eleanor73 - tip from a local pub landlady, she would stir 1tsp horseradish into coleslaw, then serve it on a jacket spud. Used to love that, can't eat spuds now :(

Oooh I might try that as I do make my own coleslaw. Thanks!!

Just defrosted the freezer and gobsmacked at how much stuff has been in there wayyyyy longer than it should have been.

Also not as much in there as I though there was - lots of gibbly bits like slices of birthday cake or left over cauliflower - a fair few cooked meals but nothing like what I'd imagined.

Anyway, got rid of all the stuff I don't use to my Mother's and got rid of the seriously out of date stuff and must try harder with putting labels and dates on when things go in!

Going to be more interesting to eat it all up with my new budget in mind - eek!

    Must not fail!

NSD so far, never got to Aldi or Lidl.
No bag either, but got my Ikea stuff and bits from Debenhams - quite a bit 70% off and some cheap dresses (good ones).

Got 2 shampoos and 2 conditioners (L'Oreal) from Superdrug for only 35p each (400ml each), using coupons (£1.85 minus £1.50).

Had breakfast (Ikea) and coffee and cake (using Groupon voucher), so not hungry. Hubby is going to make a chicken in blue cheese sauce pasta and use the rest of the cream to make some scones - I'll probably snack again!!!!

Not too sure if I'll venture out tonight, we'll see.
My Lidl meat weekend offer is the turkey steaks - don't want them, so keep budget down again.

I lied - I forgot my Mum was housing a significant number of meals in her freezer - they have just been transferred, so PLENTY of meals now!

Wish I lived by an Ikea Lynsey - ours is about 50 mins away (OH is thrilled that we can visit so infrequently LOL!)

    Lovely bargains everyone!

My OH is banned from supermarkets (aside from when he's working) as he just doesn't get this saving money thing. We got a little voucher book from Tesco through the post and he decided spending £3 on salami to get 50p off was perfectly acceptable and other things that we didn't need.

I did manage to get a pizza for 69p. In freezer for nights when baby is particularly difficult - like now. He has a viral infection, the capillaries on his face have burst from coughing so much and he is VERY angry.

Sequeena - give your little one a hug from me, bless him - hope he recovers quickly.

quintwins - hope you recover quick.

Anyone else suffering - get well soon.

Well done to to the "bargain hunters", not my bargains, but I love to see what others grab (sad I know, sorry!!!).

Not going out and registered my NSD (grocery) in the diary - bet there's cheap carrots tonight. lol

Scones were lovely, used cream and butter and followed a Richard Bertinet recipe (think it's in his "Dough" book) - a bit of a luxury, but 1st class results.
