Corsodyl mouthwash (cheapest place for it according to mysupermarket is ASDA £3)0 -
Afternoon all. Hair's looking ok, although I think she should have left the dye on for a bit longer. Glad it's over and done with tho. Ds' dad phoned up whilst I was in there. I got the gist that he think he's coming down with that bug, so the one time he'll be having ds overnight on his own, it sounds like he's trying to get out of it. Yet to phone him back about it.
Freezer had almost a free drawer but I've filled it with a large bag of dusted squid that I bought from Fultons for a quid. Hope it's nice as I love squid. Bought some meat spreads, rice and fruit and veg while shopping too.
Jayjay - hello... and yep - haslet is a meatloaf type thing. Nice in a sandwich.
Edwardia - I read suggestions that I should gargle with salt water when I had my bad throat. The water ended up being sprayed all over my kitchen and myself. :rotfl:There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. I don't have an asda, i do have corsodyl tho (thats yet another reason i can't wait for asda to open only 2 months to go
) i've been using both i'm not good with salt water but i did it last night and this morning and corsodyl before bed.
i just did a tesco order, now i don't need £50 off food, but i do need a few bits and they sent me a £10 off code, so in this case there marketing worked, i ordered lots of mince as i noticed when lifting tonights out i don't have anymore, 20 tins of beans as i only have 4 left and stuff to make quiche, fish and chips, fish burgers (fish cakes in baps) porridge, rice pudding and custard aswell as a few other bits all of which will come in handy, didn't order any bread as i think it's gone downhill lately, ordered for the 18th as that was the cheapest slot before it expired and i may still cancel it before then or swap a few bits outDEC GC £463.67/£450
