Having Raspberry vodka i made over christmas :) (that counts right? It's taking up fridge room....) Lunch for OH is made, only one tin of tuna and one tin of beans left!!!

Will need to decide what to do for dinner tomorrow and defrost something... not sure what yet. Don't want chicken again as having that tonight. Will search for recipes online.

Much the same as yesterday for me:

    Breakfast - nothing
    Lunch - toast and cheese
Dinner - small amount of pasta with half a roasted aubergine and red pesto/grated parmesan from freezer

Would normally eat more but still not 100%. Only thing I've used up is the aubergine.

Made the Wright's ciabatta mix today, not tried a mix before but was only 65p in Morrisons and had a 30p coupon, so for 35p I made 2 loaves and 4 huge rolls. Got to try and fit some of that in the freezer somehow.

Hi all, hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend!

I forgot to mention that I made the sausage and apple plait last Sunday when I was at Mam's. It turned out lovely and would definitely do it again.
    Hello everyone,
This is my first try to 'quote' so please be gentle with me if it doesn't work!
Really pleased that the sausage and apple plait worked for you Lip_Stick. :T

Hope you're feeling better soon, Kirri.

I've been to work today and avoided spending anything, even though we have a sale at the moment. On Tuesday I had to buy things we ran out of, but aiming for 4 NSD's in a row by the end of tomorrow! :)

At work again tomorrow but at least I don't have to work on Sunday. :j

Yep it turned out a lot better than I thought it would, despite mam making a dogs dinner out of the plait making. Of all the days to forget my tablet to show the best bits of plait making on youtube, it had to be that day. Anyway, the pastry was a bit stretched, but otherwise absolutely fine. The apple tasted nice and not too mushy.

I've got about 16 days and about £90 spending money... eek. lets hope I can rein in my spending.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Thanks you MrsCD, fed up of feeling ill but the only benefit is I'm not spending or using much food!!

Did have one of the Wright's Ciabatta rolls while still warm after dinner, very nice! Bit salty compared to what I'd make when mixing it myself but the texture was really very good. Now I want another coupon!! I will probably have one of the rolls with a veggie sausage tomorrow.

  • hi everyone - not been online for a few days but have just caught up with the thread. Have had a few days of enforced no/very low spending due to almost total lack of funds!! i am due to get my fees in the bank any day now so that should help restore my finances a bit!! Hak. i have been eating out of the freezer and now really could do with a meat re-stock. I am seriously considering doing an online meat shop - just looking at all the different sites and prices - they vary so much!!

made a huge beef curry yesterday and froze half of it so will eat that next week. Tonight I got a bag of turkey and stuffing leftover from Christmas and both kids refused to eat it as they said that it was nearly a month since Christmas!! I had some of it and there is enough left for me to have on sandwiches tomorrow.

Younger daughter is having a sleepover tomorrow and I have no money for usual sleepover takeaway so I am going to make a pizza using dough made in breadmaker and cheese out of the freezer, plus i will make some popcorn and cupcakes as I still have loads of baking stuff in the cupboard.

I did do an approved foods shop the other day and I got an e-mail to say that they had a computer error and had deleted, so they gave me a credit plus 20% for the inconvenience so I did another order today. I got alot of Knorr stock cubes and oxos, plus bonne maman jams, Mcvities muffins and pasta.
Lynsey - You might find that the mixed beans don't soften as they are stale had some dried split peas that were old and they just wouldn't soften!!

Just had a little look at some of the slow cooker recipe sites and it's quite amazing what can be cooked. I generally thought they were basically for stews, chilli con carne etc. Slow cooker chicken chow mein sounds wacky, I always thought of this as a quick stir fry meal done in minutes. I need to get my head around this slow cooker usage and read up and ask.

Egg muffins later for breakfast, coffee in a minute or two.......................and a lovely beef casserole for this evening meal, might pop open a bottle of Faustino to celebrate.

I don't want to spend over £10 today if possible. I want "whoopsies", but not desperate for them. I need very little and I'm going to try and remind myself of that today. Only top quality cheap "whoopsies" considered, others will be discarded. I sound like a real "meanie", but I'm staying strong..................I hope!!

hey can you post any cool recipes you find for the slow cooker please

Lol - only cool recipes I know is when I forget to turn the machine on. :rotfl:
Wrong person to ask, only ever made one casserole so far. Have a look at some of the great links though, amazing what you can cook in a slow cooker.

    NSD yesterday.
Lidl later and need dried oregano, onions and some eggs.
I'm struggling to get reduced meat offers this year (a couple of joints so far), they are reducing far to early and customers are happy to save 50p etc, - madness, even at 50p off the prices are still high. Next time I see something decent I'll have to take the lot. :D

I'm going to write a list for next week and try and buy at the lowest prices. Getting low on olive oil, but got tons of sunflower/veg oil. HB is cheap for olive oil, should have picked up a bottle the other day. Bacon needed also, but I'll wait and pick a few packs from in Lidl (XXL event), only £1.29 (332.5g) - must be 33% extra. Olive oil is not too bad also @ £2.99 litre.

Sausage sandwich for breakfast, roast beef dinner and snacks throughout the day - nice and easy.

Morries at around 8pm - see if Simple [STRIKE]Simon[/STRIKE] Lynsey can meet the pieman.............and get lucky again.

At last, I am going to get the ribs out of the freezer and cook them for dinner tonight with baked potatoes and sweetcorn, going to freeze some of the lovely left over bol sauce that son#2 made yesterday and some casserole some pork that's just come to the end of it's fridge life. I have to say i get a real kick out of living frugally!
