that bag of gram flour needs using up!
Gram flour is so versatile if you cook Indian food (I barely do, because my home is so small the smell takes days to disperse :() and keeps for ages so don't be in a hurry to use it up. It also makes a great face mask - just mix to a paste with some water / natural yoghurt if you have it, as and when you need it - if you can put up with the smell until it dries.

I had a lapse and needed some chocolate yesterday so nipped next door to Sainsbos. They had Kettle crips (5s) for £1 so I bought 4, should last me ages as an occasional treat with a G&T. Talk about chav's basket, chocolate and crips and nothing else lol. Didn't feel like eating proper food last night so just had some chocolate :o.

I won't be shopping again this week, food that needs to be used up:
    - 4 pints skimmed milk (57 Weetabix left at the last count!)
    - enough low fat yoghurt / bananas / mango for 2 large smoothies
    - 800g wholemeal bread in the freezer
    - 300g sweet red grapes
    - loads of hm soups in the freezer
    - loads of pesto and living salad remaining
    - 8 braeburn apples

I'm away this weekend, back Monday pm so I think I shall get some fruit from the stall then and that should do me fine for the week....it'll be cereal for dinner if I'm hungry. I need to leave the house by 5.30am on Tuesday to get to Birmingham for 8am, so will make a pesto and salad sandwich, take some apples and a bag of kettle crips with me as a snack supply.

  • Mornin all!!
Still using up the stocks (having *ahem* done a quick re-stock this week! ...with a money off voucher so worth it mind you! ;))
having to chuck a few bits this morning as not planned ahead as much as could have ... a slice of pizza, some leftover salad, few roast potatoes and little bit of leftover quorn from wednesdays dinner! Am hoping writing it out will guilt me into not being so wasteful in future! :rotfl:
The reason for this is the reduced bread I got the other day 30p max, 11p for some scones as well! then I had to do a freezer reshuffle which involved taking out/cooking some of the above mentioned things! Will resist anymore bargains for now as its really a false economy if the stuff I take out doesnt get eaten!!

Trying to win some free bubbly choc to go in the treat cupboard as trying to be good and not buy more junk - we are running down the stocks so apart from a few crisps and a couple of sweet treats (mostly that I dont like hence why they are left!) our stocks look fairly healthy! Have afew easy dinners in the freezer things like fishcakes/oven chips ... also have some chicken and sausages both of which may make into a casserole or curry of some kind (the chicken...dont like the sound of sausage curry!!) also lots of eggs needing using by end of this week so am thinking omlette one night and some cake making!

made first ever twinks hobnobs last week which went down a big success so may do those again as a sweet treat if/when needed!

I *will* resist the shops till at least 10 days time as I reckon we have more than enough to last until then...

    Morning all

My itinerary arrived this morning so got a bit excited about that!!! We don't leave til 8am which is better than I thought. Thought it was going to be a 7:15 start. We leave disney at 8:25 in the evening on the Sunday so we'll have a full day there, and then a short tour around Paris. I reckon ds will be asleep by then tho!

Off into town today as mam is buying ds some trainers. Some decent ones that he will actually be able to get on himself. Had to take the ones I bought in the sale back as they were impossible for me to get on him, never mind himself. Will head to tesco to get stuff with vouchers too. Won't bother getting any food.

May either do fried rice or soup for dinner.

Right, gunna jump in the bath which ds will want to join me in. A lovely long soak in a hot bath on my own is a very rare treat these days!

Youngone I know what you mean about false economy, I have wasted quite a few meals due to me being overzealous and taking or cooking a lot of food, when I can't possibly eat it all.

Have done really well today, took some frankfurters, the Christmas ham chunk and a opened pack of whoopsied kingsmill pitta pockets and used 2 of the eggs I bought to make spiced cup cakes, so had scrambled egg, put the frankfurters and ham chunks in George foreman and toasted pitta pockets, it was yummy, forgot to buy the beans to go with it, ah well, going out for dinner tonight for a friends birthday, so will just have some fruit until tonight, just gonna potter around the house, but will take out smoked salmon fillets to do a pasta for dinner tomorrow, freezers are getting empty, least I know, when full I can last for roughly 2monthz, even though after I take out the salmon I will still have

