I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

haha ms_night_ryder.. thought so!
The chicken is raw. Was going to do something with it just now but will leave it til morning. Can't be bothered.
Lynsey - that pirates outfit never turned up so I contacted the seller who gave me a refund straight away. Strange tho because last week a squirty calculator turned up which I thought was a runner up comp prize but I'm sure it was from that seller as I thought a joke shop item was a bit unusual for a fancy dress shop to be giving away lol. Reckon they ran out of the outfits. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Lip_Stick there's a how to joint a chicken video on You Tube done by Gordon Ramsay - it's really easy.
Just watched The Men Who Made Us Fat episode 2 on BBC iplayer and it makes me feel ick watching all that wobbly fat waddling about, especially cos that used to be me too in 2001. :eek:0 -
Morning.
Jane - Birthday wishes to your Daughter, hope she has a lovely day.
Lip_Stick - No pirate suit?? That'll stop your pillaging for a while. lol
Re Lucky Son. He's sadly been unlucky in the past, but know what you mean. This car will/should make life easier for him - he's been getting up at 5am of late to be where he needs to be on time - long days and extra travelling. Though not too sure if driving is quicker than transport in London!! He needs to be in various locations over the next few weeks/months and needs transport. It was either buying or renting and hopefully we've made the right "gamble". There were vouchers involved. lol £300 from the Vauxhall site and there was a £500 fuel credit if ordering over last weekend - that's on top of the free insurance and 0% finance. (more lol's).
You can learn a few tips from MSE.
Not the best deal for all, but taking into account the free insurance, it was the best deal for him.
Veggie day today and just had toast with cheese on top again. Probably a cheese omelette later and not sure what else.
Only 2 more "veggie days" to go and it's all over.
Only next week to survive with the £25 budget and I was going to try a £15 budget week per month, but decided NO more targets and just to "go with the flow".
Any target should be clearing one freezer, but won't commit to that.
One thing I do know though - I could still survive with what I have for months just by topping up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning all.
Ds and I slept in.I didn't get up til 8:15 and I had a job getting ds up who was bursting into tears cos he was tired. Managed to get him out on time although he's only had a bit of milk, poor thing.
I got some of the cajun beef out which I'm going to have in lettuce wraps for my dinner. Tea is either a choice of a beef and potato long pastry thing, or some of the lamb mince.
Mam and dad are back from their hols today and sounds like they had a good time.
Need to cut up that chicken. Will go check out that video, thanks Edwardia.
Lynsey - I had plans for that pirate suit and wearing it with a certain moustache at a pub.
Edwardia - going to try catch up on that programme today. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
morning all
Wow lynsey wish someone would buy me a brand new car, we will be buying our kids a car when there old enough but it will be a cheapy run around.
I'll prob watch the men that made us fat over the weekend.
Ds is alot better today so we will be going to the cinema tomorrow, need to go to poundland but it's pouring down, me a hubby decided we'd bring a tub of half price hagendaz, it's freezes too much in our freezer anyway so by the time we get there will be nice and soft, so i only need sweets for the kids and drinks for us.
lamb i got reduced the other day was acually only 28p not the 34p i thought and is flashed at £2.50 down from £4making casarole tonight with mash and maybe a few yorkshires if i get near tesco ( won't have time to make my own today as i won't be home til 6 and kids go to bed at 7 so i need everything ready to switch on, i have some carrots and parsnips in the freezer also bought from whoopsies, even if i buy yorkshires our dinner for 5 of us will come in around £1
breakfast- toast and jam (bread from freezer)
lunch- pot noodles (need to use these but as there taking up alot of room)
dinner- lamb casarole with carrots and parsnips, mash and yorkshiresDEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
Thanks for all the applause re: my "under £10" shop
also thanks for the suggestions of what to make for the freezer.
Will be making mushroom soup today with my mushrooms.
Not sure what to have for dinner tonight. Has anyone got a good bolognaise recipe that is quite mild? Mine always tastes really, really tomatoey which I'm not keen on.0 -
Well just jointed the chicken the Gordon Ramsey way! Didn't do too bad, only cut myself once.
In the middle of doing it, ds' school has ran asking me to pick him up, as he is feeling poorly and is now asleep in the book corner.. aww. I did think he felt a bit warm this morning. Will pick up a few things from shops as I pass them, before I collect him.
Might have to change meal plans if ds isn't eating.
Just wondering what to do with the carcus, I know I could make a stock but there's still a bit of meat on it, not a lot but seems a bit of a waste lol, so perhaps I'll made chicken soup.
quintwins - I went to the cinema kids club not so long ago and a family had brought in hot subway sandwiches lol. Different I suppose!
ammonite - your bolognaise might be less tomatoey if you don't add the tomato juice of the chopped toms, perhaps.
Right, best get my tush moving... out into the horrid weather... urghThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Wow lynsey wish someone would buy me a brand new car, we will be buying our kids a car when there old enough but it will be a cheapy run around.
We're only sharing the costs not buying him a car. lol
He'll be paying slightly more than 50% (around 55%) and we'll pay the rest.
Originally we were going to give him our car, probably what he was hinting at, but high insurance quotes (London loading) put paid to that.
We would have then had the new car.
ammonite - maybe you are putting in too much tomato puree??
About a 1/3rd tube of puree for 500g mince should be milder, use with one can of tomatoes.
I like mine more tomatoey and usually use one small tin to 375g mince.

Did that not stink? i like subway but i find the smell really overpowering.
I'm being very bad and making a bag of micro poporn to bring with us, last time we went i have some AF popcorn but they were big bags and more than i'd like them to have and it's all gone now so atleast i can control the portions this way, we won't be buying anything in the cinema tomorrow, which makes me feel abit tight, i'll only be spending £6 and i'll be claiming back my £1 parking aswell lol but it is suppose to be a cheap day out and there quite so hopefully glad of the business.
Aww lynsey with all your money saving you deserve a new car, we've never had a new car we've had 2 new to us cars tho i'm not all thats fussed aslong as it runs, one day i'll get a brand new shiney car.....just not one day soon.:rotfl:DEC GC £463.67/£450

Thanks Lynsey - I actually just make it up as I go along to taste so that's probably where I'm going wrong
:rotfl: was thinking of making the sauce with pureed carrots and tomato puree instead of chopped tomatoes and tomato puree just to water it down a bit.
2 batches of mushroom soup going into the freezer. Made three but will eat one today. 85p for mushrooms and 17p per potato - worked out at 34p per batch and tastes much nicer than tinned stuff.
There is light in my freezer! I don't have too much more batch cooked food (have about 15 plastic tubs instead of the usual 50!), half of the freezer is taken up with bread which should last us about 2 weeks. Beyond that there are a few ice lollies, my staple bags of microwaveable rice, some BBQ items and a decreasing supply of meat. Mainly have mince left as it is my least favourite but I'll have to start making something with it (probably the bolognaise).
The plan is to defrost the freezer over the summer as its getting very snowy and then fill the freezer with lots of batch cooked items in preparation for the arrival of baby ammonite later in the year.
I can see lots of random meals taking place soon!0
