I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Lynsey, considering my budget I get most my whoopsies in waitrose, they price them really well and their multibuy offers still stand on reduced bits so can often earn you money! The quality you can't fault either! Will stop in again tomorrow so thats 4 shops to go to...Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
*realises I need to go to Tesco to get the milk*
Shocking behaviour Lip_Stick.
Those sachets are so versatile and I don't take sugar in hot drinks (coffee's my drink) and hubby drinks tea, so a big bag of brown sugar normally just cakes up.
bramble1 - the nearest Waitrose to myself is more like a Tesco Extra, which is a shame. I think the last time we bought from a Waitrose was when we stopped off at Northampton (near Campanile hotel) on route to see son in London. The stuff seems good quality and I would love to try their "whoopsies". lol
Jane - I'm very, very impressed at your butter making skills and remember reading the last thread on it. Too frightened to fail, but everytime I see "whoopsied" cream I remember that thread. lol
Breakfast today will be another grilled grapefruit (sprinkled with some brown sugar from a sachet).
Fishcakes at last for lunch and need to use up some veg, so probably take out some beef and make a casserole to last tonight and tomorrow.
The Lidl weekend half-price meat offer suspense is killing me, I might pop in just for a leaflet later. I need to know how much freezer space I may need in case it's something great.
Feeling well'ish, but this throat thing seems to keep coming back - been lingering for weeks now!!

Thanks RS, Lipstick, Lynsey - unfortunately the image of what they did will stay with me for a lifetime

Cheerfulness, that is the wrap recipe I did too, did yours come out chewy/soft? Maybe I should have another go...
I've been up early today waiting on my milk delivery... had to get dressed early too! to go out and check outside! Nothing yet... (unless it's been stolen already!). I've read some bad reviews of bad tempered milkmen and price problems since reading on here, so bit nervous lol. Still, it's a big company so sure they will sort any problems..
Bramble, got to agree on the Waitrose reductions, sadly I don't get in there much now but I was working right by one that still had reductions if I went in at lunchtime or sometimes I'd get in before work even - my nearest one now reduces just before closing so first thing is excellent and it's all in excellent condition unlike my local Asda/Morries reduced stuff. How I miss getting in there so frequently!
No real food plans today, toast, jacket potato I think. Once the order has arrived I may pop into Morrisons for a couple of bits, I am hoping something Quorn related will be on offer to go with my potato as I have nothing suitable in the freezer surprisingly!0 -
morning all - heading off for my big shop once DD2 is off to school - I have my list and intend to stick to it!
Just done a quick cupboard audit and got out a sachet of tuna pasta bake (colmans) which I had forgotten about, so I will make that for tea - DD1 is away for the night so I have said that DD2 can invite a friend for tea - she loves tuna pasta bake so that is easily sorted. Just had toast for Breakfast. Also found a sachet of Knorr Crofters veg soup in the cupboard, which I really like, so I will tart that up with a bit of extra veg and have that for lunch and cauli cheese for tea. Sorted!
I have never really bought Lidl meat - is it good quality? My friend buys the middle bacon, but I thought it was really salty, and loads of white goo came out when I cooked it.
I e-mailed Tesco to complain about my nearest big Tesco - the prices are often wrong and they won't give you DTD, plus the staff are rude and they almost never have any of the offer products. Plus I saw someone nick a load of stuff and told the security guard, who called me Miss Marple!!!! They rang me up and said that they would look into it but that was it! Sounded like they couldn't be bothered and not even an apology or voucher offered!! I really do hate Tescos and am only going today because I have a load of vouchers.
Have a great day everyone!Jane

[STRIKE]Miss Marple[/STRIKE] Jane - I don't find the meat as good as Sainsbury's and I generally have my targets. I'm after (still) the meatballs and chicken breasts..........been waiting ages though!! The bacon medallions are good (99p when half-price) and the pork medallions and sometimes the pork chops look lovely. The lean steak mince is OK.
I ONLY buy Lidl meat when it's part of the half-price weekend offer.

My order has just arrived :j
Pleased with the service so far, friendly milkman, he buzzed me and came right in the flats to my own front door - I asked him if he always does that and he said with flats he wouldn't leave it out on the road though would leave it inside the flats if the communal door wasn't locked, guess it depends on area and milkman though! I think I would use them again, it's quite a convenient service if the price is right, maybe if they have offers and I'm feeling lazy. Timing wise, he said 8.30 or usually earlier.0 -
Morning all... feeling a bit tired as I didn't fall asleep last night til around 2, no reason why, probably too many cups of tea! A bit of ironing to do, as well as the bathroom, and going to tackle ds' room today.
Breakfast was a choc waffle... healthy I know.
No idea what dinner will be, maybe a tin of soup. Tea is king prawn nasi goreng, got the prawns out of the freezer and they're defrosting. Need to buy eggs.
kirri - I hope you feel better soon with regards to what happened. You've some good friends on here who I hope will help.
Jane - your Tesco sounds awful. Don't they have the blue board behind CS that points out the DTD or do they use excuses to get out of it?There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Yes ours did go soft and chewy. Took a bit of getting used to as I overcooked them to start and they just cracked up when I rolled them.
I actually liked them better when I froze the mix into portion sizes as balls and then defrosted and rolled prior to eating. They rolled out thiner somehow and were great.
Either way tho they are a hit with us and I'll use them again once I've waded through all the APFoods ones I got way back when they were selling 8pks of 8 for £1.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I have a better tortilla/wrap/chapatti recipe, it only uses flour, water and a teeny bit of trex but tastes delicious-like shop bought wraps only fresher just need to look up exact quantities. Last night we had Monterey beans with cheese using 19p sainsburys basic kidney beans, tin of tomatoes I bought months ago from ocado, lake district cheddar I bought last month from S, fajita seasoning I got last year from Shorters club, garlic and a bit of frozen mixed veg from S I got a few weeks ago. Since kitchen is a disaster zone of mess didn't want to add to it do used big bag of whole meal tortillas I got from waitrose last month for £1 instead of making from scratch this time xx0

Not posted on here since 2 weekends ago when I posted about my BF having 3 freezers and i was stocktaking them...well.... Between him and his kids one freezer has now been emptied..It was only half full by the time we'd chucked some dire stuff out but even so..achieved.
He then switched it off and cleaned it out..and left it off! Until this Sunday when he went out and bought bread ...enough to fill it again! It was full price too. He has a LOT to learn..lol.0
