  • Hehe, no doubt. :rolleyes:

    Incidentally, browsing the DVD section I found *dozens* of mis-prices by simply comparing item stickers with the SELs.

    However, most of them were just 1 or 2 pounds - not worth DTDing.

    However:
    1) 2001: A Space Odyssey - stickered @ £5, SEL was £10 - bought.
    2) Schwarzenegger Triple (Terminator, Predator, Commando)- stickered @ £10, SEL was £15 - wasn't tempted. (about 3 minutes after spotting it a PI staff also noticed it, and quietly ferritted it away in the not-for-sale drawer)

    Also picked up the "£12" Simpsons game. - I bottled out of trying to buy 2 @ the same time, and damn good thing I did too! Customer services were having none of it!!

    Initially it looked like all was going fine - until she handed me the refund receipt to sign - she had only given me TD not DTD.
    I queried this, and ended up with the following marathon! :-
    CS: We don't do DTD anymore
    Me: But the sign behind you says.....
    CS: We stopped doing it 2 months ago
    Me: But the sign behind you says.....
    <repeat a few times, with varying excuses from CS>
    CS: Ok, that's all I can give you - let me check with my boss.
    <3 minutes>
    Me: Is the store manager coming?
    CS: No, but she's sending someone down.
    <anonymous Tesco staff arrives>
    <misc chatting between the two>
    Anon Tesco Staff: Hang on a moment, I'll go check the prices...
    Me: Ok....
    My Sister(quiet): What are they checking? the prices are right there on the stickers!
    Me(aloud): Obviously they think I changed the stickers...
    <5 minutes pass, various banter regarding the impracticality of changing a price label through a security case - one of houdini's exploits nodoubt>
    CS: I can give you DTD on the Simpsons game as it is a misprice, however 2001 has a SEL of £10 so I can only give you TD.
    Me: But the sign behind you says.... "If you are charged more than the price on the product OR the shelf."
    CS: Ok.... let me check with my Boss.
    <3 minutes talking on phone to someone>
    CS: Ok I can give you DTD on them both tonight
    Me: Thanks.
    <2 minutes of messing with till, voiding previous refund receipt, generating a new one, taking down my name & address(oh no, i'm on 'the list'!), etc>
    <I get 10 feet away, and realize she has short-refunded me! Back to the CS desk we go!!>
    Me: Hi, did you just give me DTD on both of these?
    CS: Yes.....
    Me: So, £10 for the 2001 DVD?
    CS: Yes....and £27.42 for the Simpsons.
    Me: Erm....
    CS: (27.71-14)*2.
    Me: The Simpsons game is labelled £12, not £14.
    <CS pauses and looks at the box>
    <CS silently goes to the till, pulls out £4, and drops them in my hand>
    Me(smiling): I'm trouble arn't I.
    <CS gives me blank stare>

    I love DTD shopping... though I think I need to find a new local shop :p
  • Btw, I gave the 1st Simpsons game to my nephew as a present - so I don't think 'buying' a second is particularly greedy. :A

    plenty have done it and plenty will continue to do it....doubt it had anything to do with Tesco retracting RnR!

    Good on you...go for it!
  • 1) Mission: Impossible ultimate missions collection (5 disc edition, all three movies) - Labelled £10, SEL £20, tilled @ £20 too. Bought & DTDed.
    There was also one labelled £15! Tesco PI realy is pretty poor!
    Both were in security cases, so got no arguement from the CS staff.

    2) Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Labelled £5, SEL £6. Although a good film £4 isn't much of a bargain, so passed on buying it.

    In this 3rd store (Irlam) The Simpsons Game had a blank label, rather than £12, so no DTD :confused:

    Interestingly enough, when going through the till, I swear the till staff spotted the £10<->£20 discrepency in the price - but failed to raise it to my attention...
    I get the feeling Tesco staff are instructed to purposefully ignore misprices when they are in Tesco's favour.

    So let me get this right in my head:p

    You bought simpsons game for £12 but came up on till at 27.71 - so they gave you a DTD refund of £31.42 - is that correct? :rotfl:

    Yep, pulled it off twice so far.

    Ofcourse, you should be thanking the discoverer of this fantastic DTD, dickieg.

    DVD - Annie & Oliver boxset, stickered at £10, SEL & scans at £12.

    Also Peppery Wild Rocket has an in-date offer of 2 for £1.75 displayed, which wasn't working today.

    Do you happen to know how much the normal price is?

    It's £1.10, so a 45p overcharge, DTD 90p.

    Not a huge amount, but good if you were buying it anyway.
