Right, having hung around this thread for ages I am now properly in.
Welcome onboard
We're a friendly lot on here which I'm sure you've noticed if you've been lurking for a while.
I caved in at the weekend and although I said I didn't need anythign else other than milk and veg I spent £11 in Mr A - oven chips, scampi, kievs - yes, all stuff that needed space in the freezer :eek:
But, honestly - that's it for this month. Still need to do my meal plan thoughAnywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -
I think that it is going to be difficult to keep on track with Christmas coming, although I wanted some room in the freezer for some Christmassy things - chocolate cheescake for one :j
So, although my shopping has been much reduced I'm thinking more long term and want my food budget for 2012 to be reduced. Not Rachmaninov

Don't forget Xmas is a time to grab some great reduced items, so space is needed. The shops often overstock and some great meat bargains can be had.
Well done cheerfulness4, great bargains with those joints. Sadly I haven't bought a reduced joint in ages and none in freezer at the moment - hopefully that will change shortly.
No spend day so far, but picked up 2 free Blue Dragon shots (sauces) earlier when doing my brothers shopping. I was panicking a little after Saturday, but on track now to succeed (£16+ left and only 2 more days after today) - hate to fail on the last one before Xmas!! Might not get to sainsburys until late tonight, but may still take a peep and look for some potatoes at least. Need to pick up some free Cravendale as down to last 2 litres!!
Welcome to newcomers.

Just stuck my head in here - this is amazing! Well done to everyone who's doing this. I'll have to do some workings-out to see if I can join in... I know I've got a load of sausages lurking in my freezer (and bananas... no really, for bananabread).0

Well day 1 back on the challenge and i spent £30! in sainsburys!! Needed lunch bits for OH, most of it was whoopsied to be fair - got some milk in the freezer, sausage rolls, pies and bread etc for Lunch for OH for the week ahead.
Will lift out more lasagna for my lunch tomorrow, then there will be one more portion of that left. Burgers for dinner tomorrow i think as there are still burgers & buns in the freezer, which we can have with either waffles, hash browns or chips what ever we don't have tonight.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
I have done it for the first time this week and only used what i had in, the last shop i did was two weeks ago and all i bought this week was bread, milk and apples and sweets for the kids after school, I spent 17 quid in total, I purposly wanted to see how long i could go for eating what i had in, As we always tend to buy in what we fancy even though the fridge, freezer and cupboard is full. This week i have stripped everything down to our last apart from the beer fridge and our christmas food stash and have surprised myself, I have done a shop today now for delivery wednesday. I have promised the kids a chinese tommorow night which is a good job as got !!!!!! all in lol'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0

I remember they were mentioned in a popular book we all read at junior school, and then an American girl came to visit - guess what we all asked her? "What's-a-sloppy-jo-oe?":DValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hiya
It is just mince on some form of bread, with whatever you fancy put on, i had lettuce, perinaise and cheese and it was yummy!
My problem was also the tons of mince, i defrosted some only to put back 2 containers of cooked mince, so sloppy joes was perfect, although i had so much mince, i have to throw a tiny bit away.
That or you could try it over nachos? sour cream and gauc.
Or how about, my fave over potatoes wedges with cheese?
Or stuffed in those huge pasta tubes? or a mince enchilada?
Now i have given a few ideas may try the mince stuffed pasta shells, with a tom sauce on top over weekend. hmmm
Nothing fro freezer today, had left over dinner for lunch.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Well I used some of the oven chips I'd bought on Saturday last night with the gammon from the 3 for £10 meat offer.
Just me and DS2 for food tonight (DS1 in London on a trip with college) and I asked him what he wanted for food tonight and he asked for a full english
I have bacon and eggs in, but no beans (what went wrong there?), no hash browns - his favourite, no single sausages in the freezer (they're all in packs of 6 to suit the 3 of us) and no ketchup
So guess I'll have to go back to Mr A and stock up on th ebits that are missing...what sort of parent am I if I run out of ketchup and don't replace it??!!Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -
Spent £1.23 last night on 3 jars of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce (350g jars - 41p each) in Sainsbury's - worth looking to see if they are clearing these, might be store specific though?? Son loves this and maybe should have cleared the shelf as 2013 use by date.
Nothing else as only bits of junk reduced (sandwiches, broccoli etc.), so saved pennies.
Pate out of freezer, so pate on toast for breakfast and decided to use up some fish fingers (lol) for lunch, just to clear some space - fish fingers, chips and peas.
Forget to freeze peppers, so will chop and freeze later - ideal for stir frys etc.
