went to mr s in my lunch break and didn't buy any cupboard or freezer items (apart from a pack of finish quantum dishwasher tabs that had a notice the difference or it's free offer on it!) just milk and fruit. will make bread tonight and use fish parcels from freezer for dinner. :j0

be careful if you're going to eat them too - they can be very high in calories - i was shocked when i started reading the labels! am also aiming to lose weight by jan, but hectic lifestyle and endless christmas goodies on offer to eat everywhere aren't helping that goal!:rotfl:
I know! I don't tend to eat them, and am fully on the diet band waggon as of monday. But OH has a manual job so can afford the calories!
We didn''t eat our fish pie last night, opted for crisps and dip instead :rotfl: so pie possibly tonight...but tis my birthday and i don't know if i fancy it, i could freeze i though...Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Hello everybody,
I've got behind with my posts for this challenge hence an update:-
November there was minor "progress" in that the storecupboard contents are a little less. The fridge freezer items, however, do not seem any less. Anyway, todays terrible weather has made me feel grateful for what I have got. If there is a long stretch of this weather, there will be certainly less passing shops for me.
I do not think Xmas/New Year food and drink spending will increase my present groceries by the beginning of 2012. In fact, I am happy to use what I have which if desired can be Christmassey style. Consequently, I'll keep with this challenge this month and see what happens!0 -
I am glad of my stocks too dannie, weve been stuck at home all day today due to the horrendous winds. It has me constantly on edge, my stomach is in knots! Weve only lost one roof tile (that i can see) but our neibour has a caravan parked outside and the window has blown out! Its curtains are blowing all over the place. cant wait till this is over!
Weve done really well this week, had curry from the freezer on mon, pork from the freezer on tues, free veggie sausages (donation from my mum!) and have taken chicken out for tonight. My most succesfull freezer week ever! and nothing extra bought for it apart from brocclli and potatoes!June GC £130.93/£150Wedding Date Set 13th October 2012 :T0 -
Got dominoes last night.... had a 50% voucher (which they didn't take so we can use again!) so didn't spend much, i only ate a starter and have a whole pizza left to munch on today!
Will do stir fry later for dinner from fridge bits and bobs.
Really will need to eat from the freezer next week, our telly blew up and we need to find the funds to buy a new one as we're trying to stay in more but can't do that without any entertainment!
So i think we've enough to see us through the week ahead and then we are out of meat so will keep an eye on the lidl offers and pick some up as and when.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

For Dinner yest i had domino's with 50% code, mentioned in martins tweet, had the remainder for lunch.
Took out some frozen chicken chunks from freezer yest and also bought a whoopsied whle chicken, have cut in haf, froze 1 half and used the leg with dinner, will put the rest into a pasta bake along with a whoopsied broccoli and also bung chicken chunks in SC for a nice curry.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Cooked up a chicken breast roast yesterday that was gorgeous and only 99p reduced from the freezer. Its done me for salad today as well.
Spending rising but still mainly food for when family on holiday at the end of the year.
Looking forward to starting a new budget and working this freezer down as it seems to be going up!AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Since my last post, I've hardly bought anything but in checking the freezer contents, some recipes needed "reinventing" so this then created a big recipe that will last a few days. However, as needtosavE and myself said, it's great to have these "stocks" if indoors due to the bad weather. However, I might pop out for awhile today which tends to increase these "stocks" which will then slow down using things up. Nevertheless, similar to cheerfulness4, I also look forward to better budgeting/ reducing the freezer items.0

Hey guys
I think that i have overcooked today, got a curry in the sc and have made a pasta bake, using some whoopsied chicken and broccoli, it needed using so figured may as well cook it all, had to use up chicken chunks in curry as i had defrosted it, but decided to have pizza and then ate the leftovers next day.
So anyway, i went to mr t's today and got my free bag of chips, but had to get a bigger pack as nowhere sold the right size i have looked in 6 sm so was getting fed up, so in order to fit those in, i took out 2 takeaway containers, one with a little spring onion that i chucked in the curry and 1 with some slow cooked bbq pork, which is now defrosting, also i am going to my grandmas for dinner, cant fit anything else in the freezer right now, so have 3 different meals to eat with the next 3 days and all have at least 3 portions, lol.
The dilemma is,i can't cook anything else from freezer to eat, as from the above i have loads, on the other side, i can't put anything else in the freezer, as there is no space! what to do?
I did however have to eat the last 3 sweetcorn fritters and last 2 of a tray of mini cheese and bacon lattices. to make space for the chips.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

hello everyone *waves* thought i'd join in here. we're going to move at the end of april and i thought it would be a good idea to start eating as much from our stores as possible before then.
i currently have a fridge freezer (smallish) and a small chest freezer full to bursting as well as kitchen cupboards and a very large stockpile over several deep wide shelves in the bedroom (i always keep a 'food savings account', it's kept us fed several desperate times over the years)
because i'm to move i don't want to haul so much food around with us, and to be honest some of the stuff in the stockpile we're getting tired of so finishing it off to get new stuff would be nice!
it's just my daughter and myself and we occasionally feed friends. i get a box scheme veg box twice monthly and have a mobile butcher at my disposal and my daughter is happy to makes runs to lidl for me for bread and fruit (though i have plenty of tinned and dried stuff too) so i think that i could keep my spending down considerably.
i plan to save the money i don't spend on more groceries to stock up again when we move and to buy some items we'll need for the flat as the place we're in now is furnished however almost all the flats in the area we plan to move to are unfurnished so we'll need a fair few things like plates, some cutlery, some pots and pans (i have a little of these) etc. doing this seems wise so i'll have less to move and a clever way of using money i would have spent anyway for things we will really need.
i've just done my last shop for things for christmas, i'm planning to not do anymore supermarket shops (asda, tesc) for a few months, wish me luck!0
