Yesterdays lunch was defrosted pulled pork, some rice and leftover veg from sat.

Still trying to eat all the meals i created over weekend using the defosted stuff, have 2 portions of pasta b ake and 2 of curry, i'm gonna have a portion of the curry for lunch before i head out, so that should stop me buying anything while out, but, i have 2 voucher for 750ml of free icecream, so i am going to get one today, dunno where in the freezer it will go! still need to find space for 2 portions of paasta bake and 1 of curry! lol

Off to my freezer i go!

Edit, found space for 2 portions of pasta bake! yay! so space for the ice cream and curry needed, none in sight, but may take out a few things i will need like bread during the week.

I roasted the huge chicken from the freezer, which made a nice space, which then got filled up with stock from the chicken the next day.

Nearly used up all the pasta, so spag and noodles it is for the next few weeks.

Then we shall live off rice, beans and lentils for a month.

I am really enjoying this challenge - encouraging me to be really inventive too.

    Hi All,

Thought I'd pop my head up and join in..we did our normal weekly shop on the 26th November..and have been eating out of the freezer ever since! Its been really hard, but I'm actually really enjoying being creative every day.

I just made a beef casserole for the slow cooker using some ancient mushrooms, beef, stock, tomatoes and herbs for tomorrow..thinking about sticking some kidney beans or frozen peas in it as we have those lurking around! What do you think? Also prepped some parsnips and cabbage and put them in a zip lock bag in the fridge so OH can just stick them in some water to cook tomorrow :)

Had to go to the shops today to get some milk and bread, but that's it so far since that £60 shop at the end of November..otherwise it would've been a NSD...

    Hello everybody,

The fridge freezer contents still keep having items put in and others out so it doesn't look like space is appearing. However, will try to use up all the bagged veg and make a soup. Also, try not to make anything that is already in the freezer in some way.
  • hello - i have a quick question......

I have some uncooked diced pork in the freezer - Was thinking of defrosting it and sticking it in the slow cooker to cook for a day (later in the week) now.... my question is.... because it was frozen, then cooked in the slow cooker, will the leftovers be ok to re-heat? Or would i be best only defrosting - and cooking enough for myself and OH to eat?

    Thanks

once it's cooked it will be fine to reheat

my kids are off sick with the cold, so it was sandwichs for breakfast (sore throats) and rasins, lunch is going to be tom soup in a cup and bread for the twins and me and ds3 will have spagetti on toast, i have chicken breasts out for dinner was gonna make casarole but i forgot i needed gravy so not sure what to do now, i might just cook them up and serve them with mash, theres only 2 so it will eb small portions all round, or me and hubby could have them and the kids can have cocktail sausages cause oh doesn't like them

I'm planning on sticking to a £100 monthly food budget (December excluded due to Xmas) ...

I am a food hoarder too. I have three freezers, an outside utility room for tins and cleaning stuff and cupboards so full I can't find anything.

I'm trying to settle on a realistic budget for food for me, DH and DS (4) and was wondering how many you are feeding with your £100 Lynsey?

I did have an idea of £150 per month for the three of us (all vegetarian), but thats only £5 ish per day which doesnt seem much.

Hoping to live on reduced food almost completely and rotate what I already have. We eat far to many foods out of BBE, so I must be buying too much, or the wrong things!

Just popped in to reply and say hello. :D

The £100 budget was for just 2 of us, but £100 goes a very long way when buying reduced items and Lidl half-price weekend stuff. Combined with using coupons for money off/free stuff, I would imaginge £100 gets around £300's worth of food at full price - so we are not skimping.

Only bought a few Xmas things and not really spending much so far.

    Still eating my porridge. :rotfl:

    Take care, catch up later.
