went to farm foods yesterday for some casserole veg, going to put it in slow cooker with a packet of braising steak, does anyone know why i have 11 packets of braising steak in the freezer.
my food is gonna take ages to use up from freezer as ds2 is moving out this week, tho it will help empty tin cupboard, as i will give him a lot of items to get him started
loves to knit and crochet for others

i'm getting a bag of frozen fruit salad so if i run out of fruit i can just use it, has anyone tried it before? is it nice?

hi all havent posted for a while, have been doing fairly well (compared to usual!) but making progress :)

Did buy 7 sirloin steaks from meat van at local car boot sale but OH loves steaks and they did look really nice yum yum went shopping yesterday spent only £70 compared to the usual £120-£130

For tea yesterday had fish in butter sauce from freezer with new potatoes, OH had chicken tikka from freezer with new potatoes, LO had chicken nuggets and new potatoes

for lunch today I had 2 beef burgers from freezer and used up some crusty bread.

Out for tea tonight for friends DS birthday. OH is gettin on board with the MSE ways and is actually letting me rumage in the whoopsies instead of standing there with a face of thunder lol (hes not the most patient people when it comes to food shopping, gets very stressed) so for every new thing I put in the freezer I'm trying to eat 2 of the older items :)

    xx

Hi everyone. Am brand new to this site and came across this thread and I think it's fate that today I had already decided to not buy any more food (apart from basics) until everything is gone in my kitchen. Have major cash probs atm.....in fact have no income or benefits coming in due to problems and having to leave my job.....so really have to tighten my belt.

I have a funny feeling that most of the meals will be random as there is so much different stuff in the cupboards that probably shouldnt go together. Anywho I hope you don't mind me tagging along and lets see how this goes xx

    Hi,
I hope you get your money/income sorted. My cupboards, boxes and freezer are at bursting point in case we have a crisis. I fear it might be around the corner. We survive on a very low income but we manage. one night might be beans and the next might be salmon. All depends what gets reduced at the end of the day when i go shopping.
I'm sure you will manage. Theres so much help on here. Sorting out benfits can be a nightmare, hope it doesn't cause you too much stress. Good luck:)

    Welcome to MSE jojo.
There are sites out there that helps create recipes/meals with what you have.

    http://www.supercook.com/

There are others out there and I can't find a one I used to view.

Still got carrot and coriander soup and making a pork casserole for later. Found some diced leg of pork (yet another Sainsburys reduced item) and using up the carrots, swede and potatoes.
Eating out tomorrow (paid for treat), so easy day and keeps the spending down a little. Taybarns buffet, so only breakfast to worry about tomorrow.
I'm in desparate need of some cheap/reduced apples to get rid of some pastry. Pork mince is another item I need to use, probably Saturday.

Thank you for the lovely welcome, kind words and link. Today will be a good day for food being the first proper day of foraging in the kitchen. By the end of the week it will probably be noodles and jam lol

Good news on the job front though. Just had a call from an agency and their may be a full time job on offer starting this week! It's not a nice job bet hey if it keeps me in shoes I'm happy.

    welcome aboard jojo.
my dinner last night was chucked in the bin. it was pizza and i had to turn off the oven mid way through its cooking time, due to a freind having a emergency. the pizzas werent burnt by the time we got back.

so we had jam sarnies for tea!!! too tired and wet to do any more cooking.
life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.
