Lunch is now left over from last night's dinner, so mini potato waffles, chicken and beans. Dinner is still burgers, with hash browns or potato bake i think.

Breakfast was some whoopsied bread that needs eating.

  • I thought that sloppy joes were also quite spicey? They are great to bulk out with lentils and beans, which serves the twofold purpose of more protein for less money.

can chedder cheese be put in the freezer?
  • Hi All

I decided to eventually register today and this is only my second ever post!

I did some Christmas shopping yesterday and have left myself with the bare minimum for my food buget. I always try to spend £150 but have been spending £200 ish a month for a while now!

Our freezer is absolutley packed! We have soooo much food in there its ridiculous, especially as there is only 2 of us. There is absolutley NO need for us to buy any food this month. Bread, milk, fruit and veg only i think!

I have just done a stock check and we have 32 ready meals (home cooked and frozen), and plenty of uncooked meats including black pudding, sausages, Lamd joint, pork chops, chicken breasts, steaks, turkey steak......... OMG thats even worse than I thought!

Wish me luck! And, thanks for all the tips you have un-knowingly given me over the last few months!

yes but it's best to grate it first as it tends to go crumbly

  • Needtosave, there is a grocery challenge on the old sty;e boards, its great, on my 2nd month, failed nov but determined to do better.

Done well today, even though it is payday, had quakers porridge at work, im getting sad because i will be down to the last box tommorow, cant print the jordans one, as when i go on bis, it doesnt even let me click! guess back to normal priced stuff.

For lunch i had a tapas paella, prawns chorizo and chicken, it was a frozen whoopsie on mr t's, also had a chicken thigh, from the batch i cooked and froze, this was breaded crispy chicken and lovely!

Had a sweet and sour chicken for dinner yum!

Well I used some of the oven chips I'd bought on Saturday last night with the gammon from the 3 for £10 meat offer.

Just me and DS2 for food tonight (DS1 in London on a trip with college) and I asked him what he wanted for food tonight and he asked for a full english
I have bacon and eggs in, but no beans (what went wrong there?), no hash browns - his favourite, no single sausages in the freezer (they're all in packs of 6 to suit the 3 of us) and no ketchup

So guess I'll have to go back to Mr A and stock up on th ebits that are missing...what sort of parent am I if I run out of ketchup and don't replace it??!! :o

We ran out of Tomato ketchup last week and I didn't replace it until yesterday and the kids definitely didn't eat as much when we didn't have any in!! No making endless bacon sandwiches or cheese on toast!

Had a piece of sirloin steak from the freezer for tea tonight - it was a fair sized piece and did me and elder daughter with tomatoes for me and on ciabatta with salad for her. DD2 went to the chippie with her friends - I was furious with her because I only had a £5 and told her to get something small so what did she do? bought a large fresh cod (£4!!!!) and a small chips and then went into the sweet shop and bought rubbish with the change! £ 5 down the drain.

I got the Jordans oats and am a bit peckish so might go and make a bowl up now to try - will make enough so I can microwave the rest for breakfast tomorrow!

My freezers aren't too bad but badly need defrosting and I just can't bring myself to do it as it always makes such a mess of the floor, even if I put loads of towels down and use the steam cleaner. But it will have to be done so that I can stock up for Christmas!

    Off to make the porridge!

Spent £1.79 tonight in Sainsbury's, no reduced bargains, but 2 free litres of Cravendale and bought some sweet mince pies for £1 BOGOF and a box of crackers.
