Went to Tescos last night, and spent £80!! But £30 of that was on non groceries.

Got some good whoopsies included a big lamb joint, 2 packs of sausages, chicken popper things (good for sunday snacks) WW pancakes etc

I am NOT going food shopping again this year. The only things i could need are milk and some fresh veg, but even then what we have in the freezer could make do.

Tonight we're having jacket potatoes, OH will have spicy chicken steaks and beans with his, I am going to just have cottage cheese with mine, maybe some beans.

Lunch - making my way through the soup i made on sunday, OH is having his usual sarnies.

The £100 budget was for just 2 of us, but £100 goes a very long way when buying reduced items and Lidl half-price weekend stuff. Combined with using coupons for money off/free stuff, I would imaginge £100 gets around £300's worth of food at full price - so we are not skimping.

Thanks, I might give my £150 a go then, particularly as we're veggie, lentils are so much cheaper than meat!!

If it wasn't winter, my chickens would be keeping us in eggs too, but they seem to have stoped now, still, I've not bought eggs in a year, so not done too badly!

Need to get my head around the voucher thread too, oh and go back to meal planning!

    I must try harder.
  • For bekkie i have had some asda apple yogurt, ubd is today, so will have the rest after dinner, i actually forgot to eat it, for lunch, i will be having the remainder of the chicken curry and pasta bake, then there is no more! yay. :)

For dinner i have a pork joint defrosted from the freezer to make space for chips, icecream and portioned pasta bake, so i am going to have that bbq pork tender made in sc, with some freebie chips, tiny bit of space may be free in freezer, cheesey coleslaw bought yest and sweetcorn from the tin.

  • Well we have done it, the chest freezer is empty, and the hoarded food is run down, there are a few things like pasta bakes from when they were on offer and smart price curry sauce for if the winter snow strikes, and some rice and pasta, but other than that there is now space for christmas goodies, looking forward to a christmas shop next week.

    Wow, well done.

I cant imagine having an empty freezer, I get a bit of a cold sweat!!

I'm enjoying this, I must say. It's amazing how good you feel not wasting food that you'd usually throw away.

Tonight we've got a packet mushroom risotto that I didn't use when we went camping with whoopsied garlic bread. I've got a banana and walnut bread in the breadmaker, using bananas and walnuts that I should have used up by now. I've also used up some more bananas in some banana angel delight, which is a year out of date!! Had to use 1 1/2 eggs, so put the rest in the fridge, LO and I can have eggie bread for lunch tomorrow with some beans! (would normally have thrown 1/2 an egg so really proud of myself)

Found a half used jar of gherkins at the back of the fridge, anyone got any ideas. We don't like them much, so won't want to eat them with a salad. Any ideas anyone!

Yesterday was productive as I made soup with several bags of veg from the freezer. Also, used bags of stored fruit to make jam. I also do not need to go shopping apart from purchasing milk. However, I'll definitely not have reduced the fridge/freezer contents this year but maybe next .

We had bits out the freezer yesterday which i then filled with quorn burgers and vension sausage rolls that where whoopsied in waitrose, but such good prices i couldn't turn them down. oh and another loaf of WW bread.

Tonight OH is having pork chops, roast potatoes, stuffing and veg, I will have a spinach and ricotta canelloni WW ready meal.

Lunch is soup out the freezer, it's not defrosted very well...hoping when i heat it up it improves which bits from the store cupboards.
