For those of you who do not know me I am The Dude - very active at Tesco during the R&R days but if I'm brutally honest DTD has never really hit my spot - there is a world of difference between being overharged a couple of quid and getting a free XBOX than haggling for 50 pence DTD when overcharged for a can of Tesco Value Sardines.
But Hey Ho - my motto has always been 'each to their own' - in essence do what you want to with the current Tesco DTD policy.
Given that this thread has gone hot in the last days with some really good (for a change) widespread DTDs I thought I would share some pointers from my experiences with R&R - these are still good for DTD - hey, use 'em or ignore 'em Dudes - up to you.
1. Courtesy. Some CS staff are nice, some are rude, most are somewhere inbetween - no matter how you are treated be calm with DTD - ask nicely for the policy to be honoured - if you lose your rag the CS bods will probably lose theirs too.
2. Profile. If you wish to claim DTD on 14 copies of The Simpsons PS2 and 21 Bad Boys DVDs in one fell swoop that's up to you (each to their own) - but if you do so you do risk your profile being raised and you wil be remembered on the next visit. Always present yourself as the innocent wronged shopper - not someone trying to get a freebie.
3. Queues. Queing at CS desks is good - it gives you an opportunity to stare at awe at the Blue Board so when CS trying to fob you off with just the difference you can point to the Board "Couldn't help but notice whilst I was standing here that 3rd parargraph up from the bottom states DTD".
4. Travel. If you have the transport means vary the stores you hit - if you are hitting the same store do so at different times of day so that you are exposed to a wider range of CS staff.
5. Weekends. Often there are student Dudes on CS duty - they have far less of a problem with DTD than some week CS workers.
6. Clubcard. If you become a regular DTD Dude then do not use your clubcard (or as Leadhead says 'the Tesco ID card') and if possible pay cash - that way Tesco cannot track you.
7. ID. If asked to provide your name and address for DTD you can refuse - but this does raise your profile - try to use a Mickey Mouse name and address if possible.
8. Do I need this? What's better - a DTD on a half price printer or £0.70 refund when you've been overcharged by £0.35 on a size 22 swimsuit? Ask yourself do you really want the item - let the small ones go and concentrate on the big fish - remember it's all about profile.
9. Yellow SELs. These have the expiry dates for special offers - visit a store early the day after expiry and see if you can nab a decent DTD before the PI Dudes start work for the day.
10. Have Fun. When DTD becomes a chore then drop it - there is a balance between life and Tescos - if you've visited the 9th store of evening hunting for that elusive copy of Terminator 12 then give it a rest - recoup and come back when ready - Tesco PI is pants and always will be.

Don't worry about punctuation (it's optional:rolleyes: ) but when I was reading through your post, in my own mind I could just hear the voice of Vicky Pollard.
Yeah but no but yeah but no but ....... whatever. :rotfl:
(Now, I bet there are forum members re-reading through your post in the style of Vicky P - go on, try doing it in a single breath - it really works)0 -

Hello everyone,
After being a guest on here for a number of months I though I would register to let you know about a miss price I found yesterday. It was for a Philips HR1854 White Whole Fruit Juicer. The original price was £59.97 reduced to £39.97. This deal ended on the 8th, but the labels were still on the product and it was scanning at £59.97. After bagging one, customer services removed the big label, but there was one on the other side she didn't notice. The CS lady gave me a refund of £40 no problem.
The only thing I would ask is that around my area, I can't seem to see any boards that quote the DTD policy. There have big blue boards behind the desks but no sign of it. Should I be looking else where?0 -

Oddly enough, soon after I left the display a woman came up and started taking notes of all the prices. She then took several photos of the display with her phone....
She didn't look like staff, though I didn't have the balls to ask what she was upto.... price comparator from Sainsburys maybe
Or perhaps a local paper doing a story on Tesco knowingly & repeatedly over-charging!!
It is a price audit, you get asked to do certain items; I know because I have done it before.0
