I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Cheerfulness4 - I would use the tillspit and your other vouchers as it is a good saving. Could you go to Tesco at about 3pm when they reduce the reductions to 90% off?
Bramble - I think it is a good idea for the dine in meal for your birthday. I often find that I am disappointed in meals out and they always seem to cost an arm and a leg, even it there is a deal on.
Chicken, chips and peas from the freezer for lunch. Pork steaks, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and onion gravy for tea. Haven't got any makings of afters in so they will have to have yoghurt - bet that will cause a few moans.Jane

Yeah - I'm going to keep an eye out now for the best meal deal and we'll just have a cosy night in with tasty food and wine
and then maybe do a pub lunch on the weekend or something.

Hi cheerfulness4 - I actually was reminded by the omelette recipe by reading post 557 on this link :- https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/481412
It is a very long time since I made omelette using bread as I do not eat wheat anymore but I do remember enjoying it. I found in my old recipe notes under "bready omelette" -
1/2" thick slice white bread (large loaf)
2 tbsp. milk
1 egg
salt and pepper
fat
"Remove crusts and crumble the bread into a basin. Add milk. With a fork, beat into a paste. Add egg and seasoning. Beat all together. Fry, turning when set firm enough, 2 - 3 mins".
I don't know if this is the same as the wartime recipe but at a guess, it could be similar? I also cannot remember whether I kept rigidly to the above ingredient quantities.0 -

That actually sound nice!! I used to make something like this years ago but I added grated cheese and I used to love that. Will give it a go I think!!Jane

Morning, did spend yesterday, but just £1.93.
Popped into Sainsbury's and bought a chicken ready meal for the freezer for 64p, a loaf reduced to 29p and some chocolate @ £1 for a treat. I was going to freeze the bread in packs of 4 slices for future toast, but saw spots of mould and it will all go to the birds (sell by date was 20th). Had far too many bargains to complain. lol
Porridge again this morning and a brunch for lunch - possibly a pizza later.
Edit: Update, spent 79p so far on a pack of Noodles from B&M and they had sliced chicken breast (reduced) at only 50p for 200g - so bacon and chicken pasta tomorrow in another blue cheese sauce to use cream up.

Had crunchy nut clusters for breakfast this morning. They are disgusting. So won't be eating the rest of the packet.
Lunch is a pasta shot thingy and dinner is minted lamb with potato bake (i just eat the bake and not the lamb!)Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Did decide to do that MrT shop with my coupons (managed to use £12.50 worth
) but does mean that I've had to add another £29.60 to my total spends.
A massive £10 of that went on a bottle of Baileys that they had on offer but thats a treat put away for later in the year.
Trouble is, I've been given another £5 off £40 spend voucher. :rotfl: Ends next weekend.
Do have another £4.50 coupon to spend on my clubcard account and various other little coupons so may have to think this out.
Today I'm going to make some HM bread and use up some eggs to make egg, chips and beans with bread & butter for tea.
Nice and easy.
Think I'll make some vegetable soup for lunch as I've a few odds and ends of veg in the fridge that need clearing.
Dannie - that sounds really interesting about the omelette. I love those old recipes. It will be tried this week as a have a crust of HM bread to use up.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Breakfast was the last of the asda version of crunchy nut cornflakes for me. Hubby had toast and eggs outta the freezer. Lunch already taken of, leftovers from yesterday beef curry with aubergines, rice. Dinner is beans on toast for me and some 11p noodles for DS that I found lurking in the cupboard.
NSD yesterday and so far today. Don't anticipate going out so doing well so farYou'll have to speak up; I'm wearing a towel0 -

Morning.
Spend another 20p last night in Sainsbury's on a stir fry and had last night with some of the sliced chicken (sliced chicken was tasteless and not the bargain in could have been!!). 99p spent on the day wasn't bad though and only 9 days left of budgeting.
Jam on toast for breafast, pasta for lunch and maybe that pizza later.
Not much luck with kitchen of late, oven went last month and yesterday my fryer was dead - need a cheapish fryer now.
All this budgeting and savings made have to be spent re-newing cooking appliances!!!
