Thanks recovering spendaholic! This is a lovely friendly thread but I must make sure I do what the title says as well as keep up with the chat as I desperately need to make some space.
Ideally we would like to move in the next year (neighbours from hell) so need to start thinking about eating stuff up and also my bf wants to have some space for himself in the freezer (how dare he??!!) and he has a point really when he sees me coming back from the whoopsy shop and asks if we need it all?! Also now I am onto Approved Foods I have lots of random things to use up!! I am such a hoarder!!
Last night I made myself get some sliced roast beef out of the freezer and some rolls and made todays lunch. I have a jar of horseradish that desperately needs using up (aaaaaggghhhh condiments!!!) so used a bit of that. So today at least a couple of little bits are getting used today!!
Oooh and I'll be using one pack of my Approved Food weightwatchers wraps for the fajitas.
Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.

D - organic lamb shoulder steak (tasty but a tad chewy), wild samphire (mmm), Birds Eye frozen peas (yummy) and mushy Sainsbury's organic broccoli (eww not buying that again).. followed by strawberries and double cream (the Sainsbury's offer) with Yeo Valley organic natural yogurt. It's thinner than the Total Greek stuff but 1.48 not 2.39 for 500g and actually I like the sharper taste. No good for tzatziki though.

Where do you find/ get your Samphire from Edwardia?

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon.

Just had my breakfast 1 hour ago!!

Had to pop out this morning and do some banking, so popped into Home Bargains again looking for my favourite Red Sky crisps (bacon and cheese), but none again (must stock up next time as they are only 59p per 150g bag). Did buy some sweets for 49p and a ginger cake for 39p - 88p spent.

Stopped off at Tesco on the way home to get some L'Oreal stuff - men's deodorants are half-price at £1.52, so only 2p each using coupons (got 4).
Also bought some pickle onions BOGOF (97p for 2 jars), 2 tubes of tomato puree @ 35p each and 2 x mozzarella @ 44p each - £2.55 spent there.
    Total so far = £3.43

Trying to stock up on non-freezer stuff this week and still want some cheeses.
Sainbury's later to get some more Cravendale and I'll have a look for "whoopsies", but don't really want any, unless double cream or veg.

Lynsey - that must qualify as brunch, weren't you hungry ?

jemb - I got the wild samphire from Abel & Cole 100g 2.25 but ASDA sells ASDA Extra Special (farmed) samphire 90g for 1.32 but it's often Israeli if that matters. Don't know any other supermarket that does it. There are companies online in Cornwall and Norfolk which sell it but I haven't used them myself. It's only just coming into season atm.

edited to add abel & cole now has the wild samphire on offer for 1.95

Edwardia - Don't be embarassed by me I'm really grateful for your suggestion :D

Thanks for all the other suggestions re: custard powder. Going to pick one or two of them and do something this weekend :)

Tonight's menu is slow cooked pork steaks with mushrooms and celery and I'll be cooking the two grotty potatoes in the cupboard to go with them and some peas.

As for fish counters I don't trust them :o I don't know how long the fish has been there - of course this ridiculous rule doesn't apply when buying a packaged one off the shelf. Something about the air getting to the fish on the counter puts me off !

A small chink of light can be seen in the freezer. It won't last - my Mum's housing at least 18 meals in her freezer which are mine that I didn't have room for!

Hmm.. you all know how I'm a disaster with keeping to a budget? Well I'm feeling inspired again by Lynsey :D I find it hard to stick to the monthly budget as some months I need more than others. This month I've barely spent anything but last month was a big meat buying month so I spent a lot.

Going to try and see what I can do with £700 over the next 5 months (i.e. until December). Should that be enough for 2 adults? I think if I keep a spreadsheet (I love them) I might stick to it (oooh for all of ten days no doubt....still I can try!). That will include food, household, and toiletries - no eating out. Will probably only have two big meat buys in that time based on what is in my freezer. Not having xmas dinner here so this should be OK.

Right, does £700 sound way too much? Could I do better?!

Going to Mr A's tonight with my campbells vouchers again to stock up on rice packets and condensed soups :)

Will that include your Christmas stuff ammonite ?

When we were completely broke, I had to start putting food by for Christmas in August. First Christmas together it was lucky my parents were veggies at the time so they got nut roast and the in laws got ASDA Smartprice turkey drumsticks :D

Actually I still buy those drumsticks for cold turkey for OH and stock. Very good value for money IMO

Depends on how much stash you have and how much "whoopsying" you can do, but £140 per month is do-able (if you have the stash and prepared to run it down).
I've got by spending just over £20 per week for 2, but not including household stuff or toiletries (can be got cheaply or free with coupons anyway).

I'll keep an eye on you. ;)

    Don't fail. :D

Good luck and nice to see your commitment. :T
