Kippers are nice just warmed through with some butter and black pepper and eaten with wholemeal bread and butter! We used to have that as a tea quite often when I was growing up, but I haven't had it for years!! I remember it was nice though!

I also saw a TV chef (can't remember who) making a pate with kippers, pepper, cream cheese and lemon - he just whizzed it all together and had it with toast and cucumber.

Off to Tescos in a minute to get some Jordans oats (thanks Lynsey!! - you are really a mine of info on vouchers and reduced stuff!!)

    I'm still a trainee. lol
The real experts are on the coupon thread.
It's a very addictive thread, but some massive savings can be made (have a look what's available on page 1 and check the updated shopping list which is updated on a Wednesday by the fab MT). Highlight your targets and go for it and max as much as possible.
Seriously, I've done a check of my cupboards etc. today and moved things about and there will be very little non-food items to buy in 2012.............and I've given plenty away.
Just hope I live long enough to use all my shampoo's, conditioners and shower gels. :D

Anyway, hope you managed to get the Jordans Porridge, see what you think of it. Much chunkier than the normal stuff - I normally make with just milk and add a little sugar during cooking - sprinkle more sugar on top and it's perfect, absolutely lovely.
Can't understand why I eat so much in the winter and very little if at all in the summer??

No spend day so far and probably (well maybe) not going out. Early Lidl tomorrow though!

  • Well my second day at this, asked hubby what he fancied for tea, and he said sausages, as poor lamb not had any for a long time as we have to keep an eye on his fat intake but went to freezer and yes sausages and decided to give him more of a treat and took out some yorkshire puds ( bought months ago as whoopsied to 5p for 12 and there were 2 packs so bought them both) he wanted spaghetti over it and he was one happy bunny tonight. I just have had some soup but might have one of the cod in butter sauces I have in and treat myself to every few months
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Done my Lidl shop and spent £6.31.
    2 packs of diced steak.
6 packets of crisps (only charged for 5).
    1 pack of noodles.
    1 jar mixed herbs.

Had toast today for breakfast and it's chicken stir fry later (never had yeasterday).

OK my freezer and stock cupboards are crammed full. I realise have spent a lot of money in the food in there. I want to save money by using these and only buy:
    . Milk
    . Fruit/Veg
    . Bread
    . Yoghurt
. Breakfast cereal (only have 2 unopened packets)
. Sandwich fillings (have one pack of ham in the freezer)

as these things I eat virtually every day

Until one of the following happens
. I ran out of food
. I have only fish fingers and cornflakes left.

It will be a challenge as I'm on weight watchers so I have to be extra creative to keep my points down.

I do this every now and again. I do sometimes need to buy things in order to use other things up... for example, had some lasagne sheets in the cupboard, so had to buy mince and made a lasagne (obviously) - but, I realise like you, I have a lot of money in these various storage places.

I do the same with other things too, have so much much shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath sometimes from gifts, so put them all in a box and go through them. Definitely bathing more just to get rid of these, which may be counter productive as we have a water meter!!! Some are going to be 're-gifted' this year - which I know is bad in one sense, but no harm no foul I think :T

Good luck with trying to combine this with Weight Watchers - I can't bare to chuck food, but realise some of it just doesn't fit with a diet... just HAD to make a fruit crumble when I found some blackberries I'd picked from our garden last year....
