Oh yes! Was also disgusted with the wasted food too, our shelves are quite high up and deep, so things have just festered away (nothing juicy and nasty, long life items eventually meeting their death!)0

trills if you find tins out of date open them and sniff/taste them 9 times out of 10 there fine after all thats what keeps companys like approved foods in business

After lurking for ages, I'm ready to join in!:j
My cupboards and one big chest freezer and one normal fridge/freezer are full to bursting.
Lots of vegetables, fish and odds and ends. Really need to tidy up so we're saving money and shopping more efficiently. You'll have to speak up; I'm wearing a towel0 -
Welcome lilrahi
I've not been well the past couple of days - my throat is soooo sore I can hardly speak and I have a second stage interview for a new job tomorrow
Anyway, took a steak pie out of the freezer yesterday and managed to eat some - DS1 and 2 did far better than me :rotfl:so I now have a portion of that back in the space I made by taking it out!!
Today is pasta bake using the last can of the free Campbell's - also got some remnants of chicken out of the freezer and a pack of pancetta to add to it.
Need to prep tomorrow's food today (DS2 has football training 40 miles away every Tuesday and Wednesday ) so that will be sausage casserole using the last pack of sausages from the freezer - somehow feel I need to buy more to replace them!!
Anyway, today will be a NSD as I'm sat on the sofa with no intention of leaving the house...just looked back at how I've rambled on and can only assume it's my way of 'talking' and making the most of it!!!Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -
Well still eating out the cupboards for lunches but dinners are thin on the ground, so need to go shopping tonight, however, a miscalculation means we're v. tight this month, so need to try and do a shop for the week ahead on about £30.... i know I can manage it, but don't think OH will be v. impressed. Will try see what i can get later today.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Hoping for a NSD today. Have to go into work (normally work from home) so have got a chicken out to cook for tonight. I am seriously considreing buying one of the special buy slow cookers from Aldi - £17.99 for a 6.5 litre one - looks really stylish too. I don't know if it will be worth it though - will have a think!
Freezer is full of "bits and bobs" so I need to use them up so that I can defrost before starting to fill it up for Christmas.
Lunch today was sandwiches from freezer for packed lunches and I will have some heated up cottage pie from last night (which wasn't that nice so there is LOADS left over!). Dinner will be the chicken (which will cook whilst I am out) with cabbage, carrots and roast potatoes.Jane

Everything I ate yesterday was newly bought, so I'm not yet in the swing of things
However, what happened was I made jacket stuffed potatoes and two cheese tarts and had one of the potatoes and a piece of tart with salad before I froze the rest. Now that is 11 pieces of cheese tart and 3 jacket stuffed potatoes which will do for 2 weeks dinners. (not in a row!)
I had to buy onions yesterday so I can now make curries with the vegetarian meatballs and quorn I have in the freezer. I want to have one portion of what I make and freeze the rest.
Today I'll have veg in cheese sauce from the freezer with homemade vegetarian rissoles and a few fresh green beans as well. Not Rachmaninov

Breakfast was toast from bread outta freezer. Got some fish out for lunch and will use the billions of packs of pasta for dinner. DS not that fond of fish so usually have for lunch while he's at school.
Do you freeze bread as a whole loaf or in 2 slice packets? I freeze 2 slices in sandwich bags but obviously those bags cost money! So if I did free the whole loaf is it easy to get slices as and when you need them or do they get stuck together?
And also, some of you guys say you freeze cream and milk which I've never done. Does it affect the quality? I mean does the milk get watery or the cream separate?
