What are 'whoopsies'?
Made me laugh anyway,
Hello Midnight Shopper, whoopsies would be yellow sticker items. this is where a supermarket reduces items for a quick sale. The first reduction is normally by 10 - 30p off the 2nd & 3rd reductions is where you gain the real value. My best ever bargain was last year in tesco where they had 400g blocks of chedder reduced to 35p per block. The 10 blocks i bought were fine in my freezer.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404
18th May- 15th June 2012 £100/£75

Midnight Shopper - welcome to the thread.
"Whoopsies"?? Reduced items, usually on sell by/use by date - ys (yellow stickers) = same thing. I believe Asda started using the word "Whoops" on the yellow reduced stickers??
optimistic - the next 5 weeks will virtually all be "bargain hunting" and using coupons - pretty much in control and just ticking over and grabbing stuff at approx 70% off.
Been busy today and spent £12.14 so far.
Lidl - 6 packs of half-price bacon and a pack of frozen peas = £4.83.
Aldi - pack of tomatos, spring onions, mozzarella and caster sugar = £2.31.
Asda - Kellys ice cream, choc lollies, mixed peppers and 2 hot cross bun loaves = £5.00.
Not a "whoopsie" bought so far, but quite a few decent offers and well stocked up and basics needed for next week.
Drinks on ice for Old Humperdinck tonight. lol
Spent a bit in B&Q on plants and gardening day again.
Catch up later.

Welcome Midnightshopper!
Well my freezer is in need of replenishing that's for sure! I have managed to eat almost exclusively out of it and the cupboards for the last two weeks and am down to a pork fillet (for tomorrow's lunch), pack of fish fingers, pack of fish in butter sauce, pack of mince, some ys bread, peas, cauliflower florets and a pack of lambs liver.
Cupboards are a bit better but I need to get them restocked too.
I made pizza last night using the Jamie Oliver recipe (thanks Florenceem!) and it was absolutely lovely. I made the dough in the breadmaker. The recipe made two large pizzas and we all enjoyed one last night and the other one will be used up today for lunch, as DD2 has friends coming round and DD1 took a big hunk of it for carry out. Will definitely be making that again!
Today we are having:
Breakfast (just coffee)
Lunch l/o pizza and salad
Dinner hm beef curry (just got the last of the stewing beef out the freezer) with ys naans (freezer) and rice.
I still haven't had my fee cheque and yesterday I got my new tax credits award letter and they reckon I was overpaid £1124 last year!!! I am self employed so always expect a bit of an overpayment in the end of year calculations but not that much!! the thing I am most annoyed about is that they are taking it back from June and July's credits so I won't get anything until August!! I rang and asked if they could take it £100 a month and they are "considering my request" which means I don't know if I will get any money on 4 June or not!! I feel sick with worry about it all.
I have about £20 to last me until my fees arrive (which I HOPE will be Monday) and I am deliberating whether or not to go to Lidl in the morning to get some of the bacon, as it is such a bargain. I also need milk and wanted to go to Morries for the Cravendale but can't justify the petrol (Morries is 10 miles away) which is a shame as we love Cravendale!
Weather here today is really hot, but I can't muster any energy to do anything like gardening or housework - I am too depressed/worried about my tax credits and just want to crawl back to bed, but that isn't possible, nor justifyable - I need to pull myself together!!!!
Maybe I will take the dogs out and see if that blows away the cobwebs!
Hope you are all in a better mood than me and enjoying the sunshine!!Jane

Jane - is Sainsbury's nearer??
50p off coupon in Sainsbury's free mag (page 6) which is off 1 litre, so virtually the same price when using 2 coupons via 2 x 1 litres.
Hope you find a workable solution to your finances - good luck.
I need to visit Sainsbury's tonight to put lotto on and see what bargains they have - giving Morries a miss again this week.
Sitting in garden with laptop, listening to music and soaking up the rays. lol
Enjoy the sun - Bank Holiday next weekend - brollies back out.

Well I've cleared the mass of marking I had last weekend and am back in the world again.:D
We have had a very spendy day today but most of it was justified (sort of) so I'm not worried about it.
Got a few bits in B&M, couscous, crackers and organic dried apricots for 39p a packet. We spent £3.39 in all. Then we had £19 on the market for fruit and veg but we had loads and a lot of luxury type things in the basket, cherries, apricots, a watermelon and two punnets of English strawbs.
Mr T has sent me three £10 of a £30 spend coupons for some reason, desperate attempt to get my money I guess:cool: Went there and bought 10 boxes of Whiskas on special at £3 a box and two packets of mexican wedges as i had vouchers for these, so £20.80 spent. I got a £5 of £40 voucher at the till but I'll give that to my neighbour as we won't use it.
Spent £58 at sainsbugs but £34 of this was essential perisable consumables otherwise known as wine and cider :rotfl:We bought Sheba and cat litre to make it up for the petrol voucher and we need to leave loads as we're off to Hastings for half term week with the PIL.
The only other things we bought were milk, muesli and some yoghurt, I really don't need anything else:oI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Popped into Sainsbury's to put lotto on and get some mags (got 4) and spent another £5.14.
3 x neck lamb fillets 99p from £3.00 each = £2.97
Belly pork joint £1.49 from £3.36 = £1.49
Small tub double cream 29p from 58p = 29p
Sweet pototoes 39p from £1.50
Cream not a great bargain, but rest ok'ish.
Loads getting reduced, some bargains later, but enough for me this week and 2nd highest spend of the year at £29.42 and only got back home on Wednesday afternoon!!!
Still on target for £600 by the end of June (just) and being frugal for the next 5 weeks should get me there.
Still need potatoes and swede, but waiting for right price - see what Aldi have next for the Super 6.
Eurovision on now - see you later. lol

didn't make curry as it was too hot out, so I made another Pizza to have for tea with jacket potatoes and tuna - made enough for us three and three DD's friends!
Steak is defrosted so will have to make curry tomorrow, no matter how hot it is.
i bought some of the Sainsburys basics 27p tea bags the other day - they aren't bad either. i still prefer PG tips but they are okay to have as emergency supply for times like now when I have run out!!Jane

Hi all, it was so hot (and they'd been driving me mental it's hard to entertain kids in the heat) that we took the kids for a nice long drive then stopped for tea last night, it was acually really expensive even tho 2 of the kids got free meals, but they had a soft play area which is free so we tayed for ages, was 11 before we got the kids to bed, they we're still up at 8 this morning tho and not in good form
, had free tickets to a counttry fair today, was a nice morning bought some kiwi jam, i tasted abit and it was yummy, i susspect it will end up on ice cream rather than toast, got some strawberry and blackcurrant aswell, and a punnet of strawberrys and a punnet of cherrys.
Dinner was pizza, garlic bread and sausage rolls all from the freezer, running low on bread, could do with a whoopsie shop but i have no room to store it so i'll stick with lidl's 65p loaf, as soon as i acually make a proper dinner i'll throw a few loaves in the oven, and maybe a cheey herb bread
.
no more spending here after our expensive few days, i must stick to my meal plan no matter what, tomorrow might i'm gonna cook up all the veg in the fridge (it's looking really sad) and store it in tubaware ready to go with dinners the next few nights, heading to the inlaws for a BBQ tomorrow, i'll be bring the rest of the free bbq meat from my fridge which will clear some space, it's abit hectic in there right now.
Still need an idea of what to make with fresh oranges, i'm really coming up a blank and there starting to turn and i still have 2 bags left.
Plan for this week,
Clean out the fridge.
Cook up all veg in fridge.
Find a use for all those oranges.
Cook up a homemade pasta sauce with all the tomatoes.
Stick to meal plan- no eating out.
Buy spuds, eggs, philly, milk, bread, value marge for pastry/bread and nothing else.
RS- do you have a slowcooker? bung it all in there and walk off, even if you don't eat it atleast that will be it made to keep for a few more days.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Ready for votes in Eurovision soon!!
Fingers crossed for the Russian Grannies.
Serbia could do well.
