I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Another good day. I have used up an approved food flapjack, leftover risotto from yesterdays dinner, 500g pork mince, the rest of a jar of tamarind pachadi and 2 mini naans.
Two dinners back in the freezer from the meatballs but I think I will plan a week of just eating up my home made ready meals and trying not to buy much fresh so that I can get them down a bit.
Now I'm thinking about tomorrow - bf has requested fajitas and a dvd so will be getting most of that as don't really have the stuff in. Thinking about lunch so I can use bits up.
I had no idea what haslet was-googled it and it sounds nice!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0 -
ammonite - try the Jamie Oliver tip with the custard.
Halve hot cross buns, spread with butter and jam and lay in oven-proof dish and pour over custard and bake - lovely and cheap pudding.
Just checked and I have one tin of custard, so a possibility tomorrow.
katskorner - well done with those bargains. The "summer" has been pretty awful, pretty humid, but not the long sunny days!!!!
I still need carrots, swede and eggs, but don't need until Thursday at earliest - hopefully some "whoopsy" veg will be on offer tomorrow.
I need some nice cheeses also, so Aldi and Lidl wil get a visit soon.
BTW - L'Oreal coupons have been updated for July ................. go get those new ones. :money:

Evening all. Ds went with his dad after all. Good... not that I want rid of ds, but more that his dad should take more responsibility.
Made ds and I the minced beef and potato pastry bake which was nice with carrots and broccoli. Defrosting chicken for tomorrow and have put some jerk sauce type seasoning on it. Not sure I'm going to like it tho as it I tried a bit and it nearly blew my head off... mouth was burning for ages, plus it's got an odd smell. Oh well, if it's rank I'll have to just smother it in tomato sauce.
Printed out a voucher for some face cream as I need some, thanks Lynsey. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Google 'custard powder biscuits' and you get things like this

Embarrassed Edwardia here.. sorry ammonite.. if I was able to eat custard powder (it's mostly cornflour and would spike my blood sugar sky high) I'd be eating the frozen custard myself
D - organic lamb shoulder steak (tasty but a tad chewy), wild samphire (mmm), Birds Eye frozen peas (yummy) and mushy Sainsbury's organic broccoli (eww not buying that again).. followed by strawberries and double cream (the Sainsbury's offer) with Yeo Valley organic natural yogurt. It's thinner than the Total Greek stuff but 1.48 not 2.39 for 500g and actually I like the sharper taste. No good for tzatziki though.
So where's Flo ? Miss her food gallery, hope she's OK.
Thanks soworried !
Got free range duck legs from Abel and Cole for dinner tomorrow, will see if they're better than those Gressingham ones I'm always raving about.
Still got some space in the freezer and want more fish but I found that though Morrisons fish counter looked impressive, the fish isn't as fresh as ASDA's. ASDA doesn't have much of a selection. Any fish lovers here shop at Sainsbury's please ? I'm visiting one Friday with my mother.0 -
Hi Everyone,
eleanor73 - well done on using up so much stuff. I use up stuff but tend to replace as fast as I use so not really the idea IYKWIM
Lynsey - thanks for the tip on the loreal vouchers - I got some of the bb cream last month and it was lovely!
ammonite/edwardia - I have a total obsession with evaporated milk - I just love it. I am a bit fussy about it though and really prefer the Carnation. I like it in coffee - when I lived in Germany everyone had their coffee like that and I got used to it.
Well DD2 was off sick today (she has the sore throat now) so we had a bacon roll at about 11 and then only had yoghurt for lunch, and for tea I used up a tin of tuna and made tuna crunch (tuna, mayo, red peppers, celery, onion, lemon juice) with baked potatoes. DD1 bought a load of Mullerlights yesterday and I am usually not keen on them, but she got the mint choc one and it was delicious!!
Tonight I popped into Sainsburys for some basics grated cheese (only cheese DD1 will have) and they had pineapple Solero lolly ices at 70p for a pack of 3 - I got several packs as they are nice and soothing for sore throats. I had one before and it was lovely - had chunks of pineapple in it!
The house is extremely messy at the moment due to me having loads of work on, but I am determined to make a start tomorrow!
Edwardia - Our Sainsburys has a fresh fish counter but I never buy anything because it always smells really "fishy" and I was told that means it isn't fresh. I live on the coast, right near the beach, and you would think that there would be a fishmonger but no - not for miles and miles - nearest one is about 15 miles away, and that isn't up to much. I do like fish, but I have to feel like it IYKWIM. I went to a restaurant last year and had red mullet and it was gorgeous, but when I looked to see if I could get it online it was sooooo expensive!Jane

Jane - I used to love evaporated milk too, can't have that anymore either, darned diabetes.
You're nice mum doing that for DD2 !
My mother lives near a seaside town and only one of the four supermarkets there even has a fish counter ! I think fewer people buy fish these days somehow. Yep you're right, if it smells fishy avoid and if it smells even slightly of ammonia it's off. Red mullet is a Mediterranean/African fish that's why it's more expensive, whereas I think grey mullet can be found in the English Channel IIRC.0 -

Morning all. Well, haven't been up long, but then I didn't go to bed til 2am either. Got plenty to do today... homework, clean the bathroom, bedrooms and do the ironing. Today will be a nsd.
Think I'll have poached egg for dinner. It's my jerk chicken for tea... :undecided hope it tastes nicer than it smells. I bought some small tins of pineapple to sweeten the taste if it's rank.
Need to go to tesco this week to get a pack of whatever has the legoland offer on, seems I've lost my B1G1F ticket that came with my clubcard points, so need to get a new one. Although the annual pass is half price so debating if that'd be worth it.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
