I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Morning all. Ds is with his dad and nanna today so it's just me, and the housework. Let ds have a muffin for brekkie but he didn't eat much of it so I ate the rest lol. Sent a couple of muffins with his dad for them tonight otherwise I'd eat um!
For dinner I think I might have poached egg and for tea I'll probably have kung po chicken with lo fried rice cooked, not got the cashew nuts or coriander the recipe asks for, but not bothered!
[STRIKE]Sunday - Lunch Soup, Tea Cumberland pie and veg
Monday - HM Bolognese from freezer
Tuesday - chicken tonight with rice[/STRIKE]
Wednesday - Kung po chicken
Thursday - Apricot stuffing things with veg
Friday - Venison but subject to change
Saturday - Rack of Lamb (Think I'll change this to a fish dish!)
Sunday - not sure if ds is with me or his dad so will plan later.
Edwardia - It's shocking what the supermarkets do to food.
Lynsey - don't often buy sauces either really. When I do they tend to be the better tomato base sauces. Never in my life bought ragu or dolmio. Can't believe you've got 20+ of one sauce tho lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
AlwaysHappy thanks for the compliment
Lynsey, if a supermarket adds 10% water to every chicken breast the eleventh breast is pure profit. It's got zilch to do with added succulence. The water leaks out as soon as the breast is heated.
When it comes to prawns, the original ice glaze on a shelled prawn will protect it. But any additional layer/s of ice are most likely due to bad storage. Potentially the prawns could have defrosted and re-frozen in the supermarket. I bought some langoustine in Morrisons and from the smell when they defrosted, I knew that had happened.
Lip_Stick.. yep I've been really shocked by what the supermarkets will admit to. IMO they should label everything - they don't cos they realise we wouldn't buy it.
Everyone should be able to buy healthy food IMO.
My first Approved Food order arrives today. Could be my last since not impressed by their delivery charge.
To those menu planning well done, OH refuses to do this as he doesn't want to know on Monday what he's having for dinner on Friday <rolls eyes>0 -
I've pulled out smoked fish here to make a kedgeree. We all had 2 tins of beans and sausage topped with mash and cheese for dinner last night.£36/£240
£5522

Edwardia - scary about what supermarkets do to thier food!! makes you wonder what on earth youre eating eh!? We do have a farm shop and a butchers near us and the meat is delicious but so much more expensive... but it does make me think maybe its worth it for good quality meat/fish/eggs and then top up the rest with veggie meals etc..
Finishing up last of bread, milk and eggs before we go away for a few days - and the sun is shining hurrah! bread and milk in freezer for when we get back plus at least 6 days worth of meals in freezer before any shopping needed by which point it will be almost payday-hurrah!!
may have to pop into lidl at weekend for 19p chocolate tho....0 -
It is.. of the supermarkets I've got answers out of so far, only Waitrose refuses to allow farmers to feed GM food across all ranges. Morrisons says only organic range has nothing fed with GM feed. Red Tractor scheme allows GM feed, I was given the website for farmers with all the rules ! ASDA allows GM feed for everything, Sainsbury's for some ranges only.
re: the Lidl 19p chocolate.. Lidl leaflet just dropped thru door and it says maximum 6 per customer.0 -
Lip_Stick - I had over 50 jars of Dallaglio sauces (4 types), they were 99p in Morries a last year and there was a PDF coupon for £1.00 - paid me a penny to take them away. lol
Son and flatmates got most of them and will get most of what's left when I send the next parcel.
BTW, just posted another asda wine offer on GRABBIT - 1 litre of Chardonnay for £3!!
Edwardia - was it the chocolate that was limited to 6 bars??
Normally the limit is only ever on the meat offers.
It's have to be multiple visits if only 6.
I need 30 bars, I want 30 bars and I'll get 30 bars. lol
Spend a few £1's today, but not much.
I had 2 £1.50 x L'Oreal shampoo coupons, so went to Sainsbury's as 400ml are half-price (£1.89) - so only 39p with coupon - got 1 shampoo and 1 conditioner.
Spent £1 on 2 x Cravendale using 2 x 50p coupons.
Asda:
2 x bloomer (70p each or 2 for £1) = £1.00
3 x pate (reduced to 35p each) = £1.05
£3.05 spent and that's the weeks total so far.
Only need fruit, veg and ........................... chocolate!!
Crisps also, no stock update yet in B&M's for the ones I buy, hopefully Home Bargains will come to the rescue on Saturday.

Bossy Florenceem doesn't want that sort of talk! No one is going to force you to eat biscuits. I have chocolate in the house but don't eat it! I have various treats in as well for my Grandchildren - I choose not to eat them.

Just had an email from a local pub offering 50% off their new menu, but only valid for 1 week - will try and use that either over the weekend or next week.
Managed to get a few free drinks out of them also. lol
Saves both time and pennies cooking meals - probably 2 x carveries, a pint and a glass of wine for £6'ish. :money:
