Looks like the rain has just arrived!!!
Could be in for a right downpour looking at the sky!!!
Only 99p spend on food budget today and spent another £2 using Fabreeze coupons in Tesco (2 x aerosols for £4 minus 2 x £1 coupons).
99p spent on Natco whole black pepper - reduced to only 99p for a 300g bag - should last for a while and now stocked up on both salt and pepper.
Never went to Sainsbury's, but may have to pop out in an hour, so we'll see.

Evening all.
Decided to have chili and chips from the freezer tonight for tea, since ds was with his dad. Took some steak and kidney out of the freezer to make a pie tomorrow. Will put the meat in the slow cooker then make the pie when I come home in the evening. Also hoping to make a rhubarb crumble tomorrow if I have time. Need to buy custard, can't have a crumble without that!
Lynsey - good find with the peppercorns. Enjoy your free brekkie?
AlwaysHappy - I didn't read the bit where it was a soup mix you bought, hence why I suggested making a mash... duhhhh. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. We had HM cheese/ham quiche, roast potatoes and roasted vegetables - beetroot, onions and red cabbage for dinner.
Now we have to find room for two days portions of quiche!
A pack of salmon trimmings is coming out and a muffin.
Dinner tomorrow is gammon steaks - they are in the fridge.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

dasophster wrote: »Soup mix technically doesn't need soaking; its not going to poison you if you don't (although the usual advice to rapid boil for 10 minutes still applies). However it will take much, much longer to cook, up to 3 or 4 hours. If you soak it, it will take an hour or so. You can use the quick soak method, put the soup mix in a pan with plenty of water, boil rapidly for 10 minutes (some versions of the method say 2 minutes) then leave to soak covered for 2 hours. xx
Would you think that it would cook okay in a slow cooker then if I were to rapid boil for ten and then transfer?
I've a ham bone that would go in nice with it and thought it would lend itself to that style of cooking.
Rain not giving up. Still hammering it down. Could do with making some homely soup for tomorrow if this keeps up!AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Lip_Stick - there was quite a bit reduced along with the pepper, garam masala, coriander seeds etc., some great bargains and worth a look in your local Tesco's - it may not be store specific. Brekkie at Ikea is always a bargain.
Still only drizzle here, seems to be holding off.
Spent in Sainsbury's tonight.
But all bargains and no more shopping until Saturday.
3 x packs of TTD salmon fillets 62p each from £4.89 each = £1.86
Haddock skinless fillets 64p from £5.25 = 64p
Kingsmill 50/50 loaf 24p from £1.05 = 24p
Pack of apple crumbles 22p from £1.75 = 22p
4 x Vitalite £1.20 each (2 for £1.80) and used 4 x 30p coupons = £2.40
Total spend = £5.36 plus 99p earlier = days spend £6.35 and loads for it .................. also loads NOT needed. lol
Froze all the fish and froze 4 x packs of bread in 4 slice packs.
Apple crumbles for tomorrow, having sausages in onion gravy with mash, peas and sweetcorn and the Yorkshire puddings I made tonight (worked well for once!!!!).
Vitalite shelf was low in stock ................ are the coupons catching on??
Off to bed soon, I'm tired today - up far too early this morning.

Morning all... lovely sunshine here... Lynsey.
Supposed to be getting to around 16 degrees later I think, so will pop to park with ds after school. Measured him this morn, and it looks like he's grown an inch since we went to Disney.
Anyone know how long it'll take to cook a pie in the oven if the meat is already cooked? Basically putting it in the oven to cook the pie crust.
College today... yawn. Not much that I need today so hopefully I won't spend much. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. Hi all it's very wet here today and we're all feeling under the weather
Yesterday didn't go to plan ds wasnt feeling great when we got to the soft play area you get a discount lunch if you go before 11 during the week so i got him that in the hopes he would eat it, he didn;t then he asked for a slush puppy which he only drank abit of, dinner was £2.25 and his drink was £1.10, plus i had a hot chocolate at £2.10.
Then i spent all afternoon trying to sort my old house and him at the same time, so dinner didn't go to plan we had chicken and chips instead, atleast it was homemade and not bough i suppose.
Have loads of unpacking and cleaning to do today aswell as not feeling great so i'm just gonna plan a quick tea, tatie waffles, sausages and beans i think. breakfast was paoched egg on toast and lunch is yet to be decided.DEC GC £463.67/£450
