vfm4me £500 a year? wow that is brilliant! Do you grow any of your own veg or anything? I admire your dedication to eating healthily. I often toy with vegetarianism - I couldn't do veganism, I often have veggie days though.
had one of my hm pittas toasted for b/f and beans with cheese in for lunch (was really really nice) and am not sure what to have for tea. DD2 had the leftover pulled pork with bbq sauce and DD1 will have chicken and roasted peppers and onions when she gets in from University. I went into the little Tesco on the way to a meeting before and bought a half price packet of pastels and ate them all (I LOVE pastels) so now I feel a bit sick and don't fancy anything. I may have a sandwich later on.
Still no fees in bank so down to my last £12!!

Macaroni cheese for dinner tonight, made from various bits of marked down cheese and bacon from the freezer.
Have added three tubs of almond macaroons to the stocks. 10p each from the Kosher shelf in Sainsbugs.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Well, cupboards are very slowly emptying. Good progress was made on the freezer this week with a substantial amount of soft fruit being used (got inspired by lots of crumble pictures!). Bought 8 tins of beans today so that'll fill a few gaps."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
I still am Puddleglum - phew!0 -
No venture into the full up freezer today - nothing to remove as Tuesday's dinner is already out and in the fridge.
We had HM egg/cheese/tomato quiche with HM chilli wedges and roast vegetables - onions, mushroom and tomatoes for dinner. This was out of the freezer - gone a bit soggy this time but warmed/firmed up in oven and tasty still.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I blinked and somehow missed two pages.. there seems to be some Heston Blumenthal style chickens and rhubarb crumbles going on :T
ms_night_ryder I don't think I ever made anyone giggle on a bus before thanks ! Not sure whether I should beor
recovering_spendaholic I didn't start low carbing to lose weight but to stabilise my blood sugar. I haven't lost as much weight as you - congratulations :T - but big weight loss is certainly possible.
quintwins hope you enjoy your new house !
V4M speaking as an ex lacto-ovo-vegetarian best wishes and good luck for the impending veganism and frugality.
NSD for me today as I had a Waitrose delivery yesterday. Tomorrow I'm going to another town so if I can find the Aldi I will investigate. Wednesday my mother is coming to see me so that she can buy more pizza in ASDA and we are going to visit a Polish shop and doubtless I will get dragged into Lidl as well. Thursday I am going to take a butchers at the one remaining butcher in town as I have to go that way for an appointment. For someone who hates shopping I'm sure doing a lot of it this week..0 -
Morning all! This morning I have taken out some mince and pasta sauce from the freezer so will make a bolognese later - for tomorrows tea. The only thing I have put back in is some coriander - I had a sad looking plant on my window ledge so have frozen the leaves in ice cubes of water so as not to waste them - worth a go rather than lose them all together, so feeling very virtous. Its amazing how quickly the challenge becomes addictive - or is that just me?I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Morning.
AlwaysHappy - it can be addictive, but some days I feel "down" as still a long way from the "finishing line" and sometimes wish I was in the "final straight" with enough budget left!!
quintwins - hope you settle in quickly - good luck.
Spent £2.60 last night in Sainsbury's, mainly on reduced cans of lemonade. Worth a look as Sainsbury's must be changing the style of pack or re-sizing?? 75p for a pack of 6 cans, quite a choice, but I only bought cloudy and diet lemonade - 3 packs @ 75p. Also bought a tub of coleslaw for 10p, a bag of Hollandaise sauce for 10p (froze it) and a naan bread for 15p. Hubby had jacket potato with coleslaw and cheese last night and another veggie day completed. I mainly just picked at food yesterday, not really hungry - crisps are rapidly diminishing. lol
Toasted tea-cakes for breakfast, stir fry later with diced chicken out of freezer and we were going to go to Wetherspoons for the "Grill Night" as hubby's off all day, but not 100% sure?? Maybe another jacket potato with that coleslaw.
Need a few things still like the eggs I haven't bought, but need for Friday's veggie day (veggie brunch) and need carrots for stir fry (not desperate though). Sweetcorn will be finished today and need that.
Waiting to see what Lidl's meat offer is at the weekend and can then plan what to spend the budget on.
Brother has just bought a large freezer and yesterday we took him to Farm Foods and he got loads of stuff for just over £20 (used a voucher I think for £2.50 off £20+ spend??). Not a shop we buy from, but some cheap stuff/offers.

Morning all,
Lynsey - I don't buy meat or chicken from Farmfoods but find their frozen veg very good. I buy the sliced mushrooms (currently BOGOF at £1), sliced bramley apples, leeks, stir fry mix and sometimes I get the bread. I never spend enough to get the £2.50 off £20 though.
Edwardia - Have you ever done an online meat order? We don't really have a butchers in our village any more and I have been tempted to try some of the online butchers.
I am definitely going to try and eat less carbs. That said, I made bagels last night and have just had two for breakfast (they were quite small;)).
Lunch will be soup and Tea will be chicken bacon and avocado salad. I cooked the chicken on sunday and did the bacon yesterday so it is just an assembly job.
last night I used one of my approved foods Ainsley Harriot savoury rices. They aren't as nice as the Batc
helors, although they probably have loads less additives and were mega cheap so....
Need to get ready and deliver some work to a client and then have my B12 injection. Still no fees so i won't be doing any shopping today!Jane
