lysney hope your onions go well
They appeared to go very well and can't really understand why I haven't done it before as I normally freeze peppers for stir fry's??
Just under 4kg left. lol
Got bored so my minestrone is on now for tomorrow and we are having another "Veggie Day" to get one out of the way, probably cheese salad for one meal and one egg to get rid of, so one of us will have a egg sandwich tomorrow ................ and it won't be me.

Evenin all!
Hope everyone is enjoying thier jubillee weekend (its pouring down with rain here! :rotfl:)
Not much used today, cereal bar, leftover takeaways for our dinner (ooops!) need to buy some milk this week but hoping to avoid most other purchases!
Cooked a cake and some casserole over the weekend so freezer officially back full to the brim but the bonus is lots of instant defrostable dinners so shouldnt have to do any hard cooking can just oven/microwave for about 20 meals!!
Just watching superscrimpets to see if I can get any more good tips!0 -
Used the last of the lidl melon and blueberries with some reduced black grapes, have put it in the fridge for brekkie, have also seasoned a seabass and put the other in the freezer, will either steam or grill tomorrow, also grilled he 8 sausages I took out, will have them over the next few days.
I got a lot of ready meals and easy cook stuff as whoopsies, but freezer is now full again, i think I'm going to ask my friend to delay Costco for a few weeks, I have bought selected whoopsies only, like the simply cook chicken breasts and chilli con carne, chicken pasta, all non pork, as there seemed to be only pork in my freezer.
Just realised I didn't eat either muffins I took out, will eat them tomorrow.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Well day 1 completed and a cod loin, pack of raw prawns and 3 fish fingers used up. DH and I had thai prawncakes - yummm and DS1 had fish fingers, mash and carrots.
DS2 had salmon, broccolli and mash but I make his meals in bulk and freeze them in ice cube trays, so I won't count what I use up for him. I have a rolling programme of meals that I make just making them a bit chunkier each time I make them, and on the odd occassion when it is suitable he has the same as us.
Today I have taken out a shepherds pie filling. I make these in bulk in the slow cooker and freeze them in portions for the 3 of us then when I make it I just have to make the mash fresh. DS2 will be having his cubes of shepherds pie, made seperately with his baby stock cubes.
[STRIKE]tonight: us - thai fishcakes and salad kids: fish, homemade
wedges and carrots
[/STRIKE]
Monday: all - shepherds pie
Tuesday: all - roast ham, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese

Morning all
My kids do like pies but these were fancy spinage, chesse and chicken ones, i knew they'd turn there nose up and at £5 for 2 (ok so it was cheaper cause of the meal deal) i wasn't gonna risk that, they will only eat spinage in quiche they get that from there daddy. I acually havnet bought a pie in years, it's soooo much cheaper to make your own from leftovers and i got a lovely new pie dish for xmas, the one i was using was a cheapy metal one i got when i got married (nearly 6 years ago) and they none stick had came off and never acually worked anyway lol
Lynsey i have a pampered chef chopped it makes cutting up onions so quick ( and if you keep chopping they go nice and fine and are lovely for egg mayo) i think it was about £30 tho, i was at a party and had just had a baby so was splurging :P
OK so expensive weekend, i need to work out what i spent, reason for spending so much is hubby finally got a payrise from work of £20 a weekback on track now for the week.
Still need spuds and onions i'll have to get them today, changing the meal plan a wee bit cause i got a cast iron casarole dish for £20 and i'm dying to use it (wanted one forever) so chicken in creamy sauce with chips for tea, will use a packet of chicken breasts, the rest of a bag of mushrooms, and some peppers and a packet of philly from the fridge, there'll be some leftover for a pie next week.
Hubbys off tomorrow so i might have to have a dig threw and see what picnic style things i can find, i'm gonna make a beef casarole in the slowcoker for us when we get back so only need to sort lunch and snacks.
maisie its abt late but do you have a tastecard? or a highlife card? both offer bogof pizzahut, i got my tastecard free and my inlaws got there for £1.50 off ebay, theres no cheap ones about this year so i'm considering getting a half price one at £40 as it can be used at harry ramsdens and we def got our money worth several times over in fish and chips, the highlife card we got with £10 of tesco vouchers and we love it, i'm going to be getting another one soon (mines expired but i'm waiting for my inlaws to expire and get both at the same time) it can be used in lots of very upmarket places and we really like it. i don't have one so not sure but i think you can use the gourmet society in pizza hut aswell.DEC GC £463.67/£450

quintwins - thanks for that. No I don't have either but will look into them to see if there is enough restaurants near us to use it. We only go to Pizza Hut a couple of times a year. We used to go a lot more but then we started making our own pizzas on the stonebaked stones you get from Debs (bought with vouchers DH and I were given for xmas) and we much prefer them so haven't been in ages. Last year we had 7 adults and 12 children to Pizza Hut for DS1 birthday and they only charged for the 7 adults and 5 kids because children got a free meal with an adult. Kind of hoping its the same this year as only 2 adults and 4 kids this time round lol.0

Morning all
Had my veg biriyani last night which was quite nice. Also brought out some pork with an apple and something stuffing for tea. Supposed to be going into town with a friend for the jubilee celebrations but unsure whether to venture out as one min it's nice sunshine and the next it's bucketing it down.
Lynsey - sending that parcel is kind, bet they look forward to the bits and pieces. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Morning all. Hello the newbies.
Thanks for the good wishes for my mom. The poor thing had to have a second operation because there was a "leak" from the first one. She spent a night in intensive care and is still on a morphine pump. Major surgery is bad enough, but at 78 it's even worse.
I've been really off track this week with food. Loads of good stuff in the fridge/freezer and I couldn't be bothered. One day I just boiled potatoes and ate with some butter, salt and pepper. Turns out they were "off" and gave me a massive headache and nausea, to the extent I went straight to bed. Over that now and back on proper eating track. Planning on chicken breast, green beans and some potato balls from the freezer for lunch or dinner. I still have a brick of soup lurking somewhere, so will have that for the other meal.
A delivery man from the organic shop that I had to stop because too costly for delivery for one contacted me this weekend and said he'd set up his own business and would I be interested. Free delivery until the end of the year. And only €4 thereafter. So now I can get a weekly basket of fresh organic veg and fruit. No excuse for eating badly from now on. With my organic meat distributors with free delivery, I'm sorted.
I might make the ciabatta mix that's been looking at me for the past few months. The first one I made was gorgeous. Morrisons own, cheapo from AF.
Now got to reduce cupboard supplies. Might make some quinoa and make a smoked salmon (half price) and quinoa salad. Yum. That'll do for a couple of days too. Also got to get rid of instant couscous and spelt, neither of which I really enjoyed. Any ideas for jazzing them up?
I hope everyone's enjoying the Jubilee celebrations/holiday. Not even worth a mention here. Ah well, I've been catching up via internet. Wish I could feel some of the atmosphere that appears to be around. I'm getting accounts from friends of various celebrations. I remember the street party of 1977. I must dig out some of those photos.
Have a good day all. xxx0 -
LipStick - Got to say I'm impressed that someone handed in your handbag. The last time I lost something in the UK (I forgot my camera in a pub loo), realised when I sat down, went to reclaim it, it had been nabbed - 3 minutes tops. I'm surprised I didn't get lynched the fuss I made in the pub, shouting out about the scum in that area (rough area of Brum where my nan lived). The fact that I had a local accent probably saved me tbh.
So reassuring that there are still honest people around.0 -
