Hello everyone - just came across this thread as I have only £10 left of my £350 budget with 3 weeks still to go!!! My freezers are oozing with food and my cupboards are not too bad either, so mind if I join in?

Quintwins - thanks for the tip on egg mayo as I have a Pampered Chef chopper and didn't think of using it for that - only use it for the onions.

I too have got the 3 month free trial for the tastecard, but have to say that I am disappointed in it as most of the restaurants do not take it at the weekend. So not sure whether it is worth it if you only really want to use it during that time? Do you use yours in the week, or is there a way around it so it can be used over the weekend?

Many thanks and look forward to using my food up before I do anymore shopping

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening

MunniMuncha - welcome and good luck with your budget.

Sofiaki - wishes for your Mum, my Brother had a similar issue with a "leak" and had major issues, hope your Mum recovers very quickly.

Completed a "Veggie Day", mainly by snacking and eating minestrone soup and cookies. lol

Went to Adsa to check out the reductions and small spend, got:

    4 x stir fry sauces at 20p each = 80p
    Strawberry conserve at 89p = 89p
    Double choc cookies at 30p = 30p
    Cucumber portion at 5p = 5p
    Total = £2.04

    Sainsbury's:

    Pack of teacakes at 29p = 29p
    Warburton crusty loaf at 19p = 19p
    Total = 48p

    Days total = £2.52

Loads of salmon again reduced at Sainsbury's and quite a few burgers and salad stuff, but declined anything for the freezers apart from the bread stuff.

Pasta meal tomorrow with a blue cheese sauce topped with fried lardons and the juice - lovely jubbly. Toasted teacakes for breakfast and minestrone to finish, so easy day.
Might have another wee look in Sainsbury's tomorrow night, but won't spend more than a couple of quid.
Doing Brother's shopping tomorrow and off to Morries, I've got a £5 voucher to use from the petrol points and might use it if anything nice, but also may wait for a decent offer.

Lip_Stick - thanks, the parcel serves many purpose and most of the stuff was pennies or free, even the washing liquid and capsules were bought using coupons via offers. They haven't got the time to look for bargains and use coupons, so will save them a bit and clears my "stash" a bit leaving space to top up. It's pointless having drawers full of toothpaste, cupboards full of laundry product etc just sitting there when they could be used - it was appreciated and they can waste their pennies on others things. lol

Watching the Queen's concert now that Cliffy has finished. :D
Thank God he was on early!!!

Quintwins I use a taste card too, got mine of eBay for a quid, can't see any about on there mine runs out in July, its very handy.

Did well in the using up, ate the fruit I prepared yesterday, had the muffin and 2 sausages and the blueberry muffin for lunch, then had the seabass put that in the steamer with some green beans and a corn on cob from freezer, also used 2 small nobs of garlic and herb butter in the fish also from freezer.

Don't know what brekkie tomorrow will be, I have some apples that need using and some black grapes left, lunch i will take out one of the huge pittas from freezer and have some sausages with cucumber and avacado and mayo, going to my grandmas tomorrow for dinner with my cousins, may get a Apple pie to take with me.

    Thanks Lynsey.

The cat tree I ordered last week during my mega-shop was ordered today. It took me about half an hour to assemble it and it's HUGE and heavy (I'd say at least 40kg). And guess what? The cat's now playing in - the packaging boxes ... Just like a kid. At least it's solid, the same colour as the cat (ginger/cream). Now abandoned the boxes and ignoring the tree and lying on a chair. I don't know why I bother lol.

Used up two chicken breasts and three peppers for dinner + for lunch tomorrow. Delish. Also some half price smoked salmon for starter :-)

~A tad drunk after meeting a mate and going into town to see the celebrations that's going on. Cooked up some pork which everyone munched despite it being for myself and ds' tea lol.

Got headache so off to bed to sleep it off

LipStick - Got to say I'm impressed that someone handed in your handbag. The last time I lost something in the UK (I forgot my camera in a pub loo), realised when I sat down, went to reclaim it, it had been nabbed - 3 minutes tops. I'm surprised I didn't get lynched the fuss I made in the pub, shouting out about the scum in that area (rough area of Brum where my nan lived). The fact that I had a local accent probably saved me tbh.

So reassuring that there are still honest people around.

I understand how you feel. One Christmas I left work after a leaving do and helped the boss load up her car. I ended up leaving my bag with all my wages, christmas pay, in the car park. It broke my heart when the few people at work gave me a lump sum to see me through.

Don't blame you for kicking up a stink, I would have too!

Afternoon all. Slight headache here but it's self-inflicted. :o Had to abandon the jubilee party at the soft play place today, and probably the bbq at mam's as ds was being sick this morning and had a temp. Shame as I was looking forward to today. Why can't he have been ill on a school day? lol

Just cooking broccoli and chicken crisp bakes. Ds says he's hungry but don't know whether to risk it.

Need bread as a friend's son finished the last of it last night. Also want some ham. Plan on making a tartlet thing with some jus-roll puffed pasty that goes out of date tomorrow. Have goats cheese and red pepper to go on it. Could put the pastry in the freezer, if I can get it to fit. Want to make brownies this week too.

Will have a go at freezing onions too, when I've the room. Got a mini chopper so will do a batch some time.

Sofiaki - I miss having my cat around. You're making me want another one, but probably not a good idea while I have the pet rats lol.

  • Hello everyone and welcome to the newcomers!!

I hope you have all enjoyed the Jubilee weekend. I have to say that I am a terrible cynic but even I have enjoyed watching the celebrations on TV - it is nice to see people having a good time for a change!

I got paid and so did a massive shop for stuff for the freezer, household stuff and food cupboards for the coming month. I was really careful and went around different shops for the best deals and spent about £250 but I do have enough of everything to last the month and probably beyond. Now I just have to make sure that I eat out of the freezer and cupboards and do not weaken and send for takeaways etc. I only bought "healthy" stuff as I am really worried about DD2 as she has put on a load of weight and will not stop eating - it's more than just big appetite - she is never out of the kitchen and as I don't have chocolate or treats she just eats bowls and bowls of cereal or toast or noodles. If I tell her to stop she gets really angry and agressive with me and refuses - or she goes out and buys stuff (she gets pocket money from her Dad). I was so worried I went with her to the doctors last week and she has said that she thinks she has polycystic ovaries so has referred us for a scan and blood tests. I know it sounds mad but I am worried that she will end up like that poor girl on TV who weighed some enormous amount.

Anyway - I did pot roast beef for lunch on Sunday and we have loads left over, so I am doing another roast dinner for tea tonight. I also pot roasted a chicken so that I have cold meat for the week for sandwiches and salads - I have never really pot roasted anything before but I have to say that it is a great way of cooking and the gravy you get is unbelievable!! I think I will have a go at making coronation chicken with some of the chicken tomorrow. I used to love it but haven't made it for yonks!

I haven't made any bread (because of DD2) and only have thin sliced wholemeal in as it's not as munchable.

What is a pampered chef chopper? I love gadgets and have some Amazon vouchers (about £40 - odd quid) which I made from their new Trade in service - I got £14 quid for an old Weight Watchers cookbook!!

Sofiaki - sorry to hear about your Mum - I hope that she goes on okay.

Off to start cooking the tea now!
