Thanks for replying, I'll check the buses, though if the journey is too long I get really sick

Today I'm going to try and not spend anything! I'm not doing anything much, so if I dont go anywhere, I wont be tempted to spend anything. Now the only thing to do is STAY away from the online sites. there's temptation everywhere!

Right, this might sound really stupid but are you sure you still get travel sick? When I was younger I used to be really bad - if I was in a car for more than an hour or coach for more than about 30 mins I was guaranteed to be ill, but I've grown out of it now - so much so I can read on coaches (sometimes, sometimes I still get queasy) and I travelled from London to Spain a couple of years ago by coach and wasn't ill. You could get some travel sickness pills.
Train journey's - definitely, defintely book in advacnce and split the journey. My mum lives in Portsmouth and I'm at uni in Norwich, she travelled up to me a few weeks ago and what should have cost her about £60 travel ticket (previously quoted) because she asked about it the week before cost her £17.50 and that included travelling the on the tube! SHe just had to be at liverpool street station for her norwich train leaving at 1:30 p.m. and to sit in a booked seat but apart from that. And she got that the week before.
And maybe, not being harsh but if you live so far away maybe you shouldn't go home every week? Or as often - it takes me a good 4 or 5 hours to drive home so I don't go so often. Even when I was at uni in London, and it took an hour and half I only went home about once every 5 or 6 weeks.
And if one of your housemates can cook - get them to teach you. I couldn't cook when I started uni, well only oven stuff (chips, chicken burgers, fish fingers, etc) but lucky for me one of my flat mates took it upon herself to teach me and now I can cook and I love it! I cook curries and spaghetti bolognase and such like from scratch and I have a herb & spice wall (not rack... ) And cooking your own stuff from scratch is sooooo much better , so yummier.

Hi
Just a thought on music lessons, if you've got local shops or supermarkets try the free adverts board. Exams are coming up at Easter so any parents looking for extra tuition for kids taught at school will be looking shortly.

thanks for replying. actually, I dont know if I get travel sick anymore, but I used to be so bad as a child that I daren't try it! lol I might have to get over that. I only go home twice a term so I dont think its that much - one of my housemates goes home every weekend. None of us can really cook in our house! lol I think we might have to have a go together in cooking something.Serialdieter wrote:Hi

Well yesterday I was aiming not to spend anything yesterday, but I went to the dvd rental place in town, and ended up renting two dvds so that was £4
but apart from that I didn't spend anything. Today I went for lunch with my dad and he paid, so I've not spent any up to now. Lets hope I dont go anywhere tonight!

Hey there. £4 isnt bad, dont worry bout it. But thats how things build up so before you think you havent treated yourself and deserve a little shop, remember the dvd rental! I get caught like that, i used to forget that I had already bought myself something nice 2 days ago and think, yeah, I should get a treat.
Re: coaches, do not read on coaches if u get travel sick. Trust me. Just listen to some music, ponder the universe.
You'll be ok, as my BF says, people need some comfort in times of change (or for him all the time) so for you, there there, there there, you'll be ok. Keep going!£6,838.71 all on 0% CC, what a change!0 -
Well I went christmas shopping today as I needed to get more presents for people i.e. my mum and my cousins. Didn't spend too much and I've got just one more present left to get. Then its christmas done and dusted! wahoo
going to a christmas concert tonight, so that'll be fun, and more to the point, free! cause my mum bought me the ticket!
I found the most gorgeous money bank today, its an elephant one, but it was in the disney shop and £15 so i didn't buy it, am going to see if its in the sale after christmas

Today I went for christmas lunch with an old school friend so I spent £6 on that and then I had to buy two more christmas presents so that was another £20
I have got all my presents now, but gosh its been expensive. I'm going to try next year to be really organised, and get presents gradually, not all at once in the week leading up for christmas.

Not been anywhere today, so I've got a spend-free day. Also, I've got my first shift at the restaurant tonight, so that's a bit more money! :j I hope everyone has a good christmas thats not too stressful
