recovering spendaholic as we're swapping spag bol recipes mine is slosh of EV olive oil, generous handful finely diced onion or shallot, 1 or 2 cloves crushed garlic if weekend/holiday, 500g British veal mince, handful fresh baby plum tomatoes stabbed to let juice out or 1 can tinned, HG bay leaf, slug of red wine if open, pinch of dried Herbes de Provence (Lidl), freshly ground black pepper and just before serving, some fresh basil and fresh thyme if I have it. I low carb so serve on sliced runner beans not spaghetti, with freshly grated Parmesan (Lidl).

    well done on the pizza

Lip_Stick pleased DS feeling a tad better

OH went to Sainsbo's and got 2 wild Alaskan salmon fillets for £3 for dinner - really lovely. Did low carb version of Hollandaise (well Hollandaise-ish) and had organic leeks.

Morning all. Ds decided to wake up at half past 5. Can't say I was impressed! After watching cartoons and eating grapes he decided to climb into my bed and go back to sleep.

Ds is having lamb meatballs for dinner. Don't know what I'm having. May get some seafood sticks out and have them with mayo on a jacket potato. Also need to use up some Jersey spuds I bought. Will make a potato salad with some of them I think.

Not sure what's for tea as I don't know if ds is with me or the folks.

Supposed to be going shopping with the folks this afternoon but am officially skint til a week on Monday. :(

recovering spendaholic - That's a good price you got for that book! The best I've done like that is buying a ps3 game for £8 and selling it for £16. Shame you didn't like the cake, despite having two big pieces!! :rotfl:
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

OH not feeling well and blaming cereal bars for er bunging him up so it seems I may be going shopping by self. He got out poussin, veal mince, wild North Atlantic shell-on prawns, Gressingham duck legs and diced lamb for weekend from freezer which seems a bit too much food to me !

Need veg, milk and cheese and because I'm losing weight so fast going to look in charity shops for linen or cotton trousers because £36 for 2 prs linen trousers which then are too baggy 3 weeks later would be expensive.

    Sunny here :)

    Morning, hope all are well.

NSD yesterday, busy decorating again. Veggie day completed.
Been to Lidl already as Brother wanted things and bought for myself:

    2 x pork medallions @ £1.29 each = £2.58
    1 pack choc biscuits (half-price) = 99p
    Total £3.57

    Tesco, got.
    Roule cheese (half-price) = 87p
Total for day so far = £4.44

Went to Tesco to get Son a "pressie" - Simonez bucket car kit for £5 and used £1.50 clubcard voucher - so £3.50.

Meeting Son later and 1st time we've met since Xmas - we talk a lot on phone though. He's picking up the car from up North (he's on bus now) and we are taking his Nana to see him also.
He needs to get back soon though as he needs to get back and up early tomorrow morning - bless him.
Fingers crossed all goes to plan - it's been an epic task!!!

Little bit cruel (but fun), we've bought him his Birthday card (Birthday later in year) and we are going to give him it to day with his "present" (car) and write on:
    Happy Birthday
    2012
    2013
    2014
    2015
    etc, etc, etc. lol

His boot will almost be full with another "hamper" we are taking down - reducing stash even further - mostly free or near free stuff though, but well over £50 in value - saves them pennies ................ again.
I'll have to start couponing again BIG STYLE! :D

Breakfast was bacon sandwich and lunch will be when we meet later, probably Wetherspoons cheap 2 for £5.99 meals.
    Toasted tea-cakes later.

Must hit Sainsbury's later for the Vitalite and not too bothered with "whoopsies", but will take a wee look.
Still got £10'ish to spend within weeks budget.

ms_night_ryder - you don't have to activated your Groupon credit straight away - I usually wait a few days or even a week to see if anything decent pops up first. After a week of no value, I would activate it and watch for the 10 day and keep fingers crossed. Good luck though, I'm waiting for quite a few from next week.

  • Morning all! Weather here is much improved today so have got the lines full of washing thank goodness.

    Glad DS seems better Lip_stick!

Haven't had any breakfast as wasn't hungry and am just having a cup of coffee. I finally made the coronation chicken though - just did it with the leftover chicken from last night (I roasted a couple of breasts to make the sandwiches for DD's tea party), and mixed it with a little onion, sultanas, toasted flaked almonds, bit of mango chutney, lemon juice, salt and pepper, curry powder and some lite mayo. Tastes okay too so will have that for lunch.

