Thank god that I made up meals last weekend as an effort to save money. I've had an ear infection - now a perforated eardrum - and those "proper" meals have really helped! Can't say I'm a fan of turkey sausage like I am on Turkey bacon...

Tonight is homemade nando's night. I'm at uni tomorrow, don't want to take sandwiches so might take chicken salad. Sucks when everyone else is sat there stuffing their face with chips and pie and I'm with my damp salad. Boo!

Bought more asda milk - the filtered for longer one and it's gone off AGAIN. The BBD is 12th July, COME ON!
Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt! :D:D
  • I did quite well at Sainsbugs today - we got three lots of organic pork steaks at half price and organic blueberries, mixed berries, 2 pack of papaya, satsumas, melon, pineapple and cherries all at 30p or 35p each. The competition was fierce today with several people circling the markdown trolley. We worked out I saved over £17 so the £16 t-shirt I bought for my holiday is basically free :D
Lyndsey I really envy your budgets, I wish I could get mine as low as that.:o Although now I think about it, £55 of what we spent this weekend has been moggie fodder:o We're busy stockpiling for when we're away and Mr T is helping by having whiskas at £2 a box and then giving us vouchers as well:D
Its three weeks now till we go and we're away for my dad's wife's birthday party, she's 60 the weekend after next.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Hi Gally fancy seeing you here ;) that is great for all that meat I think!

Lynsey - You have done brilliantly with all of your bargains - enjoy your 6 months of luxury :D

One chicken pie and my YS curry are out of the freezer tonight. Nothing else going in :D Failed miserably on the budget as usual but plenty of meals in the house and using up the stuff with short dates for a change!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Kitty_Ears - get well soon.

Hubby is OK'ish, not racked in pain any more. He should get it checked though!!

Thanks for the support regarding budget, but remember it's only for food and hot and cold drinks (no alcohol included) and only 2 of us.
The last 6 months has been targeting "whoopsies" and at times it's been hard work (but enjoyable) - some weeks there's loads and other weeks pretty scarce. I shouldn't have been buying as nothing needed apart from fresh stuff, but the fear was lack of "whoopsies" in the 2nd half of the year - my efforts mean I don't need to fear that now as still very well stocked.
I won't be "whoopsy" shopping as much now, but will still target certain things. I have been refusing beef joints, because I don't need them yet and because they weren't 75% off.
The next 5 months will be relax time - £140 per month to spend. lol
I now know I won't fail and £25-£30 per week will enable a few more luxuries.

Went to Morries for some pies and bread, but only 50% off and left them.
Did buy some cream muffins again for 82p, some Rodda clotted cream for 15p and some cheese for 25p (in freezer) - £1.22 spent. Muffins for tomorrow.
Made some sultana scones and sausages in gravy just's needs reheating later.

Got no fresh veg now after using last of potatoes and no bread left.
I might bake tomorrow or pop into Asda to see if the 2 for £1 bread is still on offer.

Got a few ready meals I want rid of and maybe tomorrow??

Bit windy here today, but sunny and fairly warm - we'll get that summer eventually ............................... I hope!!!!

I lurk on this thread a lot but thought I'd post today as I have finally made a start in eating through my own food stocks!

In the past few days me and the OH have eaten a packet of chicken breasts for a curry, a packet of mince for a chilli (of which there are 3 portions left to eat during the week) and a packet of YS thick gammon steaks which I roasted. Have also been making inroads in the the frozen vegetables and just taken some fish and bread rolls out to eat tomorrow.

My freezer isn't that big but I'm aiming to clear one of the 3 drawers before I allow myself to put more stuff in there. Also trying to eat our way through the baked bean stock that has built up since I found 24 tins of branston for £5 on ebay!

And 1/4 the price also means 1/4 the calories, right :D:D:D. Hope so, bearing in mind the banoffee pie I forgot to mention :o.

  • Hey gally
As such a bargain think you can put calories to 0 ! ;)
(dont quote me on that! I do have 10lb or so to lose so my maths may be somewhat out on this!)
