On his freezer expedition Mr F got out some sausage rolls, a sultana scone and a sultana muffin. Into that space he put some bread rolls!

Popped into Asda to look at the "bargains", mainly the reduced chilli and stir fry oil ..................... but full price still, so left them - maybe another day??

Got 2 x Anchor Light squirty cream for £1 each and used 2 x 50p coupons, so £1 spent so far today.
Found another 2 x £2.50 L'oreal skincare coupons, so back to Morries in a day or two!!

Had my bacon sandwiches and cheese and onion toasties and made rhubarb and apple crumble, in oven now.
Making a cottage pie for tomorrow, gets rid of some veg also and cooking that in a minute. Need to decide what else to eat tomorrow, need to use freezer stuff if possible.

Sainsbury's later, see what's on offer tonight. lol

    Update total later.

  • Hi Everyone!

The kind people at the Tax Credits didn't pay me because they say I was overpaid so that has thrown my carefully worked out budget into chaos! Luckily Ex DH has just transferred £300 into my account to tide me over until fees come in early next week.

Lip_stick - DD2 is just 14. She has put on about 3 stone or more in the last few months - it is really noticeable and I have had to buy her all new school uniform. I have talked to her about it but she maintains that she is hungry all the time. We will have to see what the blood tests and scans at the hospital show - it does worry me though. She is out with her Dad this afternoon (He is out of hospital now) so he won't let her eat junk as he's a health freak.

Went into Aldi this morning for almonds and sultanas as I want to make Coronation chicken. I will probably do it tomorrow as DD2 is out for tea and DD1 won't eat that so will do shredded beef with green peppers in a chilli sauce (stir fry kind of thing) with boiled rice for tea tonight. We had bacon and egg for lunch and I feel a bit icky after it - I think it is because my stomach is "nervy" after the to do with the tax credits.

Might think about making some pitta breads later. Does anyone who makes bread find that the hm stuff doesn't freeze very well? When I defrost it it always seems to go hard really quickly.

Well my Turkish balls turned out ok lol. Tasted quite nice and will make them again for a healthy low-something lunch. Lovely with lemon juice on them. Don't think I ate til late though so going to be a late tea for me tonight.

Lynsey - have been holding off going to asda for the rtc bargains. Will pop tomorrow to get a small amount of shopping but can't see them having the offers like some have picked up. Will have to remember to pick up some squirty cream!

Jane, I was watching that secret eaters on tv the other week. The adults ended up making a large home made fruit salad in an air tight container kept in the fridge, so they could grab a bowl when hungry. Might be an idea for your dd2.

Tax credits, make sure you always over estimate as you get a lump sum at the end of the year. Mind you, with you being self-employed, bet it's easier said than done lol.

Never made home made bread and froze it, apart from the cheesy bread that's in the freezer now, and have yet to defrost any, but it's a scone type bread so will see how that goes.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    Hey all.

Used up some cucumber and most of an avacado and 3 sausages,to make a filler with mayo, had that for lunch with an apple, woke up too late for brekkie, took out a reggae reggae ready meal from freezer, whoopsie from the other day, still not much room in freezer, I did take out a pitta for today's lunch as well.

Need to take out tomorrow's food, I'm not sure what it will be yet. Have 2 Apple crumbles that need using up.

Been to Mom's today so two meals fed to boys and lunch for me there. Nice :).

Did shop today as there is a brilliant freezer cheapy store by folks and worth checking. Only bought Hash browns bag and lemon sole goujons (which are lovely) so not too bad. In sainsbobs I got 3 reduced pizzeas (freshly made and only 99p each) as well as a quiches for 49p and 2 packs sweet chilli kebabs were 2 for 5 but reduced to 69p each. All in freezer now.

Out of freezer has come two seeded plaice fillets which we are having with salad and homemade bread (hubby cooking - lovely!)

Digging out stuff for hols tomorrow to transfer to caravan fridge and freezer. Happy days. Please all PRAY for GOOD WEATHER in WEYMOUTH for TWO WEEKS many thanks. Amen.

katskorner - good luck with the weather, hope we all get the sun soon. Enjoy though, have a great holiday.

Maisie M - I'm full of admiration at your self-control, well done and wish I had the same self-control!!

Went to Sainsbury's tonight and came our feeling like a naughty child!!!
Didn't want anything, didn't need anything and when I first went in, there was nothing really reduced enough to entice me. Great, I had a look at the cooking stuff and spices.
    Bought:
Bart ginger powder reduced to 20p
Bart pepper in grinder reduced to 20p (need pepper like "a hole in the head")
McDougals plain flour reduced to 39p (from a silly £1.50)

That's it I thought, but maybe just one last look at any "bargains"!!!!
The guy was just reducing them down and pretty early at only 7.30.

    Got:
    Lamb steaks from £4.00 to 99p = 99p
    2 x Macaroni cheese ready meals from £4.00 each to 99p each = £1.98
    1 x Quorn chicken pieces from £3.00 to 69p = 69p

Total only £4.45 and £16.50 worth of stuff plus the Bart spices!!!
    Total for day = £5.45

I probably bought because I initially was targeting this week £25+ of "whoopsies" for £10 max.
I abandoned the idea as I needed very little, but have passed that target anyway this week.

Freezers are full and I've had to use the ice box in the fridge to store stuff. I genuinely felt guilty and "naughty" tonight and it's NOT the food I need ......................... it's the challenge of getting bargains and the last two weeks have been so simple.
It has got to STOP as the food is building again and I'm possibly in my worst ever position now - it's pretty sad really and pathetic!!!!!!!!
I'm buying because it's reduced and as long as I think I'll use it eventually, I'll buy it!!!
No shopping now until Saturday, tomorrow and Friday will be NSD's and I'm hoping Maisie M's self-control will show me what can be done.

I've got to start meal-planning and using stuff and that starts from tomorrow.

Off to write my lines now...............

    I must not shop
    I must not shop
    I must not shop
    I must not shop
    etc, etc, etc.

    Take care.

We had roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sausage rolls, cauliflower, leek and swede for dinner.
Mr F has made an expedition in the garage freezer - got out a sultana scone, some bacon rashers and pork spare ribs. The bacon is for tomorrow's lunch - part baked roll with bacon in plus brown sauce - yum. Spare ribs for dinner.
