  • Quintwins - no I don't have a slowcooker - I keep meaning to get one but never get round to it! On the subject of your oranges, it reminded me of what my Mum used to give us for afters when we were growing up. She used to peel the oranges to get the white pith off and then chop them and put sugar and evap on them and we loved it! We called it orangensugar pudding and we had it at least once a week. I still love it now, but I use splenda instead of the sugar (although it's much nicer with sugar - lots of it!)

Need to go to bed but have been messing about on the my supermarket website to try and work out a shopping list for June that won't break the bank!

    Morning.

Toasted hot cross bun loaf for breakfast and turkey stir fry later, not sure what else yet and possibly a salad.

No shopping planned, but may sneak a look later and ONLY buy IF heavily reduced. Thinking of making scones later and more gardening when the sun comes out - a bit hazy this morning!!

Morning all....burnt myself to a crisp at Brid, not happy with myself! Found it awkward to sleep so today as well as the pain of being burnt on arms and legs, my arms and shoulders are aching really bad. Did have a good day tho lol.

Picked up some whoopsied muffins and marmalade at morrisons yesterday while getting dinner.

Ds is with his dad and his nanna opening some presents early. I'll be going to the folks and having chicken and salad I think. Need to pick a cake up for ds to take into school tomorrow. Hoping to get a whoopsied one lol.

Hope all have a lovely day in the sun. x
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Sorry you got burnt Lip_stick - hope it calms down today.

I have got to motivate myself to make curry with the meat I defrosted yesterday but I think I will make it and then freeze it because none of us fancy it.

Just made a big tuna and cannellini bean salad for lunch - it was really nice but there is loads left over as the kids aren't keen and made themselves bacon sandwiches afterwards as they said they were still hungry. I give up!!

Don't know what to make for evening meal. DD1 is going for a colonoscopy on Tuesday so can't have anything to eat after tonight so she wants something nice - which as a rule means junk so I will have to have a good think.

Might go to Aldi later to have a look at what the supersix are.

Am planning on making a pseudo moussaka later, beef mince from freezer instead of lamb, UHT milk and cheddar to make the sauce and baby aubergines from fridge, and I have some lettuce and tomatoes in the fridge that I bought 10 days ago but are still ok- will definitely be fine with my homemade French dressing. Not planning on doing any major shopping until Thursday but might go and get myself some bargain vitalite today :D xx

"And I love to live so pleasantly
    Live this life of luxury
    Lazing on a sunny afternoon
In the summertime, in the summertime
    In the summertime"

Ain't life good when the sun shines. lol

Easy to get burnt Lip_Stick, we don't get enough sun in the UK and easy to underestimate the rays. Hope you are not too sore and get a high factor on next time .................... if there is going to be a next time. lol

NSD - had a wee look, but only reduced by 50%, so no way Jose!!!

Made the scones and they were lovely, used some double cream in the mixture and a quirt of lemon juice. Just had some with jam and whipped cream and a coffee ................. it's a hard life at times. :D

Birds going crazy in the bird bath, looks like they are having more fun than myself!!

Stir fry later and "Veggie" day tomorrow.
Got free tickets for the "Dogs" again and will get a free supper and drink on Thursday and a visit to an Asda which give bread away for free - hope I'm lucky again.

    Enjoy.

Too tired - no exhausted by DGC to post last night.
Mr F went on a freezer expedition - took out - bag of spare ribs, piece of JJ's herby cheese bread and a slice of syrup cake. He had to fit in two open tubs of rhubarb - I will bag them when frozen.
We had roast potatoes, roast parsnips, gammon in Yorkshire, gravy, carrot, cauliflower and onion for dinner.

    Hi all,

Just spent a "while" catching up with posts.

Glad to hear everyone's enjoying the nice weather. It's been unbearable here; not a good time to be living in a flat or in a city. Nice to have so much light though.

I had a mega food delivery yesterday consisting mainly of 36 bottles of Vittel water, 12 bottles of fizzy water, 48 bottles of 33 beer, two 3l boxes wine, 10 packets of Bayonne ham, 2 packets of boiled ham, 10 packages of garlicky olives, 2 lots of Caprice des Dieux cheese, 2 philly type cheese, 4 x 4 Greek yoghurts, 4 x 3 little tins of corn, 2 x 2 smoked salmon, 2 x green tea bags, 2 x bags of watercress - all at BOGOF or half price (VERY unusual for here, plus my normal shopping. I wish I could say the prices were anywhere near your bargains, but unfortunately they're just "good for here".

I'm now wishing I'd got more of the wine. I tasted some of the red last night and it wasn't half bad. Bargain at 5€90 for 3l ... Perhaps I'll do another order next week solely on half price stuff, once I've managed to get the ros! into the fridge and tasted it ... Otherwise the fridge is stuffed, the cupboards are stuffed, freezer drawers are stuffed with my organic meat order from last week and some veg. And I'm sitting here wondering what to have for tea ...

Slightly off subject, but does anyone have tips for keeping geraniums? The lady downstairs gave me some, and even planted them for me, but the bottom leaves are going yellow, even though the tops look healthy and are flowering. (Could be the sudden change in temperature I suppose.) I've never managed to keep a flowering plant yet. My leafy ones all thrive.

I love reading the tips on here even though I don't post very often.

Stuff the tea, get stuck into that cheap wine. lol

Geraniums?? I love geraniums and have quite a few - my guess would be over-watering - they like to dry out between watering.

Great that you are getting some bargains - my great ones are generally "whoopsies" and Lidl half-price weekends.