    5 frankfurters
    2 salmon fillets
    2 chicken breasts
    2 packs of sausages
    A pack of pitta pockets
    Bag of par boiled pots
    Small amount of oven chips
    4 home made steak bakes
    1 tapas toms and pot
    Square wraps
    2 containers of butter
    5 slices of ham
    A container of curry
    A container of mince
    A contain.Erm of stewed fruit
    A bag of rice cooked
    a pancake
    A scone
    A bag of pumpkin
    A bag of bean sprouts

I have thrown out 2 packs of rolls as i froze them and they were whoopsied I froze them 3 days after when i tasted one, the quality had gone so lesson learnt, as you see from my list, with addition to what i have in cupboards and fridge I could prob squeeze anotber couple weeks out of my freezer, but I'm going to stock up, I have nearly 2 drawers wirth of space, will make a order with sainsburys as i have a moc but their website is awful, it doesnt show your savings and it doesn't show your real total minus savings.

It looks lovely outside, tempted to go and use a waitrose or t's voucher just to go out in the sun.

    Afternoon all

Had usual toast and marmite for breakfast.

Made some quick almond biscuits before I went out.

Then went out on my long walk to 3 farm shop places, for eggs £3, fruit & veg, £10 ish  and cheese £3 - did nearly 16,000 steps according to my new Tesco (freebie) pedometer, about 6 miles I think on foot! Had 2 choc biscuits halfway!! These spends take my Feb total up to about £76, so well above my hoped for £60 spend but below my max budget of £80.

Had late lunch/early dinner of bread and cheese.

Not sure about later, might have a snack or fruit.

Lipstick - sounds exciting, wish I had a trip to look forward to!
V4m, bargain on those Kettle crisps, one of my faves.

Biggest daily spend of the year so far I think, just over £10 so far!!!

    24 cans of diet Pepsi - £4.56
    4 pints milk - £1
    Olive oil - £1.49
    2 packets of 15p sweets - 30p
2 packets of 59p Red Sky crisps -£1.18
    Pack of parsnips - 39p
Packet of Rich Tea - 23p
Packet of chocolate Digestives - 59p
Pack of hot cross buns - 50p

    Total = £10.24

Those Tesco hot cross buns are well worth 50p (half-price), they are lovely.
Glad I've got loads of coupons as I wouldn't normally go in there !!!

No Morries tonight, but probably Sainsburys as I need to put lottery on - only buying "whoopsies" if they are "screaming to be bought" - nothing silly and worthless tonight.

Lip_Stick - I bet your little one is getting excited at meeting Mickey and Minnie, maybe not as excited as yourself, but still excited. :D
Great experience for him, something to treasure.

Hello all, hope you've had a good day so far. I've been doing some DIY and Spring Cleaning today with OH. Ground to a halt though when we ran out of brush cleaner and Brasso !

Dinner tonight is cottage pie made with minced veal from the freezer (3 for £10 Waitrose offer in December) and mashed swede on top instead of mashed potato as lower carb.

    Evening all

Sat waiting for my friend to turn up although like normal, she'll probably be late. Drinking a nice voddy and coke. Peed off as my cheeks are all blotchy! Of all the !!!!!!! days. Had to put a ton of makeup on to cover it up.

Went to tesco and spent £13 on cleaning stuff that would have cost £25 even on sale, so did well there. Think I've enough comfort to last now!!! Didn't end up saving really as I bought ds a toy for £13 to go with his batcave!! The spoilt little sod. Mam also bought him one but hers cost £15 haha. He's not getting anything til the holiday now, not even sweets!!!!

Went for a coffee in costa, and they do little cups with a flake for kids, for 50p. Cute.

Feeling a bit tired, hope I perk up!

Lynsey, kirri, yep I'm definitely more excited about disney than ds lol!!!!

Never bought nowt else, but there was a lovely large spicy pasta meal reduced from nearly £5 down to £1.19 - picked it up walked around the shop cuddling the damn thing and put it back for someone else - not needed at all and pretty pleased at leaving it!
So total spend for the week was £20.77 and almost half of that was today!!
8 weeks in and just under £130 spent so far................well on target and still very well stocked up.
Not really that much needed next week either, see how it goes and what Lidl have to offer next weekend and check tomorrow to see what the Aldi Super 6 brings.
Just had snacky things today and several hot cross buns, not too sure what tomorrows meals will be either - packet of bacon medallions to finish sometime tomorrow though.

You're doing fab Lynsey, how many of you are there? Won't be buying anything else for the cupboards or freezer next month til we're back from the hol. So much needs using up.

Starting to feel a little drunk now. really wish my mate would hurry up. Will be meeting my other friend soon without her if she doesn't!!
