  • Really would like to make space in freezer for xmas things and hopefully some bargains too and trying not to spend too much in my GC budget.

Last night we had baked potato and beans for OH and salad and chinese snacks for me from the huge box I bought for a £1 from A$da for DD to take to a friends that she never took. It takes up so much space I'm trying to use them bit by bit!!
Today it's Chorizo, goats cheese and parsley frittata and salad for dinner and a baked potato and the rest of the beans for lunch for DD and a Houmous salad wrap for me.

OH went to MrS late on after his circuits class and managed to get 3x packs of haddock for 50p each, a big carton of pouring yoghurt for 44p and a chicken lasagne for 55p so things for the freezer but I don't mind bargains!!:rotfl:

Wow of late our Mr S has not been making great reductions at all, even just before store has closed I asked if they would reduce a few things that were still £4 - £5 and got told no, they had only been reduced a £ each and all they were going to do is throw them away. They used to be really good but they know to many people looking for the bargains now so not doing much reducing, I guess they realise that people will buy anything if its slightly cheaper, but me no unless it is really something I want.
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Just enjoying reading through their thread as my OH had to be at work mega-early.... thanks for being inspiring!

we keep a list on the outside of the freezer saying what is on each shelf and when it went in- otherwise I tend to forget and nobody else knows!

It gets filled up regularly, as our local coop reduces everything to either 10p or 20p on some nights. The last time that happened I came home with 5 bags of shopping for £2 and worked out that it was main meals for a week (family of 5) ...24 chicken pieces, whole quiche, 10 pork chops, 5 lamb chops, 10 chicken breasts- and buckets of bread! I do check the packaging to see if things can be frozen...

This has been our best month for it- £265 for groceries and I think there are 18 meals worth in the freezer!

We had burgers and hash browns last night.

I'm out for dinner later, but will have a freezer lunch, probably lasagna.

NSD for me yesterday, I didn't leave the house! I become somewhat of a recluse over winter. Am currently researching a last minute hotel deal for myself. Wonder if i can get a bargain.

Had my porridge and off to cook diced steak for steak and ale tonight.

Bramble, National Holidays sometimes offer decent late deals, sometimes all inclusive for decent prices - depending on departure and date.

I've been a bit naughty today and spent a little as I had vouchers to use and had to purchase something to get the free/near free items.

6 x bottles of Rekorderlig cider, free with coupons and £1.96 of rest of shop due to multi-buys. (todays top deal).
2 x Jordans Porridge @ 27p each by using coupons.
    2 x jams (2 for £2)
    1 x Heinz ketchup @ £1
    1 x Branston @ £1
    1 x 700g Cathedral City cheese @ £3
    2 x tomato puree @ 35p each
    1 x box choc truffles @ 89p (special treat)

All that for only £7.17 and still £6.49 to last until midnight when my food budgeting for the year end!!!
Glad today is last day as I've been struggling with this months budget due to mainly using coupons/vouchers - loads of Xmas goodies wanted, but had to delay until tomorrow onwards - have to stay strong. Lol

  • Did well today and had some cooked tandoori chicken out the freezer, thats the first thing thats came out of the freezer all week! Made a lovely curry with sweet potato, tomatoes, peas ect.

Out tomorrow so nothing out of the freezer again, then Friday will be the leftover curry from tonight.

Freezer stocks not going down by much but at least im not adding to it for a change!!!

I must try using more coupons. I used 2 vouchers for the £1 off sacla sauces last month and morrisons took them without a question. I still get nervous about it though. Dont know why, im sure everyone would do the same if they knew about it!!

I am slightly jealous of your 'no budget' month Lynsey, this month will be tighter than ever for us! Seem like you've definatley earned it though!