Edwardia - how much weight have you lost altogether?

Thanks for the groupon stuff Lynsey!

I have lamb meatballs out of the freezer to use for tea but I usually make them with raita and I don't have any natural yoghurt. Might send DD2 round to the little Tesco for some, so I'm not tempted to buy anything.

Lynsey the credits i got had to be activated yesterday or today only, so did them both yesterday, i have one left and am expecting another in 3 days, was going to buy some banksy mugs to put by for crimbo, but i think i should save it, something better hopefully will come up in the next 3 days, im going to see what is the best high value crimbo pressie i can get from this only adding up to £5 more if i feel it is worth it, most gifts mean a delivery charge so thats an added cost too. obv with a meal once a week lol, its nice to get a cheap meal where you dont have to cook and can go with company and share. I am also hoping for some good cupcake deals lol there was one for £12 for 6 cupcakes but i didnt have any credits, so didnt want to pay the price lol, long may it live i say.

My shoulder and neck are really hurting today i woke up and that area was burning, did a little washing up, but had to stop because i started aching, got a quick job to do later, but i have decided im not cooking today, will order chinese, had a burger no bun and 2 small slices of pizza that were in the freezer for lunch, order chinese about 6pm.

Went to ASDA today and spent WAY too much; £50 for the week! One isn't happy. I bought some yellow sticker bits - Turkey Mince x 3 and Turkey Sausages. So I've made bulk stock of sausages and onion, spag bol and pasta bake. That will do!
Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt! :D:D

recovering spendaholic in total I'm down from size 24 to 16 and that's baggy now so probably hovering around 14 I guess..In May, I had lost four inches off my waist since December.. my mother is a serial dieter and some of my earliest memories are of her eating Ryvita and cottage cheese and Mondays being liquid days eww.. so I never weigh myself or count calories.

ms_night_ryder hope you feel better soon !

Kitty_Ears £50 for a week is good. I've just had a Tesco delivery of 38.40 that was virtually all special offers with delivery 'paid' for with Clubcard vouchers and I need to go to ASDA for more veg !

wow that is a great weight loss well done Edwardia - have you just done that through healthy eating?

Lynsey - That sounds so sweet to give your son a hamper and his car!

OK, so I did end up in Tesco but bought lots of things to batch cook for me, we seem to be overran with curries etc which I can't eat (OH can) so everytime I look for food I find nothing.

    Made:
4 chicken, bacon and mushroom pies
3 portions of pork, bacon and mushroom in mushroom sauce
3 portions of bolognaise (plus 2 for tonight's dinner)
    a batch of sausage rolls
6 mini pork escalopes (5 left now, I had to "sample" one).

Got over keen with squeezing the sausage meat out of the sausages, ran out of pastry so now have a bowlful of sausage meat that I need to use up.......what can I make with it?

Total shop was £58 but that had loads of meat (still have a huge beef joint to casserole and freeze tomorrow that was £15 alone). Have plenty of meals in the freezer now and the cupboards are looking better, used up my puff pastry, used up the breadcrumbs, used 2 tins of sauce, used a packet of bacon, 8 portions of mince and about 15 sausages. So although the freezer is full, it is functionally full!

I usually use sausagemeat to make meatloaf - it delicious and you can eat it hot or cold on sandwiches. I just chop an onion really finely and fry it until soft and then mix this with the sausagemeat and equal quantities of mince, pinch of mixed herbs, salt and pepper and a handful of fresh breadcrumbs. you just mix it all up and put it in a loaf tin and bake for about an hour to an hour and a half. If you want you can tart it up by adding mustard or other spices but I don't bother.

Well done on the weight loss Edwardia! (she said munching on a slice of bread with cheese on while typing). I too have lost quite alot of weight recently but am nowhere near a size 16 yet! My Mum wasn't a serial dieter but more a serial not eater - she could go for days without eating anything and was obsessed with thinness. She was always going on about my weight and I wasn't even fat then - I am nearly 6 ft tall and weighed about ten and a half stone. Good job she can't see me now!!

Am just cooking the tea - DD2 only wanted beans on toast so she was easily fed. DD1 is having chicken with savoury rice (not voluntarily but it was the best I could come up with as she is in a really picky mood) and I am having a baked potato with cheese and coleslaw. So all in all an easy tea - NSD day too:T

    Have a great evening everyone!
