Hi and wecome...I've just read your thread...and you've got yourself a job already..well done..:j :j

Well I had some work over the christmas period but its all over now. AND my computer decided to die (it was 7 years old) and I took it to the computer shop and said basically that it wasn't worth getting it fixed, so I had to fork out for a laptop and Microsoft Office and all that jazz. My mum donated half of the money for my laptop as she knows I dont really have that much money at the moment. So 2007 has to be the year I get out of this and start being sensible!
My debt is:
- overdraft - currently -£587
- credit card - £122
so its not too bad, but I have no income as such! I've added 12 items on Ebay, most of them end in 2 days time, so hopefully that'll add a few pounds that are much needed.

Hi Nicola
I know its not easy, my son is at uni too. You much checkout if you are paying interest on your Credit Card. If you are and not at your overdraft limit then you should clear it from that. If you are at your student account limit, then look around on the Loans & Banking section some offer more than others, my son is with Smile and they have been good with him. I am not saying take more out but just make sure you do not pay interest.
Hard as it may be you may need to cut your trips home.
Where do you Shop is there an Aldi/Lidl/Netto near you? Look on their web site. Dont think you are getting inferior food, you will get better food from them for the same or less than the value ranges at the more well known stores.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -

Thanks for replying. I dont think I pay any interest on the credit card but maybe paying off the credit card with my overdraft is a good idea. My overdraft limit is £1000 so that wouldn't go over. And I know I need to not go home so often, its just that my mum's going through a rough time at the moment and I hate to leave her all the time.
I normally shop at Sainsburys because its the nearest supermarket near our house and carrying tins etc is such a pain, even a short distance! I'm going to look at bus times this term as there's an Asda in the next town and as I have a bus pass, it wouldn't cost me anything to go there, it's just organising my time better so I can fit it in.
