Used 2 jacket potatoes, 1 packet of rice and a tin of tuna plus salad out of the fridge for this evenings dinner.

Really pleased as been buying baby things with coupons found on the coupon thread (thanks Lynsey!). Got £32 worth of things for £7.50 so far - just wipes, nappies etc. Every little helps!

could someone tell me where this thread is please
  • Lynsey thanks for the info on the Vitalite - I actually buy the Aldi Love spread which we all like and it is only 99p so not too bad.

Miss_emmajane Hi and welcome to the thread. You will find lots of hints and tips and I have found that I waste so much less now that I come on here, plus I don't spend as much either.

Does anyone know where Florenceem is? Is she on holiday?

I was starving at about 9 so had a little bowl of sugar free muesli that has been in the lock and lock cereal box for a while. It was actually okay, but I was really hungry!!

DD2 is just making toast - I have found that the little Tesco round the corner are reducing their bread at around the same time every day and I have been getting a steady supply of Best of Both for 31p a loaf. Good value as it is okay bread, but not so nice that I want to scoff it like I do with my home made bread.

I printed off a load of vouchers before and now I wnat to go to Morrisons for the Velvet toilet tissue and to Boots for the l'oreal. Everything in Boots (make up, cream, hair stuff, bath stuff) is on 3 for 2 at the moment so the L'oreal vouchers are even more worth it as I use their foundation.

Haven't got anything out of the freezer for tomorrow yet, but we still have loads of curry left in the fridge, so I might not bother and we can have something from the cupboards and use up the curry at lunch (DD1 is off work).

DD1 is upstairs cleaning her room. This is an event of great significance as it has never happened before. She's even using flash and a bucket of water and a cloth.

    Hi,

Can I join in please? I have had a tummy bug for a week and can't help noticing it's all gone a bit mad-I have a pile of approved food bits in the corner of my living room, a full freezer, a full fridge (mainly jars of condiments, marinades, chutneys, curry pastes etc), full cupboards and even my freezer drawer in my fridge is full. During this week I fancied ice lollies but couldn't get my Mum to bring some round as no freezer space -it's getting beyond a joke and I need to take action!

Where do I start? When I'm better I could start eating the home made ready meals in the freezer but then that does nothing about the copious amounts of jars to cook with!
It's me and my bf by the way but he is no help as he is a gym bunny and generally just shoves piles of eggs and chicken in his mouth whilst lifting weights (bit of a lie but you get the jist!)

I have made two steps - listed everything in my freezer(s) and I have temporarily cancelled my veg box as I was getting nothing eaten as was spening all week worrying about using up random veg!

Any ideas anyone has I will be truly grateful!

Ah, I'll be back to join you again soon! Got a very full freezer but need some basics for my cupboard!!

  • Well I faiiled in my non buying whoopsies for the freezer task :o I got two packets of organic sausages in sainsbugs yesterday at 80p each - I couldn't leave them could I? Actually I got 4 but I'm taking two packets to work today for my friend. I also got posh blacksticks blue cheese from the deli counter for 50p down from £3.
I've given up buying full price fruit juice as I'm finding it marked down nearly every day at the moment. Or even better smoothies.:D
We're off to the local leisure center tonight with a free swim voucher from British gas. It's worth doing especially if you have children. You get two vouchers, one you have to book an exact day and the second is valid for a week, mine is for two adults but we had to say whether we were bringing children or not so I assume you get different ones.
We'll have the rest of last weeks bargain loch trout for dinner and use the chilli pesto in the fridge up. I spread it on the fish and then grill it, quick, easy and very tasty.
I have had one success, I took some of last years red currants out of the small freezer and have cooked them and sieved them and OH had some for breakfast with yoghurt. I need to do this with loads of fruit as we're avoiding puddings and I need to empty the upright freezer to defrost it.
    Have a good day all.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

morning all. Ds must have given me his bug as I feel shocking. Aching all over, hot and cold shivers, blinking gland under my jaw that feels like it's got a large spike attached. Didn't sleep a wink last night. Dad's coming to take ds to school TG.

Don't think I'll be eating much today. Got the extra spcecial fish pie out too. Going back to bed soon as ds has gone. Least I won't be buying anything.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

recovering spendaholic - how did the event of "great significance" go?! :D

    Good luck eleanor :)

blackandwhitebunny - thanks for the heads up about swimming :) Just got myself two free swims :) Was only complaining yesterday at the fact it is nearly £4 per swim these days!

Get well Lip_Stick - sounds like a tummy bug is going around I know a few people who have had it.

I have hummus on toast for lunch and possibly a chicken pie for dinner (one I made at the weekend). Unsure what DH will have.

Had a few nsd but i need bread today so will nip to lidl after i drop my mum at work, hubbys picking her up (and a bargain coal bunker, seriously when i was younger i'd never have guessed they were so expensive) so no whoopsie shop today.

morning all, just been in the kitchen re-arranging/tidying/sorting cupboards and the fridge (need a brew before I face the freezer! ;) )
So its pasta for lunch and then tea is sausages from the freezer, some veg that needs eating and supernoodles (i have about 8 packs!!!) to bulk it out so I use less of the sausage :)

Also discovered I have a crazy amount of crackers to use up, so husbands lunch for tomorrow will be crackers and cheese.

The sun is finally shining here today so time to play with the kids in the garden before attempting the freezer ;)

have a good day everyone, hope all toothaches and stomach bugs are getting better

Belated good morning - been busy!!

eleanor73 - welcome to the thread and good luck.

linseyg - good luck with couponing, have a good look at page 1 on the link ammonite posted.

Lots of ailments - hope ALL get well soon and don't suffer too much.

Jane - Aldi's "love spread" sounds interesting. lol
What do you use it for?? :D

I had porridge and hubby had the bacon and egg sandwich.
Used my last Wrights mixed grain bread-mix and made some bread buns.

Gardening today to keep out of shops ..................... well until later maybe!!
