Dinner tonight - came out of freezer - quiche also got out some cooked roast pork.
It's a nightmare isn't it, we got a new kitchen last year and I felt like we lived off takeaways for ages, you will get there in the end. I was washing up in the bath at one point!! But now I have my fab dishwasher, first one ever had, love it.0 -

The sink is not plumbed in yet.
Need the gas connection checked and electrician to wire in the cooker.
The chap who is meant to paint - not well.
I don't think workmen give a second thought to people having to carry on living in properties without main conveniences! Some things can't be helped but it's a long time to be without a cooker (not sure what I'd do as I don't even own a microwave!).
If it's any consolation, then my brand new kitchen and bathroom I had put in are still being ripped apart trying to sort the major flood from the flat upstairs - 7 months now it's been going on, so many things are being ruined it will never be the same
Breakfast - more free All Bran, I really like it! Would never have bought it without getting a freebie to try.
Lunch - hm pitta out of the freezer with the last of the mushrooms and used some of the wet garlic with it.
Dinner - not sure yet, thinking of using the last of the brown basmati and stuffing a pepper with it greek style. With some bread I've just made and the last of the bought rocket just to use it up (will pick my own this weekend).
I think I have now managed to use every wholefoods dried item in the cupboard in turn now as I've started replacing most of them. Don't know how people buy more than 1 packet of anything at a time as I find things get too old too quick!
Just putting in weekly veg box order, having to roughly meal plan for next week as I put the order in, am thinking along the lines of fajitas (will also make the tortillas and salsa), some sort of Indian chilli fry and saag aloo dish (got lots of potatoes to use up), more of the ginger asparagus and cashews with tofu and egg fried rice and probably more tabbouleh with haloumi and stilton pasta. Still have some hm ready meals in the freezer ie bean pasta and dahl.0 -

Thankfully - not in a flat - not even joined to another property.
The chap is talking about me being able to put stuff back in the kitchen at the weekend. I can't really do much until the painting is done. Ceiling needs more coats and walls not started yet.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Only good side to having the kitchen done is - we are using stuff out of the freezer and stocks.
Out of freezer today - pizza + cooked sausages.
Dinner was roast pork with jacket potato and mushy peas - MW - still no kitchen - 17 days now.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Evening all.
I haven't eaten out of the freezer today, tomorrow I'm going to buy something fresh for dinner, not from freezer, not a whoopsie either, just fresh. Fancy a break from routine no takeaway either.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

How are you managing to cook, we didn't have the cooker for a few days, we did have the microwave and I used the slow cooker a few times. Love my new kitchen, the old one was like something out of the Royle Family.0 -
Pork chops out of rhe freezer today. Need to buy some new potatoes & veg when I go shopping, but still need to do next week's meal plan so not sure what else I can use out of freezer.

Just done a small Ocado shop for tomorrow - it's payday so I usually do a massive shop but I have really reined it in this month as I am determined to sort out the freezer and cupboards.
I made stew with some shin beef yesterday and I forgot it was on the stove and it burned - I tried to rescue it but it was too far gone - the taste was pure burnt! I was so cross about it as I hate wasting stuff like that.
Breakfast today was shredded wheat and a banana - lunch is likely to be a baked potato with cheese and beans and tea tonight is going to be Birds Eye fish fillet burgers with hm wedges and peas - all out of the freezer.
I made an apple strudel last night with frozen farmfoods apples and some filo pastry which had been in the freezer for yonks - when it defrosted it was a bit fragile but it didn't turn out too bad - I haven't got any sugar so had to use sweetner in the apples but it was surprisingly nice! I love the farmfoods frozen bramley apples - they are great value at 3 bags for £2 at the moment.
DD1 is going back to university in a few minutes for the last two weeks of the year - She has been home studying for exams and the atmosphere has been "rather tense" so I am hoping that it will be a bit more peaceful here now!
Hope the weather is a bit better where you all are - it's freezing here today and raining on and off - I am seriously considering putting the heating on for a couple of hours.Jane
