Forgot i had breakfast sausages and scotch pies in the freezer, will lift out some sausages to cook for lunch. But that leaves me in a dinner dilemma, OH has decided he wants steak tonight, so will go to butchers to get that and some bones for pup - could do without buying more food, but ohwell, it will keep him happy and we're staying in alot so saving money on the pub, so i need to decide what i want for dinner, there are veggie burgers that i could have.
Going to defrost some cod and prawns and attempt a HM fish pie for tomorrow, That will really free up some space as we bought the fish ages ago and haven't eaten any of it yet. So my attempt at NSDs for the rest of the week is ruined by going to get steak later today!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Got more to add to my spends in sig when I get a mo to check receipts but its mainly all for when DH is on holidays and we are eating our way through the 'normal' stuff in the freezer.
Today is going to be Sausage Plait using a few sausages left in freezer and some All Butter puff pastry from my little stock that Asda was selling off so cheaply recently. Shall pad that filling out with some Ainsley Harriet sage n onion couscous as mum gave me two more packs from her AP foods stock. ;0
DS1's FIL sent a massive beef joint for us. Its organic, too. He works in the meat trade and had too much for his freezer. Was such a wonderful surprise as was totally unexpected and we don't normally get treats like that. Was so grateful. So thats been portioned into one really big joint and 2 regular sized ones and frozen.
Have managed to buy a few more holiday bits for when family off and all eating me silly. Seem to be getting all I want very cheaply this year. So pleased!AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

NSD for me yesterday but I do need to go shopping at some point today as I need flour to try out my new breadmaker, plus we have no eggs and hardly any cheese.
Last night I made a cheese pasta bake with bacon in it and it was really lovely - I put a big dollop of english mustard in the cheese sauce and it really perked up the flavour. I only made enough for the three of us so there was nothing leftover.
Cheerfulness - I love sausage plait!! Haven't had it for ages so may make one - thanks for the reminder!
Breakfast was wholemeal toast, lunch will be salad and coleslaw and two little mini Branston topped pork pies which I got for 10p reduced in Tesco the other week. They are delicious!! Dinner tonight is spaghetti and meatballs (meatballs out of the freezer) or pork steaks, jacket potato and salad. DD1 is joining Weight Watchers again so might not want the spaghetti and meatballs.... I have tried to tell her that WW is not very MSE but she thinks that she won't lose weight any other way. I have lost nearly 8 stone since this time last year just by eating much smaller portions, cutting out all fizzy drinks (even diet) and having a little bit of everything, but she isn't convinced, plus she likes big portions (BIG portions!!)
The fridge is looking a bit sparse but the cupboards are still full!Jane

I'm still getting through my freezer - the added bonus is that it's all healthy, homemade vegan meals and I have not been eating carbohydrates with it. Tofu and vegetables in blackbean sauce yesterday, rataouille today, spicy carrot soup tomorrow...
New b/f visited for the first time recently and I was a tad embarrassed about my packed - although immaculately arranged - pantry cupboad. I had also fed him my favourite M&S muesli which I bought in the summer but hadn't opened...he pointed out that it's BB date was over a month ago. Lol it didn't kill him.

I am seriously impressed RS. Well done you!
Think my breadmaker is on its way out. I over work them and they can't take the strain.
Its going the way of the others so I best get saving before it gives out entirely.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
