    ooh no abitofhelp not good...:(

    my hubby broke one of our drawer fronts approximately a week after we had it brand new - cost £450 :eek: and boy was I mad... he was way too heavy handed with it. Bet you didn't do it like that though.

    Afternoon all.

    Haven't done very well today with the house work, ended up falling asleep and didn't want to get up lol. Bet I don't sleep tonight now.

    Had my garlic prawns and rocket salad for lunch so a bit stuck now with what to do for tea.

    Thanks for the tips re coupons lynsey, printed a couple out of each. Ds loved the squirty cream last time I bought it. Think he was pinching it as it went down rapidly! You've done well at the shops too.

    Flo - I will do, if it still feels bad by next week.

    katskorner - sounds like you'll have a lovely time... slightly jealous! And £450.... for just a drawer front????????? Christ, that'd buy me a new washer lol.
    There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    Thanks for the heads up about coupons, do you just find them on the web?

    We had two shops today - beer run and party food so thats basically the monthly food budget gone until the end of June. Luckily the cupboards and freezer are still well stocked so we won't have too much trouble I hope.

    Tonight's dinner: Christmas Dinner. That's the last of the Christmas leftovers gone now :D apart from some broccoli and cauliflower.

    The freezer feels wonderfully manageable and I can actually find things again! It is brilliant!

    Have some donuts and cakes to put out for party in mid-June so that'll save a few more pennies.

    Also picked up a cake for DH's b'day - a £1.50 whoopsie so that's in the freezer, saving about £8 :D

    May be able to stretch the grocery budget, depends how much petrol we use this month (the "fund" comprises both things). We did stock up on lunch items so we should be ok. I'm envisaging needing to spend around £10 per week and sticking to it (maximum).

    Might have to get inventive with pasta salads etc. to bulk out lunches to reduce bread consumption, we do go through an awful lot of bread!

    Everything I've touched today has turned to GOLD, definitely the MIDAS touch and I love days like today. Had a fantastic afternoon and I'll update later once I've had a coffee with my 10p cakes. lol

    ammonite - have a look at the "Coupon Thread" HERE

    Please, please don't miss the Facebook McVities and Anchor cream though - be quick (if you haven't already missed it!!).

    Hey guys
    Thanks for all your support and kind words regarding my redundancy, got confirmation it is definately happening, will be paid for 7 weeks and 7 weeks redundancy money, I'm really pleased.

    Lynsey, will be joining couponing again as soon as I get a pc unit, hopefully next week, i have printer and screen, now is the time for me to be frugal, as i will be self employed and dont want to waste my redundancy money.

    Back on topic, ate out for lunch well not really, just got 2 pieces of chicken and 4 jacs, massive potato wedges basically, it didn't seem to suit me as I had a bellyache after, had dinner, which was the last of the chilli, with one of the massive wholemeal pittas I got on Monday, toasted it, cut it into strips and dumped the chilli on top, it was delicious.

    Need to take something out for dinner, prob in sc. As i have a fair few jobs to get through and as its payday I'm due a Pedicure, lol.

    Really need to make space, as I'm heading to Costco with my friend, going to go with a list and bulk buy tin toms, bleach etc, i don't want to run out if anything for the rest of the year, I already have enough toilet roll about 40 rolls, I use one a week, I have enough washing up liquid, i bulk bought on the persil deal, so have 6 bottles of persil and a box of tablets, 4 1.5 comforts a bottle of pure and a lenor, I only have 4 bottles of bleach left, I have 20 bottles of original source all from the glitch and a few of radox, all along I have been thinking about this redundancy and i feel semi prepared, over the bank holiday im going to clear my desk area, so I can get used to working from home and finally get a pc.

    ms_night_ryder - well done and enjoy. My hubby would love to be made redundant - he asks every week. lol

    Couponing day part 2

    Started in Asda as wanted the cream and got it

    2 x Anchor cream 50p each - used 2 x 50p coupons so free
    2 x Anchor light squirty cream £1.00 each - used 2 x 50p coupons = £1.00
    5 x easy melt dark chocolate 12p each = 60p
    1 x chilli olive oil = £1.50
    1 x batch loaf = 50p
    2 x Elvive conditioners (250ml) reduced to £1 each = £2
    used 2 x £1.50 coupons for the conditioner and got £1 off rest of shopping (went through s/scan till).
    Total spend = £2.60

    Next had to pick up some fizzy mango pop for Brother from B&M's so picked up another 2 Hellmanns mayo at 29p each
    Total = 58p

    Popped into Lidl to see what weekend meat offer is (quarter pounders) and looked at the swede and lo and behold they were on offer at only 29p each!! Bought 2.
    Total = 58p

    Thought that was it, but thought I'd check Sainsbury's on the way home, even though early for "whoopsies" - they were reducing and got

    3 chicken breast fillets from £4.45 for 99p = 99p
    2 x TTD ciabattas from £1 each to 10p each = 20p
    pack of 12 mini muffins from £1.49 to 10p = 10p
    pack key lime pies from £2.40 to 10p = 10p
    McVities jaffa cake bars £1.00 - used coupon so free
    Total = £1.39

    Afternoons total = £5.15 and £2.68 spent earlier so
    Days total = £7.83 and got loads and loads - very happy bunny.

    Keeping away from shops now apart from Waitrose tomorrow to get Vitalite and keep rest of coupons for next week, or perhaps Saturday, but want to desperately stay under £25 for the week. The problem using coupons in different shops means you have to spend a little in each one .......................... doesn't help measly budget ..................... but very grateful.

    That's my day, sorry that's it a bit long-winded, but shows what can be done and hope it gives confidence to others to try couponing (coupons are only another method of paying) - hit them hard and save your pennies.

    Time for dinner, take care.
