    I've been Money Tipped!
Lip_Stick - looked at the £9 rooms earlier, but may try for October, that's when my son has his Birthday and we popped down last year.
Remember Groupon, sometimes great deals in London - you never know! ;)

Just tried a glass of the £2.50 wine and it's actually OK, had a lot worse. Tempranillo grape, Faustino is based on that, but not as good as Faustino. A bargain at £2.50 though, might see if they have any rose.

Garlic prawns - I generally use the large cooked ones, defrost first and just warm in garlic oil - lovely drizzled over a veg stir fry.
The Sainsbury's garlic oil is really nice, glad a bought quite a few.

Never ventured out to Sainsbury's, weather wet and dull here so kept warm (heating on). Settle for what I got and start again tomorrow - determined not to spend over £20 this week, though it's a struggle now, last time I spent under £20 in a week was week 10 (£19.77) almost 6 weeks ago!!

    Evening all

Just booked a room with a Tunes Hotel at Kings Cross. £9 for one night. They're having a sale as it will be newly opened. More dates, i.e. sept-nov are being added on the 20th. Think I can get away with saying ds is 4 on the train down there? He is rather short lol and still small enough to sit on my lap.

Will have to save up for my London trip now! Last time I went (with just the ex) I got in a lot of places 2-4-1 as we went by train.

Just leaping out of lurkdom to say thanks for this info, I'm hoping to get down to the smoke in early September as DD who lives there is jumping out of a plane for charity (Shelter From the Storm http://www.sfts.org.uk/ ) I'd love to be able to get to see her for the weekend and this could mean I can - luckily I'm also quite fond of megabus.:D

Cheers for the groupon advice Lynsey. I was going to book for the hotel for December but was too scared I'd miss out lol, so may book again for Dec too. I'm sure London at Christmas time would be nice for ds.

Tempted to put my heating on, it's bloody freezing. Feel a draft from somewhere! Not putting in on tho lol.

JayJay14 - You're welcome. I may have to go on megabus if the train is too expensive. Was just going to ask where abouts you are, but I see you're er... from exactly where I am. :D How long does Megabus take? Good luck to your DD and to the charity, hope they do well out of it.

  • DD just came in from the pictures in full on starvation mode and went mental because her sister had eaten all the pork steaks which I had made for tea. I quickly looked in the cupboards and found a packet of Aldi cheese and onion risotto which I bought last year and which I have never fancied. I told DD2 that it was delicious and made it up for her and to my utter amazement it made LOADS and was indeed absolutely delicious. The pack says serves 2 and I think that it would easily do 3 or even 4 with something else on the plate. I was stunned at how nice it was and it only took 7 minutes to cook. From memory it was about 99p for the pack so I think i will get some more in when I next go to Aldi. There is more than enough left to have with tea tomorrow night with chicken breasts and green salad.

Well done on the competition win Lynsey! I entered a load of comps last year but gave up as I didn't win anything - I think I might give it another go.

  • I was pretty late home tonight as I was teaching a food hygiene course, got home to find DH had found a small rack of lamb in the freezer which he had roasted and made caesar salad - really num.
Stopped at Sainsbugs on the way and got four bottles of extra virgin olive oil at £2 a litre bottle. I've been keeping an eye on the Kosher section and yesterday they were £8 but as last year the prices tumble after Easter / Passover. Use by January 2014. Can't be bad:D
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

I would advise you daughter to wear a parachute if she's jumping out of a plane .......... makes the landing a bit softer!!! (just kidding). Charities seem to be struggling of late, hope she raises lots of ££££'s.

Thinking of pie, peas and h/m chips tomorrow - only 2 pies left I think - I'll have to get to Morries Saturday night - getting far too lazy!!

Megabus takes about 4 hours - bus from paragon, via sunny scunny down to East Midlands Parkway station then on a train to Kings cross - I rather enjoy it. I think some of the buses may go via York now though which will lengthen it a bit.

I'm up near asda kingswood by the way - going for the beans tomorrow.:D

Thanks for the info JayJay14, sounds a good option. Do you get train tickets for the train journey? Just with daysoutguide, you get a lot of 2-4-1 offers if you have journeyed by train.

You're not far from my folks, often go to that Asda if I'm shopping with them. I'm more near Viccy dock so use the Mount Pleasant Asda.

blackandwhitebunny - gutted there's no sainsbugs near me. :(

lol Lynsey, that made me laugh out loud!

Jane, if I'm having a losing streak, I give up for a bit. Every time I've done that I've won fairly quickly.

You don't get tickets at all, they send you an email and a text after you book online - the number is the ticket.

Morning All!! A little bit more space made - had a garlic bread last night with our spaghetti bolognese, and then this morning I have taken out meatballs for tea tomorrow - I can actually see a "little" space in one of the drawers now - perseverance is the key - oh, and avoiding the supermarkets helps too!!!
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
