  • Lynsey - great news about your son!! He must be made up.

Edwardia - glad the hospital appointment went okay.

I was going to do the pasta and meatballs for tea but I ended up using one of the ASda 25p green mexican spicy rice sachets with chicken breast and it was really nice. I pepped it up with a bit of lemon juice.

This afternoon I did a big clear out of my packets cupboard. Goodness me the stuff I found!! I did bin some 2009 packets of stuffing and savoury rice but all in all I came across stuff I didn't know I had which is a bit like shopping really!!

Found a pack of ravioli which DD2 had for tea so that is a bit more used up.

This afternoon I made a batch of flapjacks and then cut and froze them individually so that I can take one out each morning for DD2's lunchbox. I used an 8oz oats mixture and it made24 flapjacks so good value.

I have a giant tub of Sainsburys basics natural yoghurt - anyone got any good ideas of what to do with it?

ammonite - lamb and supernoodles sounds really nice actually!! I LOVE supernoodles!

People on the low carb thread stuff natural/Greek yogurt all the time.. either fresh or frozen berries stirred in or nuts and seeds as a quick breakfast thing. Yogurt can be used instead of creme fraiche and gently heated when making sauces (Dukan diet does it a lot).

Another use is to swirl into soup when serving or dollop on top of goulash or chilli con carne or stir into swede and celeriac mash instead of butter. Then there's Indian style raita to accompany curries, and Greek-style tzatziki to accompany kebabs and salads. Yogurt is used a lot in Turkey so you should be able to Google some recipes.

And you can always chuck it in smoothies..

    Evening all

Went to Asda againnnn. This time to pick up some Good stuff pasta for my brother. He said he'd tried the garlic and basil linguine and thought it was really nice. Also bought a few more packs of each for myself. :o Picked up a blueberry muffin mix too for 50p.

Did an inventory this afternoon of freezer stuff. Going to cross reference it with my previous one to see what has been hanging around the longest lol. I'm actually able to open drawers now, which is a bonus.

Had lovely hm bolognese for tea with some of the linguine that I bought. Ds had ice cream with a hm peanut butter fudge sauce with it. I was supposed to have made fudge but failed miserably, due to missing out the part where you boil the mixture when I wrote the recipe.

Lynsey - fab news about your son, bet that's put you all on a high.

ammonite - love the mystery meat phrase, funnily enough, I found some of that myself when doing my freezer inventory. :D

Edwardia - Glad the appointment went better than you thought it would. :)

Talking of hospitals, ds is getting his ear grommets put in on Monday and will have to go under so hope I remember about not giving him brekkie after a certain time. The really annoying thing is, the blinking olympic torch will be in the city on that day! Bet I miss the once in a lifetime event!:mad:

Thanks for the wishes re Son - he deserves a break after all the effort and he's very happy. Not been an easy few years for him, but hopefully this is the turn.
I shed a few tears myself ........................... but this was down to peeling onions!! :D

Lip_Stick - wishes to your little one, hope all goes well.

Veggie day completed and another NSD, just the "freebies" earlier.
Got to stay in for a few deliveries tomorrow, so another possible NSD.
Took out a suet pie thing for hubby, I'm not eating too much at the minute and will probably snack - bacon sandwiches for breakfast. I'll either make some more scones tomorrow or possibly an apple pie.
A few gaps are appearing again, but I think it would need a very frugal month to show any significant difference. I'll have to start using up a joint or two to make some more space, maybe the weekend or next week - meal planning is a weakness!!!

Going to book the Groupon for Thursday if possible, so easy day.

This morning I have defrosed a couple of pints of milk so that I don't have to step into a sm. Have also taken out some chicken slices for oh sandwiches tomorrow so hopefully no spends for me today.
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Morning all.... I feel like chicken tonight, like chicken tonight!

Guess what I'll be having for tea. First time I've had it, so not sure what I'm going to think of it lol. It's honey and mustard, and I'll be serving it with red pepper, sliced onion and rice I think. Not sure I've got rice but I remember seeing some, some distant time ago.

Need to sort out my cupboards and put the stockpile I've acquired, like pasta and olive oil, on top of the kitchen cupboards.

I will not visit a supermarket... I will not visit a supermarket.... but I do wonder if they've restocked any rtc bargains. :o

Thanks for the good wishes re ds Lynsey. Can you also wish me luck that we'll be out on time to see the Olympic torch that passes virtually at the bottom of my street lol.

Forgot to say to ammonite... lamb and supernoodles... sounds vile!

Lynsey- Great news for your son.
Edwardia- I'm glad the hospital went well
Lipstick- I hope your little boys op goes well
Ammonite- I have a couple of mystery meats also, I think a curry is in order to use them up.

I don't know what to have today, I'm feeling down for some reason and can't be bothered to think what to make. I have some LO mash from yesterday so I will have to use that up in some way.
