I used to wake up every morning about 6am, have coffee an go through the GRABBIT's - get in early before everyone else!!
Bought quite a few tv's (sold on) and other great bargains [STRIKE]in the loft somewhere[/STRIKE] which were too good to miss.
Totted up weeks spends so far and only spent £10.22 .............. don't know why I'm panicking?? lol
Probably worried about lack of space .............................. and that's only because there's not been any cheap freezers on the GRABBIT forum.
NSD, never ventured into a shop and tester tomorrow as I need to go into Newcastle and pass many supermarkets - good ones as well. :rotfl:
Definitely another NSD tomorrow and hopefully a frugal Saturday - a £15'ish week would be nice.
Weather starting to turn iffy up here now - katskorner, are you sending all the rain up here?? Hope it picks up on the south coast for you.
Apple and sultana pie was excellent and even made my own pastry!!

Mr F ventured into the garage freezer - took out a sultana muffin and a tub of HM crumble - small space in there! :j
I got some HM salmon quiche and rump steak out of the small freezer. Quiche for tomorrow and steak for Saturday.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

spent most of the day taking DD2 to the hospital as we went to the GP's for a blood test for her and she became hysterical as she has a real phobia of needles. The GP said that she would have to have it done at the hospital so we went up there and then had to wait. Got home about 5pm and was too tired to cook and so I did what i said I WOULDNT and went to the chip shop on the corner and got a fish, two chips and two fish cakes. I am really annoyed because it was all horrible - not very hot and really greasy. Serves me right!!
After my trawl round Asda this morning I have loads more stuff in the cupboards. Will have to do sort out a menu plan so i am more prepared than I was today!Jane

Evening all.
Really narked off as I went to Asda to look for the bargains, and I could certainly see they had some. Shame everyone else had beat me to them, so all there was, was empty spaces. Manages to get a few things, but not the great bargains that's been posted. Only good one was some garlic and basil spaghetti reduced from 99p to 25p. It is dark green, and doesn't look that appetising. Still bought it tho lol. Figured if I didn't like it, the rats would have it.
Still spent £7 on various things.
Had puffed pasty with goats cheese, mushrooms, toms, onion and ham on for tea.
Not sure about meals tomorrow as ds is off to mam's for the night. The folks are going to Spain on Tuesday for a couple of weeks so they want to see him before they go.
Jane - sorry to hear about what happened at the docs, bet you're glad to get your feet up now. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Hi all
Another NSD yesterday, so pleased with myself as that is 3/5 days NSD - unheard of for me!! Will be shopping today as I do my main grocery shop on a Friday but have done a meal plan for next week so don't really need a huge amount just all the fresh stuff.
Linsey - think it has been easy for me to do this week as it is my first week and I am determined to get my big freezer defrosted this summer. I normally do it twice a year but with being pregnant and then DS2 being born last July I haven't done it for the last couple of years and have just been adding more and more. It was a bit of a scare when I inventoried everything I had in there:eek:. Small freezer in the utility is not so bad as that is the stuff we use quite quickly like veg, potato products, childrens meals etc but I need to get them both defrosted and cleaned.
I also have tonnes of stuff in my store cupboards which have been there for ages so need to get that used up too. Made a start yesterday by making hob nobs and millies cookies which have gone down a storm with DH and DS1. Will have to freeze some though as they are already disappearing rather fast and that's just me! DH has decided he is taking a hob nob for his breakfast every morning as the oats will be good for his cohlestoral - I am not convinced seeing what else is in them:rotfl:, but it is better than him having nothing which is what he does at present.
Katskorner - hope you manage to get away in the caravan ok and the weather isn't too terrible for you.
Jane - sorry your DD had such a horrid time with her bloods. Can't blame you getting fish and chips you probably both needed a pick me up.
Lipstick - shame you didn't get any asda bargins. The spaghetti sounds interesting - have to say not suprised it was reduced lol
[STRIKE]Sunday: adults - thai fishcakes and salad; kids - fish, homemade
wedges and carrots
Monday: all - shepherds pie
Tuesday: all - roast ham, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese
Wednesday: adults - chilli and rice, ds1 - meatballs, chips and veg, ds2 - beefy tomato and mash
Thursday: all - sausages, mash and peas
[/STRIKE]
Friday: adults - baked camembert with continental hams and petit pains, DS1 - Pizza, ds2 - fish pie
Saturday: adults and DS1 - pizza hut (DS1's birthday so taking him and friends to cinema and pizza hut) DS2 - meal at grandma and grandpa's
Sunday: all - chicken wrapped in bacon with cubed potatoes and veg0 -
Morning.
Jane - hope all is well. You did well getting some Asda stuff as spaces were empty in my store last time, most anyway.
I hate cr4p fish and chips and luckily we have several good ones close by - never had fish and chips for what seems like ages now from the chippy, maybe a treat soon.
Maisie M - impressed by how disciplined you've been - hope some of it rubs off on me!! Well done.
Veggie day 2 of the week (6 to go after today) and toast with jam again. Veggie stir fry later and probably a cheese and onion toastie.
Can't wait to finish this 3 month veggie experiment and too late on to give up now.
Next 3 months (July, August and September), I'm going to plan one week per month with a max £15 budget - keep away from the shops for a week!!
Definitely not summer weather!!
Flaming June?? Flaming wet!!

I know what you mean about the weather Lynsey - I have taken the week off work to sit in the garden in the sunshine. Alas there is no sunshine to sit in
After a week of eating out at friend's houses and being a lady who lunches, it is time to make some proper food and cook! First stop, the fridge to use up the fresh food. Also need to cook and freeze the potatoes....slight problem in that there is no ruddy room in the freezer due to the huge bulk buying of bread in CostcoI'll have to see what I can do! Got to the point of being fed up of eating party and BBQ food, looking forward to a normal meal!

need to check through the fridges today to see what will keep till we come back and what needs to be taken with us or used today. Also got to plant about 15 trays of bedding plants so hopefully the rain might go away or I shall get wet!
Transferring to caravan freezer today so that will give us some room back although not loads - saying that digging out a lasagne for tomorrow's dinner along with a loaf of bread and that is before I add anymore so that is good. Will also be adding chicken breast, sausages, prawns, quiche, salmon (hoping I can get the salmon in). Not bad really! Might also dig out garlic bread or ciabatta to go with the lasagne.
Not sure what we are having tonight but the fridge will be the guide for that later.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

NicoleWild - welcome to the thread - good luck. Have a look at sites like supercook.com to see what comes up with your ingredients - you'll be amazed at times!!
Hi Lynsey - I would also like to suggest recipepicker.com as a good site for finding recipes based on what ingredients you have. As well as what you want you can also say what things you don't want included. Also you can specify dietary requirements and preferred cooking methods. The site is completely free of adverts or hidden sponsor links.
I have found some really interesting recipes making great use of things left over. I think I saw something like this mentioned on the Apprentice the other day.0 -
Morning all, another wet and windy day here - ah, the great British summer!!! Today, I have taken a brisket of beef out of one of the drawers for lunch tomorrow - it was quite large but hasn't exactly made any "space" but things in that drawer have now settled into a neater arrangement and the drawer closes a bit easier - baby steps!!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0
