    Morning.

AlwaysHappy - well done on the spaces and thanks for the meatballs reminder. Haven't done a meatball pasta bake for a while as miss the Lidl half-price meatballs. Got some Aldi ones, so will do that soon.

Porridge today as it seems another grey, cold, dull day!!
Some salad to finish, might have with baked potatoes for lunch and the pies tonight.
Baking some more bread later also, same recipe apart from upping the oats to 50g (400g flour).
Need to find a cheap filling for the vol au vent cases - 2 boxes taking up space as is the apple crumble box.
At least more going out of late than going in.

    Veggie day tomorrow.
Need carrots and eggs, might try and wait until Saturday. Sainsbury's tonight, just to look.......... and hope.

    Keep warm.

    Morning all!

Am really please at how the contents of my freezer are shrinking (cupboards looking sparser too), friends coming over at the weekend so that should make another great big dent. On track to defrost during the next BH weekend, and start buying food from the supermarket again on the 8th. 18 days before that happens!

£2 is a fantastic bargain for 1L of olive oil, how am I going to resist? I will be making a trip to Iceland though, apparemtly they are selling Daz liquid 20 washes for £2.

Hope is not a strategy :D...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

    Morning all

First day of my teacher's assistant course today. It's only a couple of hours so not too bad. Will have an early lunch and make a frittata with potato, peppers and a little chicken I think.

It's a friend's birthday Monday so will be going to her house after the course as it's nearby, to drop her card and pressie off. Ds is being picked up by my dad and will be having tea with the folks. Not sure if he's staying over or not yet. Will try to pop into Asda on the way home, see if I can get any decent whoopsies.

No idea what I'm having for tea, maybe chicken wraps.

Got a shed load of ironing to do before I go... yawn.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

VfM4meplse - great olive oil bargain, might look later but got plenty and don't want to spend much this week and next - not being frugal though for terrific bargains just for the hell of it, that would be another "investment". lol

Lip_Stick - good luck with your course, hope it leads on to better and greater things.

Disaster again with the bread-making - done my "Party Trick" and forgot to put the ****ing paddle in again.
Remembered within 30 seconds and had to poke about to place it, hoping it hasn't ruined anything remembering so early, we'll see.
Could be another feast day for the birds. lol
Tweaked the recipe a bit, more milk (70ml) and the 50g oats, wanted to see the difference - always next time.............. if I remember the paddle!!!!

  • If you're looking for the olive oil its in the 'kosher' section which is sometimes near world foods but not always and I think it does depend a bit on each sainsbugs. They had several other bargains but nothing I needed as I've still got Matzos meal (great instead of breadcrumbs) and matzos crackers from last year.:)
The oil was a different brand 'Gefen' but its spanish imported via the states though. They also had cheap coke, gherkins and choclate.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

    Hi everyone,

Haven't posted for ages, been hectic here and very sadly my FIL died on Easter Sunday. Been trying to read though.

Having some success at using up some of my stores. Although freezer space tends to be filled as soon as a space appears... Had some good bargains though, so can't complain! I have the contents of the cupboards written down, just need to put them on the spreadsheet.

Been making my own tomato and marscapone pasta sauce which actually isn't bad, and much cheaper than buying pots of it from Morrisons, esp when I get the cheese reduced. ;) Oh and the baby likes it, so even better!

Will try to get posting a bit more often again.

Strange day, doing a bit DIY for Brother and took ages, so missed a meal or two today.
Popped into Sainsbury's and too early for the good stuff, lovely pizzas only reduced to just under £2, so had to leave them (99p's my limit).
Did get bits though and the highlight was a large apple and sultana lattice pie for 10p!!!!! Also got a 300ml tub of single cream to go with pie for 29p (not great) and a bag of Desiree potatoes for 49p - total 88p.
Bought a bag of chips for £1.30, so days total was £2.18.
Possible NSD tomorrow, unless Sainsbury's have something both nice and cheap and happy with what's left of budget for Saturday - should stay under £20 for the week now.

GarnetLady - sorry about the sad loss. Nice to see you posting, take care and hope your hubby is OK.

Anyone see the freezer glitch on ebay?? Comet had massive freezers on "Buy Now" for only £109. lol
Never bought one, though was tempted to get just one. They'll surely get cancelled, but missed a bargain if they don't.

BTW, 1st lot of bread didn't rise very well in the bread-maker, but rose ok when kneaded and tasted ok. Baked a 2nd lot and great results.
The birds got half of the 1st batch, warm fresh bread - God are they spoilt!! They've been picking moss off my lawns to line their nests, hope they come back for more and also tell their "friends". lol

tonight boys had finest chipolatas from freezer with chips and beans (compromise on pizza and chips) and we had chilli salmon with couscous and ratatouille (meant to have this last night but decided to have pie, chips and peas /sweetcorn instead). Teeny bit of freezer room but need that to sort!

antibiotics on day 2 - hoping really notice more difference tomorrow although have had more energy today so getting better slowly!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hiya all. Feeling whacked. Ds is at the folks so a sleep in for me yay! Just booked an extra night at the tunes hotel, plus the train journey. Hopefully ds won't blurt out that he's just turned 5 during the trip, otherwise I'm in major !!!!!!

Made a chili tonight with wedges, put a couple of portions in the freezer. Visited Asda at gone 5 and the whoopsies were rubbish. They used to be good when I was leaving work at that time, guess they've adjusted the time and they're reduced better late in the evening when I can't visit... booo.

katskorner chili salmon is lush! Hope you're feeling better soon. x

Lynsey - how did the bread go without the paddle lol? I've a feeling your birds are going to have a 'sod bread, had enough!' attitude!

GarnetLady - hi there, sorry to hear about your FIL.

Morning - a bowl of porridge for breakfast, with some of the previously stewed plums (one less!!). Have defrosted some bacon for sarnis for breakfast tomorrow, and then we'll have jacket potatoes and a filling for lunch with a salad, I have then defrosted steak for tea tomorrow - all progress being made on the space (and my budget hopefully!!)
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
