Did ok today. Used up sliced roast beef, a bit of horseradish (not sure what to use the rest up with-rarely have roast beef dinner) and some salad. Also used up some wraps and some salsa. Also used up a brownie cake mix that I won years ago!
Gave in to a couple of whoopsies - got guacamole for 40p (for the fajitas!) and lean steak mince for 90p (managed to sneak that in the freezer without bf seeing mwa ha ha ha!). I have made myself a rule - I can only buy whoopsies if they are for already planned meals or if they are meat or cheese (there is no way I could leave that!).
Tomorrow there is a free lunch at work and I'm out for a curry in the evening so I'm not managing to use anything up but that's ok-I'm due a day off!

seriously need to start using up our 2 choka block freezers and cupboards and larder, but i love ys. so for many reasons are going to use up our stores and only get essentials but will still look for cheap fruit and veg and mega bargains ... can't resist lol.

so tonight no fruit or veg bargains but did get a 20p double pack of cheese and garlic baguettes, and whlst we picked that up a staff member came over and asked if we would like a reduced steak pie and told us to take them both:j. so we got 2 malcolm allen steak mince pies for 36p each and a large pack of mince for 20p.

couldn't pass up those bargains x

Still got some space in the freezer and want more fish but I found that though Morrisons fish counter looked impressive, the fish isn't as fresh as ASDA's. ASDA doesn't have much of a selection. Any fish lovers here shop at Sainsbury's please ? I'm visiting one Friday with my mother.
I shop at Sainsbugs all the time and find their fish really good and they are better on marine conservation issues than the others but I do think it depends a lot on your branch. If you ask they will be able to tell you exactly how long the fish has been there and whether it was frozen at sea first. I often get fish marked down that's only been in 24hrs at our branch and its great and I'm super fussy about fish. they do loch trout which is similar to salmon which is very nice.

    !
I put a spoonful in mayonnaise to have with smoked salmon if that helps.

Morning all.... i wanna go back to bed... zzzzz

Ds was supposed to have his sports day today but they cancelled it yesterday saying the sports pitch is waterlogged. Bought ds a scooter and transformer from the argos mega reductions thread which needs to be picked up today. Will keep the transformer for xmas.

Need to buy milk and maybe sugar, but nothing else needed really. Having beef teriyaki for tea with rice and veg. The jury is still out in the jerk chicken. Not sure if I like it or not.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

That's a shame about sports day but the weather is truly awful isn't it :(

Not really going to be using anything much up today as I'm having a light dinner of soup after swimming and OH is out tonight. So just one tin of soup probably.

I hope you feel a little bit better Quintwins x

Edwardia, I prefer to buy our fish at our local fish quay. I go at 5am and I get lots of bargins and fresh off the boats. I don't know if you live near a quay or not.

3x Cheese and onion pasties out for lunches and also 2x duck breasts for dinner tonight.

6x 4pk of muffins 39p went in last night and also a loaf of bread priced at 29p.

I love little finds like that, little spent, but great value - well done.
I used to love coming out of Sainsbury's with 2 carrier bags full of fruit and veg for not much over £1 - beginning of the year it was typical.

Well done to all the other bargains, great "investments".

Off to Ikea in 30 mins for breakfast, but birds have had theirs. lol

Got a smallish unexpected "windfall" this morning, so Ikea shopping will be free ................. so might be my bag. :D

    Morning all !

Dinner last night included Abel & Cole free range duck legs which though cheaper than Gressingham weren't nearly as good. The buffalo mince was excellent though.

Did another order for next week to try more stuff and got a free litre of milk.

500g organic chicken drumsticks 2.75, 1kg organic chicken wings 1.99, 1kg organic beef bones 1.99, 500g free range pork mince 2.75, 1kg organic lamb bones 1.99, 360g mature Cheddar 3.59 (that's a lot cheaper than Cathedral City 350g in Tesco 4.38) so I don't think the prices are too bad really.

Soworried my nearest fishing fleet isn't MSC-certified and they're quite expensive too, whereas the fishery near my mother is MSC-certified and there are several great fish shops - the problem is bringing it home on the train :rotfl:

Lip_Stick - consolation is you've avoided all that muddy sports kit !

Quintwins - hope you feel better soon

blackandwhitebunny - thanks for that, will investigate Sainsbury's fish counter when out with my mother tomorrow

eleanor73 - tip from a local pub landlady, she would stir 1tsp horseradish into coleslaw, then serve it on a jacket spud. Used to love that, can't eat spuds now :(

chardonnay and sequeena - well done on the bargains :T

Meeting OH from station tonight and going to Morrisons to nose for bargains. Going to Waitrose, Sainsbury's, and Aldi tomorrow with my mother.
