I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Morning all
I've taken 2 cooked dinners out fo the freezer this morning for my dinner tonight and maybe for DS1 - I wasn't sure what was in there apart from 'a roast dinner' (must get better at labelling ) and DS said if he didn't like what was in the surporise box he'd choose something else... Hey ho if he doesn't eat it tonight I'll eat it tomorrow...!
Was pay day last week and need to get some shopping in tonight (been at my mum and dads all weekend so been eating there :j)
I just need veg, milk and cereals really to get us through this first couple of weeks - I already have some stewing steak in the freezer, a load of cooked, cubed pork - think that will be a curry at some point, some mince and loads of sausagesAnywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -
Found a packet of faggots in the bottom of freezer so thats 3 of us sorted with mash and peas. The other 3 are having a ham & pineapple pizza I got reduced a couple of weeks ago from the freezer and some jacket potatoes.
Made two lovely ginger cakes from a huge packet mix I got from Bigbrandsforless. Was delish with the orange and lemon zest it said to add. Had lots of lemons/oranges reduced to 9p per net from Morrisons that were hanging around, so pleased about that. Might make another two for the freezer.
Bad feeling all this 'using things up' might have an impact on my hips. So many scrummy uses for my odds and ends.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Morning.
Spent only 20p yesterday on a pack of apricot tarts from Sainsbury's. Only went in to use some Veg Pot coupons, but none in stock.
Porridge again for breakfast as I've got 5 litres of Cravendale to use up. The Jordans porridge is very, very nice - highly recommended, especially with a £1 coupon. lol
Mince 'n' Tatties today with veg.
Got a Groupon meal deal for tomorrow, so easy day.

We had a pizza from asda on Monday and takeaway yesterday! Need to get back on this and sort it out. The freezer is so full, I need to start eating things from it. Need to take an inventory really.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Well I wish I'd only spent 20p like Lynsey, or even the £40 like bramble but I spent £124 in Mr A yesterday
Some of it was bottles of Baileys on the £7 offer for presents and there was a couple of '3 for £10' meat in there but I sincerely hope I don't need to buy anything else other than milk til next payday
My freezer is full again but a meal plan will be done this weekend (it's already on the to-do list!!) and everything will get eaten in time for a last stock up before Christmas.
There were some whoopsies available yesterday but everyone was rummaging like some sort of jumble sale and lots of them were not fit to buy - squashed bread like someone had sat on it, quiche in boxes so battered that the quiche was falling out with pastry everywhere
Looking forward to doing the mealplan now - Lord I need to get out more!! :rotfl:Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -
I went to Sainsbo's last night to spend my £2 off £20. Tbh I was looking for 1L bottles of Famous Grouse which according to mysupermarket.com was just £13, ie cheaper than the 70cc - not true btw - and ended up spending it on Tu instead
.
Am running down my freezer nicely, have no intention of buying any more food from anywhere but my local fruit stall and Lidl (even then, just soya milk and baby leaf spinach which I can't get enough of) until 2012.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have also been "distracted" from this challenge. For 20p purchased 832gr carrots, 259gr sweet peppers, a lettuce and "mountains" of chile peppers and then there was Tesco's multibuy offers for storecupboard items that I always use.
Setting this aside, I've started to use up some of my piles of stock cubes. By the way, I hope you had good results whoever made the "bready omelette".0 -
squeezy gravy?
i need to go 2 the farm shop for spuds for tonight stew, then mil is giving me a £5 off £40 till slit seems a waste to waste it but i have no idea wat to buy with it i have very little room in the freezer and we don't need any dry stuff except maybe a bag of pasta and some co!!!! milk, i was gonna buy toilet roll as velvet is half price at 29p a roll but lidl are only 15p and they seem to last longer so i changed my mind, so now i'm really undecided if i tell her i don't want it she'll prob offer me money and assume i don't feed her grandkidsDEC GC £463.67/£450
