Evening all. Thanks for the birthday wishes for ds. The party went well, we had the place to ourselves. People pay £100 for that normally lol. Ds had a great time and has dropped off on the living room floor. I'll put him to bed once I've had my tea.

Tea is lentil and bacon stew, wasn't sure what it was though when I got it out of the freezer, thought it was chili.

Not got a clue about meals tomorrow, might do savoury mince from the freezer with mash and veg.

Thanks for the info Jane, but sounds like I'd make a right pig's ear of um lol.

ammonite - I've made slow cooked chili so reckon spag bol should be ok. The chilli came out absolutely gorgeous, lot more tasty than normal, just be careful of the liquid and putting in too much.

Thanks - are these round rolls not the traditional long iced finger shape.

No these are traditional round rolls - he hasn't shown me how to do the finger rolls yet.

For the sweet rolls you make the dough with 1tsp yeast, 450g flour, 3tbs sugar, half tsp salt, 75g butter or marg and 310 ml water. Again just cook on the dough programme.

Mr F has a night off from freezer duties - we don't need anything out + nothing to go in. :D
We had roast potatoes, roast parsnips, pork spare ribs, gravy, roasted vegetables - cauliflower, mushroom, onion, red pepper & tomatoes for dinner.

    Hey all.

Spent the morning in the hospital with my grandma, so had porridge, bought hot from the shop had that, for lunch a packet of crisps I did buy a bit of watermelon a d some huge pittas from the continental shop, cost me £1.77 lost track of my budget this month roughly at £70 now, for really no reason at all. Had chilli and rice.from yesterday in the slow cooker.

Tomorrow.will have some watermelon and chilli anr a pitta for.lunch.

The ow cooker make chilli nice and rich, but I agree watch out for how much liquid you put in, had to put mine on high to get rid of some.

    Morning.

ms_night_ryder - hope your Grandma is OK.

Bit of a dull day here and looks like some drizzle during the night.
Toasted hot cross bun loaf to finish for breakfast and cheese and ham omelette later with salad, hubby's having bacon sandwich and ham salad pittas.
Cooking some more scones later and spend the day waiting for UPS to collect parcel. No planned shopping and will be a NSD unless Sainsbury's have something fantastic which HAS to be bought.

Hope your weather is better than mine!!!!

  • Thank you florenceem and others for locating recipie for syrup cake!! I shall report back with how it goes! ;)

Ate out last night so have saved the chilli we had defrosted for tonite (will possibly stretch to one lunch tomorrow as well!!) then might do something easy like fajitas for the next couple of days - too hot to bother cooking much!! If it cools down a bit at the weekend I might have a go at baking, bread and muffins... and syrup cake of course! :)

    Have a good day all

Morning all. Looks like today I'll be tidying up the mess that is ds' new toys. Need to clean out the rats too.

No idea what I'll be doing for meals. Have an opened fridge pack of spaghetti hoops that needs using up. Annoyed with myself as I left salad leaves and wraps at mam's the other day. Need to get some bread at some point. Also need to get some aloe stuff for my swollen leg. No idea where to get that.

ms_night_ryder - hope your gran is ok.

Morning all - well, last night I froze a lemon cake (in slices) and really struggled to get it in there. At that point I don't think I could have fit a piece of paper in!! So, today I have taken out some chicken thighs for tomorrows tea and now need to buckle on down and make some space.

Did someone just say they put rice in there slowcooker? how would i go about that? for some reason thats never crossed my mind lol.

Stuck to my meal plan yesterday :)
went shopping and spent £15.01, £6 of which was shoes and shorts for ds3, only thing bought off list was a banana in the f&v shop, a lolly in the thorntons clearance shop, and some juice in poundland cause i thought i was gonna die, still need a bag of spuds but as we havnet been eating many i'm gonna wait til i acually need them and only get a 10kg bag.
Had chicken pie, caggabe and a tiny bit of mash for tea so i took out lo chicken casarole, and used the last of the cabbage.
Made banana muffins and bread using a few manky bananas, they are very nice, i just had some bananas bread with butter and jam for breakfast.

Todays plan is pasta, so i need to make up some pasta sauce, gonna be taking onions, peppers and mushrooms out of the freezer, and using lots of tom from the fridge, will prob be putting some pasta sauce back in tho, not sure about lunch maybe cheese sandwichs.

Gonna blanch some parsnips and freeze them, i'll also be making yogurt in my slowcooker tonight, i'll see what else is in my fridge thats needs using and see what i can do, i think i have some kiwi on the turn so might make a compote .

Awww thanks guys, grandmas fine, she had to have a mri scan as her walking is becoming really dodgy, but she was cacking it as she doesnt like enclosed spaces.

Quintwins, how do you make yogurt in sc? I have one, I like yogurt, lol can I have the recipe? Or link.

Just had some watermelon for brekkie, I'm going to Costco with a friend next week, so i really do need to get more space in the freezer, took out a muffin will have it toasted with some chilli on top for lunch, then I will be off out to do some jobs, then i have kickboxing later on, will take something out later to be cooked tomorrow, New food budget starts Thursday, but as I'm going costco i will be buying very little between now and then.

Bit nervous as I have my final redundancy consultation tomorrow, so I will know for sure what is happening, then I can get on with life and start planning.
