With the MB recipe, I don't bother with capers (never have them here) but do add a bit of garlic.
I've done a gooseberry streusel before, that was probably a MB recipe. Turned out well (as do all her cakes - the Baking Bible is great too!)
Here's the HFW recipe:

Kirri - it wasn't me who asked about courgette recipes but thanks for the link you put up. These look really nice and will be trying them as have a couple of courgettes in and will only need to buy the mozzarella. Have only ever grated them and used in soup before.
Have used up the 1/4 bag of roast potatoes today so just the one thing less in the freezers today but nothing put in either. We had these tonight with some bacon that needed using up and the salmon from yesterday was finished in sandwiches for lunch.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Banana crumble experiment worked - is ok actually even though I am not mega keen on bananas in things, prefer them as they are.
Just put 1 frozen banana in a small tapas dish, let it defrost slightly and mashed it - then put the crumble (Delia recipe, with almonds) I made ages ago, and had put in the freezer, on top. Cooked for 40 mins ish.
Will probably use the rest of the frozen bananas and crumble mix up the same way now, to get them out of the freezer.
In to freezer: 5 spare portions of veg curry (+ had 1 portion for dinner tonight).
Out of freezer: 1 banana, 1 pot of crumble mix, 1 loaf hm bread.0 -
No freezer movements.
For dinner we had smoked cod + HM wedges + beetroot + grated carrot + celery + cucumber + pepper + red onion + tomato.

In to freezer - some HM Lemon/Sultana Muffins.
Out of freezer - 2 sausage Rolls + Choc Chip Muffin.
For dinner we had HM TITH + roast potatoes + roasted beetroot/red onions/tomatoes.
While I cooked dinner - made some Lemon/Sultana Muffins. I had half a lemon left from cooking fish yesterday + small amount of Sultanas in the cupboard.
Result - 12 Muffins - made with 2 ounces of the 90p Butter from the Lid. offer. Cost per Muffin - 7p.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Big spendy day today. Food shopping. Just over £50:eek: But that should be just about it for food shopping this month, apart from fruit and maybe veg bits.
Had run out of a lot of store cupboard essentials (flour, couscous, rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes) so now fully restocked. Fridge was empty apart from a quarter block of butter, so that is fully restocked too. Got loads of eggs now, too - 30 for 1.99:j And lots of bread, 10p whoops from Mr A, portioned up into 2-3 chunks and in the freezer.
I've also found some recipe ideas, and got the ingredients for those too, and plan to do some batch cooking tomorrow, to portion up and freeze, and cook the rest over the next week or so (with leftovers going into the freezer too).
I'll be doing a mega-batch of All-Purpose Pasta Sauce (can also be converted into chilli or Morrocan-type sauce) - probably about 10 portions! Plus Slow-Cooker Pizza Sauce (usually get 5-6 portions) and Pesto, both for the freezer.
Other recipes include Red Lentil Bolognese, Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli (got a pasta maker cheap on fleabay so am going to try my hand at making my own pasta:) never done it before), Veggie Chilli (a Girl Called Jack recipe, using chocolate - yum!), Pea & Courgette Frittata (WP, one for your courgette surplus?), Pea, Pear & Rocket Soup, and Cheese & Chestnut Mushroom Risotto.
(Just noticed that there's a bit of an Italian theme in the recipes.)
Only things I couldn't find were pine nuts and dried porcini mushrooms, so it'll be a trip to the Italian deli or maybe Mr T tomorrow.'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

£50 in one go JB  Would be interested to hear more about the red lentil bolognaise if you make it - since giving up Quorn this year I was thinking of trying a lentil bolognaise instead.
Florenceem - I REALLY want a muffin nowGot no eggs though..
I have nothing sweet in at all - unless I get another banana and crumble mix out the freezer..
Breakfast - Ran out of butter so had vegan marge on hm toast - disguised it with some free home made jam. Very nice.
Lunch - toasted cheese and onion sarnie with salad - home made bread (loaf with organic flour about 30-40p?) and only bought the tomato as the rest of the salad was from the allotment (cheese was free).
Dinner - the Mary Berry Italian stuffed courgette recipe with Pink Fir Apple potato wedges (the best potatoes!). Only bought the cheese and 1 tomato, the rest was from the allotment today, so nice cheap meal
Stocked up from the allotment with bunches of onions, spring onions, garlic, beetroot, carrots, courgettes (more!) potatoes, peas, beans, radish, cucumber, mizuna, rocket and various herbs. Plenty to last the week. A few cupboard staples are getting low so may have to unfortunately spend something this week ie bread flour, puy lentils and some dairy.
