  • Welcome lil_me!
Florenceem - that crumble looks lovely. you were lucky to get free rhubarb - have you seen the price of it in the supermarkets??!!

Nice day here again today -went to meet a friend for coffee this morning so had a slice of toast and cup of coffee in the coffee bar which was £1.75, and then I went to the little Tesco and got YS butternut squash, peppers and tomatoes, plus a wholemeal loaf all for £ 3. Not brilliant reductions but better than nothing I suppose and I will do roast veg for tea tonight with the piece of pork I defrosted overnight.

Lunch was l/o tuna in pittas for me and bacon sandwich for DD1 - DD2 was at a sleepover last night so will only be in for tea.

I have £15 left from my £40 from last week and it needs to last me indefinitely. I am owed fees but am not sure when they will be paid - they SHOULD arrive tomorrow or Tuesday but I never know when they will arrive. I need to get sweetner or sugar and eggs, but not anything else, although the kids would beg to differ lol!

Edwardia - Do you find that you have lost weight eating low carb? i keep saying I am going to try it - I have lost over 7 stone in the last year, but over the last two months I have put on half a stone and I really need to get a grip before it all goes back on!

    Hi guys

just let you know guys still alive here.

my cheeky 6year old just congratualted me on not burning the chicken nuggets its the oven I swear,

last few days meals not been great as running very low.

hubby gets paid 2days time new job so paydate changed by 10days.
so we been trying to gets small bits and bobs over last few weeks and hunt reductions but spar and co-op.

havent managaed to get much meat apart from small chicken and pack sausages.

we been lucky with sliced meats, bread and milk.

noticed co-op keep running out of value yogurts

havent been to butchers in ages.

we have £10off waitrose thiunk we will use this week.
we have £10 off farmfoods which think we will use next week,
but we need a fresh shop so maybe £50 lidls.
    Still not tried approved foods.
noticed home bargains opened so going to try see if they got any useful bits.

hoping to get bike soon so can hit some more shops more frequently for reductions.

today kids having chicken dippers, chips and frozen veg mix.

think for dinner will do them rice cooked in stock, chuck in some peas, sweetcorn chopped sliced chicken and grated cheese for nice tasty savoury rice.

as for me and hubby not sure as would try veg curry but hubby binned the potatoes that could have been salaved.

we have bread, ham, milk, squash.
    low on biscuits/crsips.
no potatoes, no eggs, low on pasta.
out of all fruit and salad stuff
    out of yogurts
    low on butter.

    will probably hit spar tommorow.
then do online shop tommorow night as tuesday is pay day.

its also weighin day and not feelimg hopeful as ate so much rubbish last few days.

wouldent mind popping out as have £4 but its raining and hard with 3kids.
    hubbys working.

we have lots in freZer but just icecream and frozen veg.
    no meal solutions.

sort of lost my focus last month or so and need to get it back.

we still spending way less than we used to coming in at 250-300 a month.

havent focusesed on lidls weekend deals.
    done any batch cooking
aldis as hubby no longer works next door.
loved the aldi 3bird roast at easter.

my baking effort for baby boys 1st birthday was good.

we managed most of march /april on the £120farmfoods shop we did on 15th march.

  • Gailey - i sympathise about the paydate - i am self employed and my paydate varies from month to month depending on when people decide to pay!!

could you make some cheese sauce and make a cheesy veg bake with the frozen vegetables - you could make a topping from grated up bread mixed with a crushed bag of crisps. You could have it with bread or oven chips if you have any! I love cheesy veg bake.

PP - pitta looks nice except that I don't like olives!! I have really tried to like them and like olive oil but whole olives make me shudder!!

  • Hi Gailey - nice to see you back. I was asking on the yellow stickered thread if anyone had 'seen' you lately.
Well we just went to Sainsbugs for school supplies and we got enough marked down fruit to do me for the rest of the week. 3 x ttd muscat grapes (very very good we just tried them) at 30p, 2 x physalis at 25p, kiwis at 25p and ttd clemantines at 30p. :D
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
gailey - lovely to see you back posting, take care.

Spend a little bit in Sainsbury's, but no reduced fruit or veg I fancied.

    2 packs teacakes - 24p (from £1) = 48p
    2 Warburton Raisin Loaf - 29p (from £1.20) = 58p
    Pack of cooked cocktail sausages - 59p (from £2.20) = 59p
    Basted Chicken Breast - £1.69 (from £4) = £1.69
    Pack Scotch Eggs - 20p (from 85p) = 20p
Pack Fresh Cream Apple turnovers - 20p (from £1.50)

Could have had bread, but left it - always another day (hopefully).

Gone are the turnovers and Scotch eggs and some cocktail sausages, rest frozen apart from a few slices of raisin loaf for tomorrow's breakfast - birds got the crusts!!
Not a mega-bargain with the chicken breast, but only the one and it would have got snatched - I do quite well from Sainsbury's and don't mind paying a bit more sometimes ..................... just hope they don't expect it every week. lol

£3.74 spent and much more than anticipated. Sorted the days snacks out though and chicken lattice for later with "Tasty Tatties" - cubed potatoes (approx 1cm), peas, sweetcorn and onion. I stir fry them first in a wok and finish in the oven.

  • Hi everyone!
I was also lucky enough to be given some rhubard by a kind lady at work, which was grown on her allotment. I made hubby and I some delicious crumble with custard.
Cupboard and freezer supplies running very low so I am going to do a food shop tomorrow and will try to spend as little as possible.
