I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

My freezer is half empty now and I've got the shakes. _pale_ I keep thinking 'where's my safety net? What if the wages don't go in again and we've nothing in the cupboards?
Have to get a grip because I do have some money put aside for other bills and the wages WILL go in. Its just when you've been messed around before and felt the pain of it you get nervous.Am a prize whimp.
Well today I am having some quorn slices (19p reduced) for lunch from the freezer in a salad with some lovely brie from tesco (10p). Some of my huge bottle of branston pickle (2.5kg) from AP foods that I got many moons ago for 99p will go down nicely with it.
Naturally the scrummy wholemeal knot roll that I'm having with it was practically a gift from MrM the other evening... so a very budget lunch for us!
Tonight is just sausage sarnies as we take mum and dad for their shopping, so too late for cooking when we get in.
How would you use brioche to make something into a meal, even just a sweet pud that would make a meal? :think:AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

You could use it like I do with hot cross buns (Jamie Oliver tip).
Spread slices with jam or marmalade, place them in a baking dish, cover with custard and simply bake.

Uuurrrggghh I'm ill and don't want to meal plan :-(
No breakfast for me. Guess I'll have some of my manky lentil soup for lunch and the girls can have sandwiches. And for tea... Perhaps brown rice and fishcakes with some frozen veggies
Very jealous of your ikea breakfast Lynsey! Enjoy your hunting!!
Hope you are feeling better now .I am still using up and still buying the odd whoopsie.Dont think I will ever be able to stop this completely but have spent significantly less over the past couple of weeksSlimming World at target0 -

Likewise. I've not made this for a while and might just do it today, spotted a tin of custard in the cupboard yesterday.
Weakened last night, got some pork mince again from Sainsburys for 50p. I don't need pork mince, I've already got pork mince in the freezer and now I've got more. Two packs just sitting there looking sad, so sad old me took them!!!!!!!! Got some puff pastry for 15p also and Scotch eggs (had last night for snack) for 15p.
Finishing off the minestone soup later and took some garlic mussels out and will probably make the pudding with some hot cross buns. Found some packs of raisins, so need some flour and I'll make scones next week.
Another easy day today, no real cooking.

Topped up my cupboards on Fri with a visit to Lidl, Asda and Home B, quite pleased with Asda spent £6 but had a price Guarantee voucher for £1.18 so it came in for less this included reduced pro active yoghurt drinks, 2 tins of tuna for 25p each, reduced bananas and OH likes a cooked chicken but as these are £4.40 I bought a normal chicken and cooked it myself, the chicken itself was only £2.80.
DS's were out for tea last night at a friends, today looks like chicken dinner with own grown potatoes and cabbage.0 -

Don't waste them and more food by adding calories as a bread and butter pudding! Defrost them now and have as a warm treat with a cup of tea at 5pm. Yum!

I'm going to be moving house soon so I've been doing a quick stock take of my cupboards/freezer (well, crappy ice box in top of fridge that always completely ices up every few months) to try and use up as much stuff as possible, and save some cash.
Found Quorn chicken pieces, peas, spinach and blueberries in freezer, and in cupboards - endless tins of tomatoes (did I think there would be a national shortage?)a very large bottle of Lee & Perrins worc sauce and 3 jars of pickle. As well as more normal quantities of items.
Blueberries are defrosting for tomorrow's porridge, spinach ended up in rice mix for stuffed peppers for lunches this week and the quorn and peas ended up in a rather weird beef stroganoff.
Mostly weird as I had no beef, no mushrooms and no milk, but had found a packet of beef stroganoff sauce mix that was a wee bit past its use by date and thought I'd make use of it.
Ended up with a tasty-ish, slightly odd looking concoction, using soya milk to make up the sauce. I don't think Nigella has anything to worry about TBH!

New week and I will be better!
My cupboards are looking considerably emptier! Freezer was okay until I bought 87p finest choc Belgium puds! Mmmm worth it tho! Start back at work from maternity leave this week(huge sigh!!)
So one month til pay day!!! Can't wait! And neither can my debts!!
Today.. Or rather.. When I wake.. It's toast for breakfast, Soup for lunch and post zumba beetroot salad with crab or tuna.. Probably crab. I have a full shelf in my cupboard empty now. I feel so proud, and yet, slightly worried that there's nothing to eat... Even tho there is still plenty.
Any one else feel like that?!
Oh and I've lost 3lbs!! WoOooooooooOoooohoo!!..(/(/

I bought a very large ganache chocalate cake from Sainsburys yesterday reduced to £1.99 from £8 - if you want to put them 3lbs back on, I'll email you half.
Lots of meat being reduced in Sainsbury just before close yesterday and I just walked away..............must be improving..............I would never have done this if I wasn't sticking to a monthly budget.
Away most of yesterday, had some pork loin steaks (from freezer) and roast veg last night and some cake.
Got some carrots to get rid of, so making carrot and coriander soup and maybe burger and wedgers later. Still got quite a few burgers I bought from ASDA when they had the "extra special" ones on for £1 per pack.
Just milk and sugar needed today.
