Lynsey I need to write those lines too!
i made the left over beef stir fry thingie for tea and it was very well. received! i made the sauce with a bit of hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, mirin, rice vinegar, plum sauce, chilli, water and conrflour (can't you tell i have too much in my cupboards!)
Don't know what to get out of the freezer for tomorrow - i fancy the lamb meatballs with some hm pittas and hm riatta type sauce.
I might go to Asda tomorrow with my list off the rtc thread! I went to one Asda the other day but they didn't have anything really, but there is another one in the other direction so might go there.Jane
ENDIS. Employed, no disposable income or savings!0 -
Well I need a bit of discipline, the freezer is once again full to the seams - there is no point me even looking at the bargains as I couldn't squeeze an ice cube in there at the moment. Today I have taken some steak out for tomorrows tea, BUT I made a curry last night and have replaced the steak with 3 curries!!! I usually freeze hm stuff in lock n lock boxes but not today - I had to freeze in bags as there literally wasn't the space - even the bags were a squeeze.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Morning.
Bright start, but sadly won't last!!!!
Toast and jam for breakfast, cottage pie with veg later and I might make some pizza dough to get rid of mozzarella.
Veggie day tomorrow, so another stir fry and might make a small batch of carrot and coriander soup. I might also make an apple pie today, keep myself busy and stay AWAY from the shops!!!!
I need to sort my head out and STOP buying stuff for the freezers and work around what I have for a good few week.
I find "bargain hunting" addictive though ..................... maybe I should start shopping for someone else?? Better just to stay away though!!
Jane - good luck with Asda, I found it pretty "hit and miss"!! A great pity that all the offers are not in all stores. The Asda thread does look amazing, but the reality is, the stuff is pretty hard to find and obviously getting worse as stuff has been grabbed. I've had a few things and a few things I wouldn't normally buy, but no longer looking apart form the oils - I'll keep an eye out.
Keeping pennies for Lidl NEXT weekend. lol

Morning all.
Had chicken pieces with nando's rub that I got from B&M for 10p, which was quite nice. Wouldn't pay the 80 odd pence it is in the supermarket tho!
Going to have lo turkish balls & lettuce for lunch, tea will be the pastry sheet topped with various things. Going to buy ham for it, cherry toms and mushroom. Feeling hungry writing that!
Also need to buy eggs, milk and toothpaste while I'm out. Fingers crossed I pick up some of the bargains in Asda.
AlwaysHappy - I feel your pain, struggling to open my freezer drawers here, as they're that jam packed. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Lynsey it sounds like you have an addiction LOL, it seems like It's hard for you to stop going to the shops, you, like I dunno maybe its a comfort to you, hope you sort your head out hun.
Been woken by the delivery guy, which I don't have to wait I. all day, but means I've o.ly had 4 hours sleep.
Last of sausage mix before I head out, took a ready meal out of the freezer for dinner as i have Zumba tonight, took lunch pitta out last night.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

ms_night_ryder - thanks.
I used to have "problems" with the GRABBIT forum a while back, but this year my attention has turned to bargain food and staying within budget. I've gone way OTT of late, possibly because I'm within planned budget and know I can still spend, maybe if I was struggling it would be easier??
I will sort my head out and NO buying food/groceries for 2 whole days - whoohoo.
Luckily, it's not costing much as most stuff is at least 75% reduced, but it's sad as I don't need the stuff.
Please hit me with sticks if I spend before Saturday.

Absolutely bucketing down here. Not looking forward to going to the shops. Might just go to the local newsagent instead of Asda.
A friend wants me to go to some party that a community centre is having, but don't fancy going in this rain, plus I'm waiting for ds to turn up. Also on Monday she turned up for the Jubilee celebrations in town at 4pm, about an hour before most of the kids stuff closed. I'd been there since half one and told her what time I'd be there after she asked for us to go together. She's always doing that. Another friend had a right go at her for making her wait hours at the park for her not so long back.
Lynsey, if you're saving, as well as buying things you want/need, then going on holiday with what you've saved, I don't see much wrong in that!
Flo meant to say the other day, welcome back, better late than never lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

The problem is though, I'm still "stashing" more than what I'm using and the "buzz" is getting the bargains, rather than actually using them.
I know what my budget is, I know I'm in control (even more so now, apart from obsession) and should really focus on coming in well under budget, rather than getting as much as possible within budget.
My "free holiday" is "almost in the bag", but got to reduce stuff, especially freezer stuff.
Just had a quick calculation of my coffee usage (I'm the main coffee drinker) and looks like approx. 600g for 2 months = 3.6kg per year. I've just opened my 1st packet from Morries (refill) and have 2.1kg left, so enough for the year really. I've also found out I could have been getting Nescafe for £2.00 for a 200g jar (from Nestle factory shop) and savings there next year.
Apple pie is in oven, apple and sultana actually as sultanas (Asda) have short date. Cottage pie going in shortly.
Weather still ok'ish (no rain), just a little dull ............. roll on summer!!
NSD so far.

Lynsey, I also used to be obsessed with grabbits LOL, but as soon as you find something new, you tend to forget about it, if your I. Budget there is nothing wrong, at least your not going into debt over whoopsies lol.
Change of plan to my meals, I got up early well was woken by delivery guy, so I left earlier to go and do my jobs, saw that there was a Pret near that needed doing, by that time i was hungry, so I took the job, got a sandwich, tea and mango slices, which will be reimbursed and I got paid to eat it. Sausage mix is still in there and i will have the tf chilli beef and rice with sour cream ready meal I defrosted.
Will attempt sausages tomorrow, I put 3 cooked sausages back in the freezer.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Throwing it down here. Trying to pack but can't get out to the caravan cos of the rain!
Dinner is spaghetti bolognaise - meat / veg sauce already made from freezer from a couple of weeks back. Wanted moussaka but couldn't find enough for us all. Got out three mini garlic baguettes to share around us too.
Made fruit bowl muffins from left over fruit I needed to use up and the kids had 7 out of the 18 for brekkie. Can't see them lasting long enough to need freezing! They described them as scrumptious and fabulous. I would say that is a positive result! My eight year old normally won't eat much fruit and he loved them! YAY!
Nothing going in freezer today and also NSD. Got to get a small chicken tomorrow to take on hols for Sunday lunch but not really planning to get much else.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
