    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

    Been to Lidl and spent £3.63 on;

    2 x middle bacon (94p per pack) = £1.88
    Pack flat mushrooms = 50p
Butter fudge (my treat) = £1.25

Got some stuff for my Brother.

Had my porridge and going out mid afternoon for the freebie lunch/tea. Hubby's having a mixed grill and I fancy the belly pork with mash and roast root veg.

Trying Morries tonight as never been for a few weeks, hoping for cheap bread/pies/pasties and maybe some cakes - fingers crossed.

Fridge is embarrassingly low and no real snacks apart from some biccies - probably where the savings are being made!!!

  • Morning all.

got a busy day, really need to use up cupboard stuff and fruit in the drawer, so im going to make a plum and apple crumble, using fruit from the drawer and a premade crumble topping i bought, going to take out the last pack of sausages and make a pasta bake, using up some of the wholewheat pasta i have about 6 bags, sausages are ttd ys,will also take out a mozerella ball from freezer to use as topping, with some cheese that is unopened by come to its use by, will grate the rest and freeze need to go and get my nails done, so will put the plums and apples on in sc while im gone, so i will just need to fill some foil containers and top with the crumble mix, hopefully i can freeze one.

Loads of things in my cupboard coming up to its useby, may as well use it while its still in, got pots of custard, mostly low fat ones left and rice pudding from the jelly and custard glitch, also tins of campbells soup, which i use in pasta bakes, it makes it yum, will add chopped tomatoes and veg.

my freezer is doing o.k will take out some oxtail to do tomorrow in the sc, prob have with some basmati, i bought a 4kg pack when it was half price in sainsbos, but im using up a 1kg bag i have opened, so the tilda has to wait, not only that, but i have a 5kg bag of pasta to use, as well as 6 bags of the wholewheat penne pasta 22p a bag, i have fajita kits and various different dried noodles, tins of tomatoes and various tins of fruit, really need to get my cupboard organised, half packets used up and not buy anymore until i know exactly what i have got, i have been concentrating on my freezer, which i have managed to empty nearly once this year and that took 2 and half months, so thats my new challenge.

having lurked on here for a while I think it may be time to join in. our freezer is soooo full the drawers will only just close. like lynsey I am waiting for the lid* meatballs so will need room for them when we eventually get them

ms night ryder if you have a good recipe to use the wholewheat pasta it would be much appreciated. I have loads of it but put off using it as I don't really like it. I need a recipe that will cover up the pasta and make it taste better

lynsey thanks for the coffee link. we have promised ds1 a KFC for passing his LAMDA exam so the coffee will keep OH happy

I think the best thing to do with wholewheat pasta is to bake it. I do a variety of pasta bakes and cook in a shallow dish in the oven so the pasta crisps up - tastes really nice that way :D

bunbun2 - welcome, glad you've decided to post rather than just lurk. Are you from the North East area (KFC coffee)??
I boil my pasta when doing pasta bakes, keep on the al dente side, I prefer baked pasta, does seem nicer and I like the crispy bits.

Edwardia - hope your OH gets that nose from Lidl. None in mine this morning, someone had "picked" them all. ;)

Bun welcome! I found that if you boil the pasta 5 mins longer than white pasta, when i put it in a bake I can't tell the difference, drowning it in sauce helps a lot.also forgot to mention, i use a quarter of white pasta to mix it up.
    A
Edwardia that was funny lol, it will prob last me more than a year, since It's only me!
